A vehicle belonging to a leader of the African Apostolic Church led by <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Paul_Mwazha">Paul Mwazha</a> was burnt to ashes in Mutare the Sunday before last Sunday.
The <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/mwazha-succession-dispute-turns-nasty/">Manica Post</a> reported that the African Apostolic Church now has three factions, with each one of them led by Mwazha’s sons.
Bishop Tekeshe’s Isuzu truck was burnt to ashes at his Fern Valley home, with insiders claiming that it was due to the endless disputes over control of the church.
Tekeshe is reportedly aligned to Bishop Alfred Kushamisa, the Archbishop’s second-born son.
When contacted for comment by The Manica Post, one of the other faction’s leaders, Bishop Moses Mwagura said:
<blockquote>
This issue is very clear and you should not have challenges in reporting it. It all started with some people trying to wrestle control of the church from Mutumwa Mwazha.
They were later defeated at the Supreme Court after it was ruled that their actions were unconstitutional.
Now, as time is progressing, we are now witnessing a division between Ngoni, Archbishop Paul Mwazha’s firstborn son and his second-born son, Alfred Kushamisa, known as AK.
They are now up against each other, leading to the nasty destruction of property. This has nothing to do with our church.
We are actually concerned that this is happening to people we used to congregate with.
This is not what we would have expected from people who claim to be Christians and who follow the peaceful word of our Lord.

The three factions are allegedly led by Bishop Alfred Kushamisa Mwazha, Bishop Tawanda Mwazha and Bishop Ngoni Mwazha, respectively.
The divisions within the African Apostolic Church have resulted in the formations appointing their own pastors and leaders while conducting services at different places of worship.

Paul Mwazha Church Bishop's Vehicle Burnt To Ashes

Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care Constantino Chiwenga has commended the African Apostolic Church (AAC) for raising disciplined children.
Chiwenga was speaking to AAC members at the Guvambwa shrine, Sadza growth point, in Wedza on Saturday.
The church, which was founded by Paul Mwazha, does not allow its members to consume alcohol or smoke cigarettes.
Chiwenga said he was happy with the role the African Apostolic Church was playing in nurturing disciplined children. He said:

I am here representing His Excellency, President Mnangagwa, and also on my own behalf as his deputy as per your invitation.
I am happy with the role the African Apostolic Church is playing in nurturing disciplined children.
It is pleasing to see a huge crowd like this, of people who were raised and taught not to drink, smoke or take anything that intoxicates them.
Drugs have destroyed many families. They are of no benefit, they just harm and keep you away from the Lord.
If we do not nurture disciplined children, then the future of the church and indeed the country as a whole is doomed.
</blockquote>
He also lauded the church for its role in emancipating women and uplifting their lives.
Unlike some apostolic sects which suppress women’s right to education and turn a blind eye to child marriages, AAC values women’s education. Said Chiwenga:
<blockquote>
I am happy to see that you, as a church, are promoting the rights of women by sending them to school to get their education so that they will have a role to play in the future of our country.
</blockquote>
Bishop Israel Mwazha, who stood in for his father Archbishop Paul Mwazha, assured Chiwenga that the church will continue supporting ZANU PF without wavering. He said:
<blockquote>
President Mnangagwa is leading the country with wisdom. We are seeing a lot of development.
If you look at infrastructure projects in the country, investors are coming to Zimbabwe, growing economic spaces.
We pray for peace in the upcoming elections, and we will not vacillate in our support for ZANU PF.
</blockquote>
The African Apostolic Church was founded by Ernest Paul Mamvura Mwazha (born on 25 October 1918).
Mwazha started Roman Catholic Catechism classes at the age of 11 and later joined the Methodist Church and became a teacher with them.

Paul Mwazha Church Pledges Unwavering Support To ZANU PF

African Apostolic Church (AAC) cleric, Bishop Tafa, who is one of the sons of Bishop Paul Mwazha, the church’s founder, has pledged his support and that of his followers to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and ZANU PF in the 2023 elections.
Tafa was speaking on Saturday during a church service in Chirumanzu which was attended by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

WATCH: Paul Mwazha Church Leader Pledges Allegiance To ZANU PF

Paul Mwazha, Archibishop of one of the country’s largest indigenous church denominations, the African Apostolic Church, reportedly ordered his followers to vote for ZANU PF or risk being de-churched.
In an undated video circulating on social media, an unidentified man wearing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s trademark Zimbabwean scarf told a gathering of church members that all congregants who vote against ZANU PF will be excommunicated. The man said:

The African Apostolic Church is the one that prays for the nation. For this country to know peace you are the ones who pray, you are the ones who pray for President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Your Paul Mwazha said to all African Apostolics, anyone who votes against ZANU PF will be chased out of the church.
None of you will be harassed as long as we are there, as long as the president is there, I will go and tell him if there is anything that is troubling you.

Speaking at an event organised by the church to celebrate Paul Mwazha’s legacy at Mapembe Shrine last month, Javangwe said:

Mwazha Church Tells Congregants To Vote ZANU PF Or Face Expulsion

The African Apostolic Church (AAC), founded by <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Paul_Mwazha">Paul Mwazha</a>, has assured ZANU PF that its members will continue to vote for the ruling party in national elections.
The church’s chairperson for publicity Bishop Gwatirera Javangwe assured the Government of the church’s continued support. Said Javangwe:

Archbishop Mwazha always taught us to vote for ZANU PF. The church and government are one thing. I promise that we will continue working closely with our government. That’s our assurance.
</blockquote>
Javangwe made the remarks at an event organised by the church to celebrate Paul Mwazha’s legacy at Mapembe Shrine.
Speaking at the same function, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa, who was the guest, said:
<blockquote>
The President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, is proud of the great works by Archbishop Paul Mwazha and his church. We want the church to remain united and as government we value unity.
We want the work started by Archbishop Mwazha to continue and we look forward to support from the church.
Archbishop Mwazha’s political convictions have remained consistent over the years.
He was amongst the first six people to sign the petition against the illegal sanctions because he could not countenance grave injustices being visited upon the people of Zimbabwe by the vindictive West.
He loves the African people and has religiously devoted his entire life to the African people and their cause.

Mutsvangwa also urged church members to remain united in advancing Mwazha’s legacy and asked the church to pray for Mnangagwa. She said:

This church should continue to promote the legacy of archbishop Mwazha. We appeal for unity in promoting the word of God and the church leader’s legacy.
We are happy with the cordial relations between the church and government as we work together to improve the lives of the people. Government can go it alone as people require spiritual upliftment. We value the great work that you do.
As we celebrate his life and divine commission, we pray for our country Zimbabwe and pray for its leaders and more so let’s all pray for His Excellency, President Mnangagwa.
It’s not possible for government not to work closely with church leaders like Archbishop Mwazha and his church. This is because the work we do is complimentary.
The leaders need the church’s spiritual support and therefore we work closely with the church.

"Archbishop Mwazha Always Taught Us To Vote For ZANU PF"

Alfred Kushamisa, a son to African Apostolic Church (AAC) founder <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Paul_Mwazha">Paul Mwazha</a>, has ignored a Supreme Court order which barred him from purporting to be the archbishop and successor to his aged father.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court upheld part of a High Court ruling on the succession dispute in the AAC nullifying the appointment of Kushamisa as successor to his father.
The court ruled that the church’s constitution stipulates that the Council of Bishops cannot choose a successor to the Archbishop unless he is absent “by apology, illness or death.”
However, according to Nickiel Mushangwe, the lawyer representing Mwazha, Kushamisa at the weekend organised a meeting to confer him as church leader against the Supreme Court ruling. Said Mushangwe:

We have filed an urgent chamber application in the High Court against Kushamisa and his team.
They held a meeting against a court order where they deliberated on the issue of succession. The matter is set for today.
They are claiming to be in charge of church affairs on the basis that they held this meeting of the priesthood council, which at law was illegal and fraudulent.
They did not invite other members who must sit in that meeting. We want to stop them from acting in the purported capacity of the archbishop.
</blockquote>
According to the church’s constitution, Mwazha is the permanent head of the church and in the event of his demise, the congregational priesthood, which comprises all his biological sons and bishops in the church, shall make decisions unanimously.
Mwazha has delegated some of his duties to his bishops, who are his biological sons, but the debate in the church is on who will take over in the event of his death.
