Job Description

The company is inviting suitably qualified, motivated and experienced staff to fill the following vacancy that has arisen in Zimbabwe Power Company. 

This is a key position in Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) reporting to the Senior Manager - Human Resources at Head Office. The main purpose of this job is to work closely with the Training and Development Manager at ZESA National Training Centre in providing strategic leadership to all areas of ZPC in the design, delivery and management of learning and development programs and activities to ensure a skilled and competent workforce.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the development and successful implementation of effective learning and development programs and strategies across ZPC.
  • Develop, implement and monitor a corporate and technical training framework, and associated practices to ensure the workforce is skilled and competent to meet business requirements and regulatory obligations now and in the future.
  • Provide high level research, advice and consultancy support, at all levels regarding the provision of learning and development strategies, systems and processes across ZPC Power Stations and external contractors where required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business, government, educational and industry bodies to ensure ZPC's training framework meets organizational and industry needs.
  • Lead the training team to ensure the achievement of strategic training objectives and provision of effective service delivery as outlined in the Corporate Business Plan. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Adegree in Engineering or Social Science.
  • At least 8 years' relevant experience of which 5 should be at a senior level.
  • Post Graduate qualification such as an MBA/MBL or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • A Diploma in Training is a requirement.
  • Membership of a recognized professional institution.

Essential Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge and proven ability in the design, delivery and coordination of learning and development frameworks and programs in a diverse and complex organizational environment.
  • Experience in, developing and delivering training and development strategies.
  • Highly developed leadership and management skills to lead, develop and maintain working relationships at all levels and across diverse groups.
