Rodwell Makoto is a Zimbabwean chess player. He was national champion in 2007, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016. He won South African open ahead of top players in 2012. He was awarded the Sports Man of the Year award in 2012 and was part of the Zimbabwe Chess Olympiad team in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Childhood and Education
Rodwell Makoto is an only child. He grew up in Mabvuku attended Batanai Primary School for primary school, and Msengezi High school, in Chegutu and Prince Edward school, Harare, Zimbabwe for secondary school. He also studied Computer Science at the University of South Africa.

He has coached chess in schools round Randburg area and Boskop primary school in Honeydew.
In 2017 he conducted a number of high intensity chess clinics for selected trainees in Kenya.
