Secondary Teacher Education 2025 Intake

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Lazarus Dokora introduced a <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/New_Education_Curriculum_Zimbabwe">New Education Curriculum</a> for Ordinary Level.  The number of compulsory subjects has been set at 7 and the standard number of subjects has been set at 10.    The new curriculum also sets a maximum of 2  more subjects for those who wished to pursue more.  Meaning that the maximum number of subjects is 12.
According to the new curriculum,  the 7 compulsory subjects are:

<li>Agriculture</li>
<li>Physical Education and Sport and Mass Display</li>
<li>General Science</li>
<li>Mathematics</li>
<li>Indigenous Languages</li>
<li>English Language</li>
<li>Heritage Studies</li>
</ol>
After these 7 compulsory languages,  students will be allowed to choose three more elective subjects. Those students who wish to increase the number of subjects will be allowed to add an additional 2 subjects, meaning they will be choosing 5 subjects.
The Elective Subjects are:

<li>Computer Science</li>
<li>Geography</li>
<li>Physics</li>
<li>Chemistry</li>
<li>Biology</li>
<li>Additional Mathematics</li>
<li>Pure Mathematics</li>
<li>Statistics</li>
<li>History</li>
<li>Sociology</li>
<li>Economic History</li>
<li>Family and Religious Studies.</li>
</ul>
 
The other elective subjects are:
<ul>
<li>Business and Enterprise Skills</li>
<li> Commerce</li>
<li>Commercial Studies</li>
<li>Economics</li>
<li>Principles of Accounts</li>
<li>Building Technology and Design Forms,</li>
<li>Design and Technology</li>
<li>Food Technology</li>
<li>Metal Technology and Design</li>
<li>Home Management and Design</li>
<li>Technical Graphics and Design</li>
<li>Textile Technology and Design</li>
<li>Wood Technology and Design</li>
<li>Art</li>
<li>Dance</li>
<li>Musical and theatre</li>
</ul>
The new curriculum came into full effect this term, with emphasis being put on strengthening Mathematics, Science, Technology, Vocational studies, Humanities and Heritage studies that would be made compulsory at all level.

New curriculum for Ordinary Level, 7 compulsory subjects, 10 standard,  maximum number capped at 12

The company that was challenging the ownership  of the e-MAP  system in court has withdrawn its challenge. This means the the Ministry of primary and Secondary Education is now free to continue using the system.
The software company, Purple Divine Technology,  had claimed that that it owned the form one enrolment system. The ministry’s lawyers argued that a different company called ZimAssist owned the system.
According to the Herald,  Justice Chitapi then said that the application was defective and improper before the court. This led to the withdrawal of the challenge.
Dokora said of the withdrawal:
<blockquote>People must learn to appreciate that which is helpful for the system,” he said in an interview. “We want a transparent mechanism that will assist all our people, rich and poor, all our people in the rural and urban areas, as well as the farming communities to benefit from a transparent system.</blockquote>
