Wiridzayi Nguruve was the first black Commissioner of the Zimbabwe Republic Police(ZRP)

History

Wiridzayi Rodwell Nguruve joined the police force, which was then known as the British South Africa Police as a constable in 1960. Arfter Zimbabwe gained independence. He became the first black commissioner in 1982.[1]. Nguruve served as commissioner until 1 February 1985 when he was suspended pending the report of an inquiry into allegations of police involvement in drug trafficking. [2] Nguruve was replaced as police commissioner later on in 1985 by Henry Mkurazhizha.
