News:Six juveniles die during baptism

<vote /> Six children died following a baptism ritual in Mashonaland East Province in the early morning of Wednesday.

National police spokesperson, Charity Charamba, confirmed the incident and said that the incident occurred when Prophets Maud Dzvuke and Jane Ruvinga took nine juveniles for baptism in a stream known as Mutorahuku.

Police have identified the deceased as, Tafadzwa Dzvuke, Tinotenda Dzvuke, Emmanuel Dzvuke, Blessing Muvadi, Patience Pfumbidza and Shamiso Pfumbidza. The children were from different villages under headman Mutengwa in chief Neshangwe's area.

The matter came to light when one of the juveniles ran from the stream and met one Tony Kondo who noticed that she was shivering due to coldness. The juvenile narrated the incident to Kondo who then went to the stream to investigate.Upon arrival Kondo noticed that the children were frothing from the mouth. When of the prophetesses realised what was happening she ordered Kondo to take the juveniles to her shrine for prayers.

Upon realising that their patients had died the two prophetesses ran away and were later arrested and charged with culpable homicide. Police warned members of the public to disist from engaging in dangerous practices under the guise of freedom of worship.
