Joseph Mtakwese Made is a Zimbabwean politician, currently serving as Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development.

Political Career

Joseph Made was Agricultural Rural Development Authority’s (ARDA)Chief Executive Officer and was also well versed with the land issue as one of ARDA's main responsibilities was training farmers and implementing rural development programmes. He was involved in the negotiations for the 1998 agreement on land redistribution. President Robert Mugabe appointed him minister of Agriculture minister in 2000.[1]

Positions Held

Joseph Made was made Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement, 2000-07. Made was nominated as ZANU-PF's candidate for the House of Assembly seat from Makoni West, a constituency in Manicaland, in the March 2008 parliamentary election. He was defeated by Webber Chinyadzaof the Movement for Democratic Change led by Tsvangirai (MDC-T). When the Government of National Unity (GNU) was sworn in on February 13, 2009, Made became Minister of Agriculture again. He became minister of Agriculture Mechanizaton; Minister of Agriculture, 2009 to date. [2].
