Tatenda Pinjisi is a Zimbabwean Sungura musician. He has taken the music industry by storm especially the Sungura genre where he is proving to be the saviour for the now fading music genre which was a toast of the day in the yesteryear. He became popular with his debut album 'Rumbidzo Kumusiki' and is riding high with the track "Saina". This track received massive airplay on local radio stations on its release.[1]

Background

Tatenda Pinjisi is younger brother to another sungura musician Howard Pinjisi and the two once worked together on the album "Umbiridzo" by his elder brother, where he was an instrumentalist. His music career began while in Grade Six before stepping his foot in the studio (Grammar Records) while doing Form 3. In 2007 he came to Harare and joined Zvishavane Sounds as a rhythm guitarist with his brother in the same ensemble led by Gift Amuli. He left Zvishavane Sounds in February 2013 and became a session artist with a number of bands.

In the same year 2013, he became a ember of the popular UMOJA group before going solo in 2015 after setting up his own recording label Super Cream Studios. He fronts the Holy Super Sounds band and he was enjoying favors from promoters as far as live shows were concerned. On December 23, 2015 he released his debut album that received an overwhelming response. He also did videos for some of the songs with the hit track "Saina" attracting over 84 000 YouTube views in eight months.

There was an outcry after the song Saina got position seven on Radio Zimbabwe Coca Cola top 50 with his fans claiming that he deserved the top spot that was occupied by the song Madam Boss done by Leonard Zhakata. In 2018 he released another album titled "Chibhakera Chenyasha" simply translated Fist of Grace. The album was well received compared to his debut album with hit track "Dzikirira" being a favorite for the people since it touches on social life of people. on this album he engaged the services of a female backing vocalist, Talent Muzhanye, whose input spiced the whole album.[2]
