<vote /> MDC-T through party spokesperson, Obert Gutu issued a statement warning government of the possibility of civil unrest in the country due to the current cash crisis which is also causing artificial shortages of basic goods and commodities.

Gutu blamed the cash crisis on ZANU-PF and said that,

"Fundamentally, the lack of political legitimacy of the Zanu PF regime has to be addressed. Nothing short of this will do.There is a very real risk of civil commotion taking place in the country soon because millions of Zimbabweans have no access to food and even the Zanu PF regime itself is struggling to timorously pay civil servants their salaries. The country is on a knife edge."

The MDC-T also called on President Robert Mugabe and the current cabinet to step down and allow for the holding of elections that will be run and supervised by global organisation United Nations, the Southern African Development Committee (SADC) and the European Union, since they doubt the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission is capable of running an election that will pass the test of legitimacy .
