Douglas Mahiya is a Zimbabwean politician and a member of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association. Mahiya is also a member of the Zanu-PF party.

Arrest

Mahiya was arrested on July 27, 2016 for presiding over a war veterans meeting that denounced Robert Mugabe. At the same meeting, a communiqué was issued to members of the media. Among other things, the communiqué pointed out that war veterans had renounced President Mugabe’s leadership.[1]
