<vote /> Police yesterday arrested seven people in Harare and Bulawayo following alleged isolated cases of violence triggered by businesses’ refusal to heed calls for a national shutdown organised by local Tajamuka/Sesjikile Campaign.

According to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights those arrested in Bulawayo include freelance journalist Crispen Ndlovu, political activists Mthokozisi Ncube, Lenny Kuzwarira, Hampton Maphosa, Plaxedes Denge, Lwandlelubanzi Ndebele and Alfred Dzirutwe said to be members of the Bulawayo Youth Arize.

In Harare police arrested Taurayi Chodeva and Lawrence Tanga in Glen Norah, after they stoned Mr Irvine Mubayiwa’s vehicle. Mubayiwa gave chase and apprehended the two who were in the company of several youths who fled the scene when the public gave chase.
