Webster Rusere is the current Managing Director of FBC Bank Limited. He was appointed to the position in 2011 after a restructuring exercise which saw him replacing Livingstone Gwata.

Background

He started his banking career in 1982 and rose through the ranks to become Head, Global Trade Finance and Cash Management Services with a local multinational bank in 1995. Rusere also worked in various senior positions covering local and foreign treasury management.[1] Rusere worked at the financial institution since its inception in the year 1998.[2]

Rusere at FBC

Webster Rusere joined FBC Holdings in the year 1998 as the Project Manager. He was promoted to become the Managing Director of FBC Bank Congo Sarl until 2002.[1] After the tenure of the DRC contract, Rusere appointed Head, Retail Banking Division. He was the Managing Director for FBC Building Society before his appointment as FBC Bank Managing Director in June 2011. At one point Rusere was the President of the Bankers Association of Zimbabwe (BAZ).

Controversy

Rusere along with other top officials at FBC were said to be earning a lot of money which was said to be bleeding the financial institution, costing it around $1 291 857 annually. This was figure was only for the over 13 member board of FBC.[3] The Group was said to have a salary and allowances bill amounting to $17 102 184, up from $8 069 096 lost for the year ended December 31, 2010.
