The Book Cafe is a social and cultural platform that was based in Harare, Zimbabwe. It was founded by Paul Bricknell, who was the head of Pamberi Trust an NGO that is big in fostering arts, cultural performances, theatre performances, academic engagement and literature.
The venue claimed fame in the local and international circles for hosting some famous musical, intellectual, theatre and artistic performances. Artists whose careers were arguably launched from the event include local musicians such as the late Chiwoniso Maraire, Ba Shupi, Jah Prayzah and Alexio Kawara.
It would shut its doors for the last on 31 May 2015 after having gone through months of struggle in trying to stay afloat due to financial hardships.
