Riverside Solar Power Station is a solar scheme on a 40 hectare site at Musvaire Village, at Mutoko. The 2.4MW PGI scheme was commissioned in January 2018.
Musvaire village, Mutoko, Mashonaland East Province.
The Riverside Solar Power Station occupies a 40 hectare site outside Mutoko, Zimbabwe. The first stage of the development was to install 2.5MW of capacity on one quarter of the available land. This first state was commissioned in January 2018 and will generate 4 700 MWh pa into the grid. The first stage was developed using a variety of technologies. Both mono and poly crystalline panels have been installed on both fixed and tracking frames. When the relative output of each different design is understood, progress to the second stage will be undertaken, doubling its size to 5 MW.
Commissioned: January 2018 Installed capacity: 2.5 MW 2018 output: 4 795 MWh
In July 2018, Nyangani Renewable Energy submitted its application to the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) to amend its licence. “The amendment of the licence entails increasing the installed capacity of the power station from the current 2,5MW to 10MW.”
