Philip "Pip" Kembo is a Zimbabwean born music producer based in the United States. He has worked with musicians such as Trey Songz and Sean Paul. He is part of a group of Zimbabwean music producers compromising of Brian Soko, Tatenda Kamera and Tinashe "T-Collar" Sibanda.

Background

He has brothers Silas and Arthur.[1]

Education

Kembo went to Hartmann House Primary and then St. George’s college. He was also the Headboy.[2]

Career

In an interview he said that he got interested in producing music when he was about 11 when his friend introduced him to a program called Fruity Loops (FL Studio). The friend showed Kembo how to create drum loops and to make songs on the computer. Since he always had an interest in music from playing in the school marching band and being in the choir he was excited by the program and encouraged by the reactions of his friends when Ihe would play them drum loops he had made he decided to pursue music production.[2]

He co-produced and co-wrote the song 1x1 which is on R&B star’s Trey Songz’s album titled Tremaine The Album. Kembo co-wrote 1x1 with Sermstyle, John Mitchell, and Nate Cyphert. In 2016 he co-produced Jamaican superstar Sean Paul’s single titled No Lie with Sermstyle. The song Hey Ma which he co-wrote with Tinashe "T-Collar" Sibanda, Sermstyle, John Mitchell and Soaky Siren was part of American action film, The Fate of the Furious. The song, done by Pitbull, J Balvin and Camila Cabello, has an English and Spanish version.[1]

In Zimbabwe, Kembo has worked with Simba Tagz, Fungai Nengare, Dj Macson, Vaeso, Dutch and Taps Mugadza.[2]
