Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above post which has arisen within the Zimbabwe Gender Commission. Reports to: Chief Executive Officer.

To provide Public Relations Services to the Commission and reports to Chief Executive Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of the PR policy, strategy and programmes as well as procedures.
  • Manage the development of public information materials, graphic design and production, and audio-visual production in a variety of media.
  • Manage development and maintenance of website and content.
  • Manage social media platforms and relationships. 5. Coordinate the implementation of the organisation's corporate image enhancement programmes.
  • Coordinate the design of promotional materials for the organisation.
  • Coordinate and organise publicity outreach programmes.
  • Prepare for news and press coverage.
  • Supervise the maintenance and updating of the Zimbabwe Gender Commission website.
  • Supervise preparation of and edit publications.
  • Prepare responses to requests for information by stakeholders.
  • Participate in the establishment and maintenance of relationships with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate advertising and Public Relations activities of the Commission.
  • Participate in the production of organizational jingles and publicity themes, and documentaries.
  • Supervise the preparation and organization of conferences as well as participation in exhibitions. 
  • Liaise with media organizations and advertising agencies.
  • Conduct Media Monitoring and coordinates responses to media enquiries.
  • Supervise staff and coordinate performance appraisal in the department.
  • Prepare departmental estimates of expenditure.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5'0' Levels including English Language.
  • Degree in Public Relations, Mass Communication, or Media Studies or equivalent.
  • A Masters degree or a higher qualification is an added advantage.
  • 5 years relevant experience as a communications manager or public relations officer or an equivalent post.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability and tenacity to work with Government and other stakeholders.
  • Must be a person of high integrity, professionalism, assertiveness and innovation.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages.
  • A clean class four (4) driver's licence.
