Tawanda Mufundisi

Tawanda Mufundisi is a Zimbabwean Karateka and the national karate senior man Under-70kg champion. He has been a karateka for 24 years and represented Zimbabwe for 15 years.[1]

History

He won a bronze medal at the the World Kyokushinkai tournament in 2010. On 7 September 2014, Mufundisi was injured at the International Karate Federation Matushima World Cup in Durban, South Africa. Mufundisi fractured his fibula and tibia bones while aiming a low kick in the semi-finals of the lightweight category. [2]

In November 2016, Tawanda Mufundisi was banned from taking part in the sport by the Zimbabwe Karate Union (ZKU) for alleged misconduct following a disciplinary hearing in October 2016. This was after he had criticized the decisions made by the judges during the So Kyokushin All-Africa Tournament in August 2016. Six months were suspended, on condition that he paid a fine of $100 before the end of the year.[3]
