Alfonso Zvenyika who is popularly known as Mosquito is a former Zimbabwean boxer who is originally from Mozambique, who is also won Commonwealth Flyweight Boxing Championship. He has now opened his own boxing academy, theMosquito Boxing Gym in Mbare.

Notwithstanding that Zvenyika was one of the prominent and successful boxers to emerge from the country, he is now living in abject poverty. In 2013, it was allegedly reported that one of his numerous friends settled his electricity bill which was for 11 years.[1] He opened his own institution, the Mosquito Boxing Academy in Mbare and has since been training aspiring boxers.

Death Rumours

It was rumoured that Zvenyika had died. Zvenyika however dispelled this rumour stating that another boxer with the same surname's as his had passed away and due to the fact that Zvenyika was popular the media was awash with news of his death.
