News:Pastor Evan Mawarire Arrested. To Be Charged with Inciting Public Violence and Disturbing Peace

<vote /> Pastor-Evan-Mawarire-This-Flag.jpg The founder of the #ThisFlag movement, Pastor Evan Mawarire, has been arrested and is being charged with Section 36 of the Criminal Law (Codification and reform) Act Chapter 9:23. for "inciting public violence and disturbing peace". Mawarire handed himself over to the police for questioning on the morning of Tuesday 12 July 2016.

The announcement was made via a pre-recorded video that Mawarire himself recorded so it could be released if he got arrested or abducted. The video:

Mawarire himself had announced of his Facebook page the previous night that the police had called him in for questioning and that he would comply.

It appears that after handing himself in the police, he was arrested.

Mawarire spearheaded the successful stay-away of 6 July 2016, with most working Zimbabweans heeding his call to stay away from work in a bid to make government respond to pleas for better governance. Mawarire announced, after the successful stay away that he was asking Zimbabweans to heed his call for a further 2 day stay away from Wednesday 13 July to Thursday, 14 July 2016. He has been arrested a day before the commencement of the second stay away.
