News:Villagers In Hurungwe Resort To Eating Baboons Due To Drought
A Masvingo based newspaper Masvingo Mirror has reported that villagers in Hurungwe are now eating baboons for their meat.
A Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife official who was interviewed by the paper on of grounds of anonymity confirmed the development and said,
We are experiencing a rare form of poaching here as a result drought. This is our first time to realise that people eat baboon meat. This is happening because of drought. The people are doing so because they are facing starvation.
When the paper contacted National Parks spokesperson Caroline Washaya-Moyo for a comment she said that she was out of the country.
