  • 6 February 1959: Leonard Dembo, the Chitekete hit-maker is born on this day in Chirimhanzu, Midlands.
  • 6 February 1980: Former Zimbabwean Warriors defensive midfielder, Esrom Nyandoro was born on this day.
  • 6 February 1993: Tinashe Jørgensen Kachingwe popular American singer-songwriter, dancer, actress and former model is born, to a Zimbabwean father, Michael Kachingwe and a Danish mother.
  • 6 February 2005: The government awards war veterans a hefty pension increment. This is suspected to be a move to prepare for general elections, less than eight weeks away. The war vets (numbering about 6,000) would get Z$3 million, up from Z$200,000 a month. In addition they'd also get a $10 million once-off payment.
  • 6 February 2007: 79 students from NUST and Bulawayo Polytechnic are arrested in Bulawayo after a demonstration over unaffordable fees and deteriorating standards.
