The Zanu-PF Generation 40, or G40 for short, is a group for young turks in the Zanu-PF political party in Zimbabwe. The group was formed in 2014 and is characterized of younger Zanu-PF members who are savvy and educated and have ambitions to have one of them become the president of the country. The group is said to be led by Zanu-PF political commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere but is fronted by the first lady, Grace Mugabe. In 2015, the group was said to be working to sideline, country vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa from becoming the next president of Zimbabwe.

Source of Name

The term Generation 40 was reported to have been derived from a constitutional provision in Zimbabwe’s supreme law allowing anyone above the age of 40 to be a presidential candidate.
