The Zanu-PF Generation 40, or G40 for short, is a group of Zanu PF politicians believed to be working against the possibility of Emmerson Mnangagwa (Lacoste Faction) succeeding President Robert Mugabe as president of Zimbabwe. Recent tentive evidence indicates they may be in favour of Mugabe's wife Grace Mugabe taking over from her husband as president.
The group is believed to be characterized of younger Zanu-PF members who are savvy and educated. The group is said to be led by Jonathan Moyo and Zanu-PF political commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere but is fronted by the first lady, Grace Mugabe.

Kasukuwere denial of G40 Existence
In October 2015, Kasukuwere denied the existence of a Generation 40 group saying "“G40 was a creation of Rugare Gumbo and his clique and anyone who regurgitates that is in agreement with him,”
Jonathan Moyo on the G40 Existence
In May 2015, Jonathan Moyo Tweeted that a generation of young people was a reality in all political parties
So called Generation 40 or G40 can't be a Zanu PF faction save for open mouths & shut minds. G40 is a demographic reality across parties!
Source of Name
The term Generation 40 was reported to have been derived from a constitutional provision in Zimbabwe’s supreme law allowing anyone above the age of 40 to be a presidential candidate.
