<vote /> Zanu-PF has reconsidered Bikita West parliamentary aspirant Elias Musakwa's application, who had previously been disqualified to contest the forthcoming by-election over his alleged links to former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s opposition Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) party.

Party commissar Saviour Kasukuwere yesterday said Musakwa had been included among eight Zanu PF candidates to contest in the primary elections set for Saturday where the winner will represent the ruling party in the by-election.

The Bikita West seat fell vacant last month after Munyaradzi Kereke was recalled from Parliament following his 10-year incarceration for rape. Musakwa had been disqualified together with Wellington Mutisi, Tichaona Mandebvu and Douglas Makuku, who were also reinstated. The four will battle it out in the Zanu PF primaries against Geoffrey Murire, Gibson Mashingaidze, Beauty Chabaya and Joshua Dhewa.

Kasukuwere also said nine candidates would contest party primaries for the Norton constituency where Christopher Mutsvangwa was recalled and expelled from Zanu PF for alleged indiscipline. These include Ronald Chindedza, Margaret Zvinavashe, Bybit Tsomondo, Joyce Marufu Mukazhi, Nyasha Simon Sibiya, Langton Mutendereki, Godrey Chikowore, Nyarai Janipher Makamba and Flavian Chikabinda Charumbira. The Norton primary elections will also be held on Saturday.
