<vote /> Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association spokesperson Mr Douglas Mahiya has been granted bail. The state had opposed Mahiya's bail resulting in Magistrate Chikwekwe postponing the matter for ruling to 3 pm.

Mahiya appeared before Harare magistrate Chikwekwe facing charges of undermining the authority of or insulting the President. He was arrested for chairing a meeting which resulted in the issuing of a communique that denounced Robert Mugabe's leadership.

However other war veterans Victor Mutemadanda and Francis Nhando are still in police custody. Matemadanda was arrested at Mahiya's bail hearing. (read more here)

The war veteran was represented by Harrison Nkomo who represented This Flag Movement coordinator Evan Mawarire who condemned the arrest of Mahiya and appealed to government to release him. (watch video here)
