News:State Opposes Mahiya's Bail. Ruling To Be Made At 3 PM

<vote /> Magistrate Chikwekwe granted war veteran Douglas Mahiya $300 bail and advised him to report twice to CID but prosecution has opposed bail. Court was adjourned and the ruling will be made 3 pm.

Scores of people attended Mahiya's bail hearing among them human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, former Zanu-PF member and People First leader Joice Mujuru and fellow war veteran Victor Matemadanda who was arrested outside of the Magistrates Court.(read full story here)

Mahiya is being represented by Harrison Nkomo who represented Pastor Evan Mawarire in a similar case which was declared unconstitutional by the magistrate.(read story here). The war veteran Douglas Mahiya is being charges with undermining the authority of or insulting the President.
