News:Zimbabweans Call Out Supa Mandiwanzira For Plagiarising Lesotho's Cyber Crime Bill
<vote /> Zimbabwe's Computer Crime and Cyber Crime Bill has been criticised by citizens as a plagiarism of Lesotho's bill which was drafted in 2013.
Prominent lawyer Alex Magaisa called out Minister of ICT Supa Mandiwanzira on the bill stating that the Minister plagiarised Lesotho's bill. In a tweet on his Twitter account Magayisa said, <shtml version="2" keyname="Wiki admin" hash="cc93c633b5656502216e56c1522e3b8eb4ab0e5fed280475f7815d0e270a1cf4">
A <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Zimbabwe?src=hash">#Zimbabwe</a> ombudsman once plagiarised the Indian ombudsman's report. Now a <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Zimbabwe?src=hash">#Zimbabwe</a> Minister has plagiarised a law from Lesotho.

A Twitter user inquired why Mandiwanzira had copied the Lesotho draft instead of another country, <shtml version="2" keyname="Wiki admin" hash="244b2ef54d451dca91120283a465c04ddf75be471b3429af60c2468ae74fa193">

Both drafts are from 2013 so we aren’t sure which government had the draft bill first. There hasn’t been any clarification offered yet and the Minister of ICT, Supa Mandiwanzira, who is active on Twitter is yet to offer a response. It turns out there are other countries in the region like South Africa and Swaziland with drafts that have similar structures and closely related wording.
This could mean that countries in the region that are yet to adopt their own cybercrime legislation were using a framework, perhaps provided by a regional body like the ITU as is the case with Swaziland’s own draft.
