News:Mighty Warriors Lose 6-1 To Germany

<vote /> The Mighty Warriors made their Olympic Games debut with a 6-1 loss to Germany. Germany dominated proceedings from the onset restricting the Mighty Warriors into defending for most of the game.

Despite the possession Germany enjoyed it took them 22 minutes to finally unlock the Mighty Warriors with Sara Dabritz heading in. Germany added a second in the 36th minute when the Mighty Warriors again struggled to deal with the aerial threat as Alexandar Popp rose high to score.

In the 50th minute Kudakwashe Bhasopo stunned the German team when she scored after good build play by the Mighty Warriors much to the delight of the rest of the Zimbabwean contingent and most of the stadium that were behind the Mighty Warriors for most of the game. Zimbabwe’s joy was however short lived though as Germany scored minutes later through Melanie Behringer’s curling free kick.

German player Behringer added a fourth before Leupolz scored the fifth from the penalty spot after Majika was judged to have committed a foul. On the 90th minute mark Eunice Banda scored an own goal attempting to clear to make it 6-1 for Germany.
