Urungwe Safari Area extends eastwards from Kariba town, along the Zambezi River, through Chirundu, to the Mana Pools National Park boundary. It's northern border is the Zambezi, it's southern border is the escarpment.

History

Urungwe was proclaimed a Controlled Hunting Area in 1968.
Urungwe was redesignated a Safari Area under the Parks and Wildlife Act (1975).
An area, the "Rifa Triangle", west of Chirundu, is leased to the Zimbabwe Hunters Association, who run the Rifa Conservation Education Camp there.
