<vote /> Speaker of parliament Jacob Mudenda today declared Chimanimani West Constituency vacant after Munacho Mutezo was expelled by Zanu-PF after he joined former Vice President Joice Mujuru's Zimbabwe People First.

In April 2016, Zanu-PF central committee member and minister of State for Manicaland Province Mandi Chimene confirmed to Daily News that Mutezo had joined Mujuru's party,

Mutezo is now a People First member, after he told us that he was leaving Zanu-PF. All that we did as a province was to follow the normal procedure that follows after someone has decided to join another party.

People First spokesperson Rugare Gumbo also confirmed the development and said,

We have been working with him for quiet sometime now and he has been taking part in many of our programmes attending meetings. I do not know what you want to call that. You can get in touch with him and hear from the horse's mouth.

In August the Herald reported that Mutezo had been expelled from Zanu PF after the party's Politburo upheld recommendations by the Zanu-PF disciplinary appeals and review committee of the Central Committee, chaired by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, to expel the suspended legislator after he failed to defend himself on the allegations he was facing.

The expulsion of Eng Mutezo from Parliament will pave way for a by-election in the Chimanimani West constituency.
