The Deputy Minister of Information, Dr Energy Mutodi has distanced himself from a twitter handle which had earlier commented on the beauty of advocate Fadzayi Mahere.
Advocate Mahere is the Secretary of Education in the opposition MDC led by advocate Nelson Chamisa. The account Hon. Dr Energy Mutodi (PhD) @Tamuka19722659 had commented on Mahere’s photo saying:

Minister Distances Himself From Twitter Handle Which Commented On Mahere's Beauty

Deputy Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Energy_Mutodi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Energy Mutodi</a> has defended the government’s seizure of farms owned by former and current ZANU PF members considered to belong to the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/G40_(Zanu-PF_Faction)" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">G40 faction</a>.
Mutodi said there was nothing amiss in the sequestration of farms owned by Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere and Robert Zhuwawo as the intention is to ensure productivity. Said Mutodi:
<blockquote>Government is taking back all underutilised and in some cases, abandoned agricultural land as we move forward to ensure food security in the country.
The names you have mentioned are former ministers who are in self-imposed exile and have neglected their farms.
We are facing critical shortages of maize, soya beans, oranges and other raw materials because several farms that used to be productive are now lying idle.
It is a clear government policy that such underutilised farms are repossessed by the government and subdivided to create smaller highly productive farm units.</blockquote>
Reports suggest that Mandiitawepi Chimene, Walter Mzembi and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Kudzai_Chipanga" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kudzanai Chipanga’s</a> farms are also in line for repossession as President Emmerson Mnangagwa goes for broke against his rivals.

Mutodi Defends Seizure Of Purported G40 Members' Farms

The MDC youth wing has vowed to press ahead with plans to hold gatherings in commemoration of the 19 people killed last January during protests triggered by a sharp fuel price hike.
The party’s national youth chairperson Obey Sithole told the Daily News on Sunday that they will continue to demand answers until the killers are brought to justice. He said:
<blockquote>As young people, we are going to do everything within our means to remind the world that on that day a gross crime against humanity was committed under (President Emmerson) Mnangagwa’s instruction.
We will continue to demand answers on the efforts that have been made to bring the culprits to book. We are going to have commemorations across the country.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, Deputy Information minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Energy_Mutodi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Energy Mutodi</a> on Sunday chillingly warned that the government will not hesitate to employ the shoot-to-kill policy on violent demonstrators if necessary.

MDC Youths Vow To Go Ahead With January Killings Commemorations

The Deputy Minister for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Energy_Mutodi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Energy Mutodi</a>, has blamed former ZANU PF bigwig, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Saviour_Kasukuwere" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Saviour Kasukuwere</a>, for the shortage of <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mazoe_Orange_Crush" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mazoe Orange Crush</a> in the country.
Mutodi said Kasukuwere took over a once flourishing citrus farm in Mazowe and the farm is now lying idle. Writing on Twitter Mutodi said:
<blockquote>The nation is grappling with an acute shortage of orange fruit necessary to process Zimbabwe’s most popular family drink, Mazowe. Interestingly, Saviour Kasukuwere is one of the farmers who took over a once flourishing citrus farm in Mazowe. The farm is now lying idle.</blockquote>
In response, Kasukuwere told Mutodi that oranges are currently offseason hence, the shortage. The self-exiled former cabinet minister added that his farm is among the top 5 most productive farms in the province (Mashonaland Central).
Since the fast-trek land reform programme was implemented at the turn of the Millenium, Zimbabwe has grappled with shortages of food every year and observers have pinned this on the chaotic land redistribution exercise.

Mutodi Blames Kasukuwere For The Shortage Of Mazoe Orange Crush

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Paul_Nyathi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Paul Nyathi</a> has dismissed social media reports claiming that police intercepted wads of new banknotes linked to Media, Information and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Energy_Mutodi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Energy Mutodi</a>. In a statement, Ass Com. Nyathi said:
<blockquote>The Zimbabwe Republic Police wish to categorically dismiss social media posts that they held a Press conference on the arrest of occupants of a Toyota Wish vehicle with money allegedly being linked to Honourable Mutodi or some political party youths.
Police did not hold such a Press conference as falsely depicted on social media and any other statement being attributed to the police, is totally false.
If at all there was such an arrest, it would be communicated through the normal channels and not through ghost media posts.

The controversial Information Deputy Minister has taken the time to warn fellow ministers that <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/G40_(Zanu-PF_Faction)">G40</a> is back and according to him, planning their demise.

Mutodi Warns Fellow Ministers That G40 Is Plotting To Poison And Bomb Them

International human rights law expert, Pedzisai Ruhanya, and award-winning journalist and filmmaker, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Hopewell_Chin%27ono" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Hopewell Chin’ono,</a> have responded to being labelled sell-outs by the Zimbabwean government after their dispute with SADC executive secretary Stergomena Lawrence Tax on Twitter.
Deputy Information minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Energy_Mutodi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Energy Mutodi</a> had hit out at the duo for “selling out” in a Twitter post earlier on Thursday. In response, Ruhanya said:
<blockquote>You are the biggest loudmouth Energy. I will never sell-out Zimbabwe but won’t be silenced by useless and hopeless wannabes like you Energy. You are not Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe is not ndombolo dance.</blockquote>
Chin’ono mocked the government for being obsessed with attacking journalists for simply telling the truth while doctors are not at work and there is no electricity, fuel, water, among other things. He wrote:

Chin'ono & Ruhanya Respond To "You're Sell-outs" Jibe

The government has labelled a local journalist <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Hopewell_Chin%27ono" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Hopewell Chin’ono</a> and academic Pedzisai Ruhanya, sell-outs following their fall-out with Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Stergomena Lawrence Tax on Twitter.
Writing on microblogging site Twitter on Thursday, Deputy Information minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Energy_Mutodi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Energy Mutodi</a> said:
<blockquote>The Government of Zimbabwe stands with Dr Tax following her sentiments on sell-outs Hopewell Chin’ono, Pedzisai Ruhanya among others who focus on tarnishing the image of the government.
Sell-outs speak bad about their country, seek to please outsiders and are desperate for attention.</blockquote>
Earlier this week, Chin’ono had castigated the Tanzanian President for changing from being a “reformist” to becoming a “hero worshipper”. He also made reference to Lawrence Tax, who is a Tanzanian citizen.
Tax had suggested that Zimbabweans who criticise President Emmerson Mnangagwa do not want to see their country succeed.
Her tweet drew condemnation from Chin’ono, Ruhanya, and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Tsitsi_Dangarembga" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Tsitsi Dangarembga</a>, among other Zimbabweans.

The Information and Publicity and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister using Twitter, took the time to haul insults at Reverend <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Kenneth_Mtata">Keneth Mutata</a> The Zimbabwe Heads Of Christian Denomination Executive Secretary calling for an election sabbatical.
<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Energy_Mutodi">Mutodi</a> called Mtata a fool and a false prophet and demon-possessed in his tweet which reads:
<blockquote>Every nation has mad people &amp; we have our own Kenneth Mtata &amp; his bunch of false prophets. Mutodi Calls Rev Mtata, ZHOCD Executive Calling For An Election Sabbatical A Fool, A False Prophet And Demon Possessed

The government has stopped the construction of a mausoleum at the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_National_Heroes_Acre" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">National Heroes Acre</a> which was meant for the burial of the late former President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Mugabe" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Robert Mugabe</a>.
This was revealed by Information Deputy Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Energy_Mutodi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Energy Mutodi</a> in an interview with <a href="http://NewZimbabwe.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">NewZimbabwe.com</a> on Monday. Said Mutodi:
<blockquote>The mausoleum was earmarked for him at the request of the family and they had a change of mind after construction had already started so obvious construction will stop.
There is no reason why it has to continue to be constructed government will not waste taxpayer’s money to construct something that will not be used any time soon.</blockquote>
The Mugabe family’s requested the government to construct the mausoleum and the project was expected to take at least 30 days. However, the family later decided against a Heroes Acre burial for Mugabe and laid his remains at his rural village on Saturday.

Govt Stops 'Mugabe Mausoleum' Construction

Deputy Information Minister, Energy Mutodi has castigated South Africa’s opposition politician, Julius Malema for the remarks he made on his visit to offer condolences to the late former President Robert Mugabe’s widow, Grace on Monday.
Malema attacked the government of Zimbabwe for denying the Mugabe’s family’s wishes as well as trying to ride on the late national hero’s legacy while they are mere arrivalists who had mistreated Mugabe.
Malema’s comments did not go down well with the Goromonzi West MP who took to Twitter to vent his frustrations. Wrote Mutodi:

Energy Mutodi Accuses Malema Of Trying To Impress Mugabe's "Rich, Young" Widow

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has refused to press charges against a ZANU PF legislator, Energy Mutodi following his declaration on social media that Ndebele people are refugees.
At the height of the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa, Mutodi posted a video on Twitter where he claimed that Zimbabwe was taking care of three million (Ndebele) refugees from South Africa.
A Matabeleland-based secessionist political party, Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) recently pressed criminal charges of violent incitement against Mutodi at the Bulawayo Central Police Station, claiming that Mutodi’s remarks were likely to spark xenophobic attacks against the Ndebeles. Police, however, refused to open a docket.
MRP’s lawyer, Dumisani Dube said they intend to take the case to the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) to seek redress.

Mutodi Avoid Arrest Over 'Xenophobic' Video

Deputy Energy Minister, Energy Mutodi has been chided by ZANU PF Patriots, a group of ruling party supporters active on microblogging site, Twitter. It said in a tweet:
<blockquote>This is too much minister.‼️
You can’t continue to bring bad publicity to the government like this.</blockquote>
Mutodi had posted a message on Twitter in which he said one George Chinamhora, a liberation war detainee was grateful that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed his son as a High Court judge. Said Mutodi:
<blockquote>With Cde George Chinamhora, a liberation war detainee. George sustained serious gunshot injuries during the liberation war. However, George is thankful to His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa for appointing his son Webster Chinamhora as a Judge of the High Court.</blockquote>
Responding to a follower who has suggested that Mutodi had publicised nepotism, the controversial Goromonzi West MP responded:
<blockquote>The selection of judges is watertight. The President only appoints those recommended by JSC after passing interviews. Only those ignorant of this process can allege nepotism.</blockquote>
Mutodi is known for posting what can be considered ill-thought statements on Twitter. Among the highlights, Mutodi said that a female MDC official who had been bashed by ZANU PF supporters was a pr_stit_te.
He also called Ndebele people refugees in Zimbabwe who fled from South Africa during the “Mfecane” about 200 years ago. Mutodi however, apologised for his Ndebele remarks.

'ZANU PF Patriots' Rebuke Mutodi For "Nepotistic" Tweet

Zanu PF secretary for administration, Obert Mpofu, has castigated a ZANU PF MP, Energy Mutodi for making reckless statements that may incite tribal tension in Zimbabwe.
Mutodi, who is the Deputy Information Minister, last week posted a video on social media where he suggested that Ndebele people are refugees from South Africa. He said then:
<blockquote>You will find that here in Zimbabwe, if you didn’t know, just about 1836 we accommodated thousands of South Africans who came into Zimbabwe fleeing from (King) Shaka, and they were being led by Mzilikazi.</blockquote>
Addressing a Zanu PF event in Bulawayo to review the indigenisation and economic empowerment policy, Mpofu expressed anger over Mutodi’s remarks. He said:
<blockquote>There are certain statements by certain leaders which are unacceptable to the party. There was a recent statement where somebody was saying there are three million South Africans in Zimbabwe.
That’s unacceptable, misdirected statement which is not from Zanu PF. You see what’s happening in South Africa (xenophobia), it’s because of such reckless statements.</blockquote>

Obert Mpofu Reprimands Mutodi For 'Reckless' Ndebele Statements

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been told to relieve the deputy Minister of Information, Energy Mutodi of his duties following “reckless” remarks on Zimbabweans of Ndebele origins.
Mutodi had in a video in which he castigates Afrophobia in South Africa said:
<blockquote>South Africans, Zimbabweans we are one people, including people from Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, we are all members of Sadc and we are all working towards the same goal of achiev- ing economic success in our countries. For South Africa, you will find out that in Zimbabwe here, if you didn’t know, just about 1836 we accommodat- ed thousands of South Africans who were fleeing from (the then Zulu king) Shaka. They were led by Mzilikazi (the Ndebele king) and they settled on the western part of Zimbabwe, as I am speaking now, at least three million Zimbabweans have South African origins.</blockquote>
The video attracted a backlash from Zimbabweans from various walks of life. For them, Mutodi meant that Zimbabweans of Ndebele origins were mere refugees in Zimbabwe.
Although the former rhumba musician has since apologised, some have questioned why he is still a deputy Minister whilst others questioned how he got the post in the first place. A Daily News editor said that Mnangagwa must swiftly and firmly descend on Mutodi.
Mutodi has been one of Mnangagwa’s most loyal lieutenants particularly during the climax of the warfare between ZANU PF factions, Team Lacoste headed by Mnangagwa and G40 headed by former first lady, Grace Mugabe.
Therefore, it is not automatic that Mnangagwa will offload Mutodi even after his reckless remarks.

President Mnangagwa Told To Fire "Reckless" Energy Mutodi

A ZANU PF legislator, who is also the Deputy Information Minister, Energy Mutodi, “finally” apologised for his remarks which were deemed offensive by some Zimbabweans.
Mutodi on Monday suggested that millions of Zimbabweans who are of Ndebele-speakers were South Africans who fled from Tshaka, a 19th century Zulu king.
On Wednesday, the Goromonzi West MP deleted the video and used Twitter to apologise. He wrote:
<blockquote>My tweet saying about three million Zimbabweans were of South African descent has riled some Zimbabweans. The tweet has been misunderstood, giving political capital to the opposition.
I wish to withdraw the tweet and unreservedly issue my apologies to whoever was affected.</blockquote>
In the video that stoked anger among Zimbabweans, Mutodi had insinuated that Ndebele people were refugees in Zimbabwe. He said:

Deputy Minister for Information and Publicity, Energy Mutodi, has been condemned for saying that Ndebele people who are Zimbabwean citizens are actually South Africans who were accommodated while fleeing from Tshaka. Mutodi Condemned For His Remarks About Ndebele People And Xenophobia

Deputy Minister for Information and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi has branded MDC Midlands youth assembly chairperson, Sekai Marashe (Muchina) a “prostitute” after she was beaten by suspected ZANU PF youths.
The attack reportedly occurred on Tuesday (today) in Kwekwe when the visibly drunk ZANU PF youths assaulted her, and then took her to their offices where she was further assaulted.
Commenting on the pictures of the battered and bruised “Muchina”, Mutodi said:
<blockquote>These are purely beer drink fights… They have nothing to do with the government or human rights. You are looking for an opportune moment to tarnish the government but unfortunately, we can’t guarantee drunkards and prostitutes will not assault each other during our democratic rule.
… No matter how democratic our government can be, we can never guarantee that drunkards and prostitutes stop fighting.</blockquote>
However, Twitter users castigated Mutodi for being coarse and insensitive for his remarks as it is not something expected of a senior government official.

Deputy Minister for Information and Publicity, Energy Mutodi claimed that Professor Steve Hanke’s year-on-year inflation figures are misleading and need to be ignored. Said Mutodi:
<blockquote>Prof. Steve Hanke’s year-on-year inflation figures are misleading and need to be ignored as they are calculated using a flawed Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM). Otherwise, our month-on-month inflation is very low.</blockquote>
However, in response, the applied economist at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, Hanke said that Mutodi’s ignorance is breathtaking. He wrote:

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has left the country for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit scheduled for this weekend in Tanzania.
This was revealed by the Deputy Minister of Information, Energy Mutodi. Zimbabwe is set to assume the Chairmanship of the SADC Troika.
The OPDSC Troika consists of the Chairperson, Incoming Chairperson and Outgoing Chairperson, and reports to the SADC Summit Chairperson.

A ZANU PF MP, Energy Mutodi, claims that the opposition MDC Alliance’s defeat in the Lupane East by-elections is a foretaste of things to come.
Mutodi, who represents Goromonzi West in the National Assembly and an ally of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, said that his boss will win easily over MDC leader Nelson Chamisa in the 2023 elections.
Writing on microblogging site Twitter on Monday, the Deputy Information Minister said:
<blockquote>MDC-A defeat in Lupane and other by-elections tellingly means His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa will lead ZANU PF to another romping victory in 2023, and Chisa mwana Chisa will still say elections have been stolen.</blockquote>
The MDC Alliance lost in all the three by-elections held on Saturday in Matabeleland North Province. The MDC and secessionist party, Mthwakazi Republic Party have both cited the issue of finances and vote-buying by ZANU PF as their Achilles heel.

2023: ZANU PF Win In By-elections Shows ED Will Beat Chamisa Easily - Mutodi

The government of Zimbabwe has expressed its sadness over the untimely death of MDC legislator and daughter to the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the Deputy Minister for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi said:
<blockquote>The government is saddened by the untimely death of Hon Vimbai Tsvangirai.
We do hereby express our heartfelt condolences to the Tsvangirai and Java families as well as the MDC party.
The government stands ready to assist the bereaved in whatever means possible.</blockquote>
Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java died on Monday afternoon from injuries she sustained in a car crash in Kwekwe last month.

Govt Of Zimbabwe Mourns Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java

ZANU PF MP for Goromonzi West and a perceived close ally of President Mnangagwa said that it is not proper to compare ZANU PF and MDC scenarios when it comes to how they handled succession.
Energy Mutodi told the Newsday that it is wrong to liken MDC leader Nelson Chamisa’s ascendancy to that of President Emmerson Mnangagwa who came to power on the back of a military coup in 2017.
While Chamisa was chosen by the party’s National Council in 2018 after the death of Morgan Tsvangirai, Mnangagwa took over the reins in ZANU PF after Mugabe resigned under duress.
Ironically, the High Court ruled that “Operation Restore Legacy” (a euphemism for the coup) was legitimate while ruling that Chamisa is illegitimate.
Mutodi claimed that the process to remove Mugabe was not a ZANU PF process. He said:
<blockquote>That was not a Zanu PF process; that was certainly not Zanu PF. Zanu PF had to come in after the (former) President had been earmarked for removal by the military.
There was military intervention, there was no way Zanu PF could have intervened in that and there was no way Zanu PF could remain without a leader because Mugabe had been removed by the military.</blockquote>
Mutodi went on further to legitimise Mugabe’s removal, saying that the central committee chose Mnangagwa to fill a power vacuum that had been left after former’s demise. He added:
<blockquote>For Zanu PF, I can assure you that this is not the same issue because there were intervening issues. First of all, the President of the Republic, then Robert Mugabe was facing impeachment for allegations for having given his wife certain executive powers and Parliament taking measures to impeach him.
The military had intervened in the process of government on a very clear issue that the status quo had broken down so that is why the central committee had to sit in a formally-constituted meeting to determine who would be elected as the leader or interim leader of Zanu PF and then substantive leader.
That is how Mnangagwa’s name emerged. So this cannot be the same or some kind of replication or similarity of what is happening in the MDC.</blockquote>

Deputy Minister for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi, said that MDC president Nelson Chamisa has to step down in line with a recent High Court ruling.
In an interview, with Newsday senior reporter Blessed Mhlanga, Mutodi said that the opposition party should exercise democracy. Said Mutodi:
<blockquote>Chamisa has been ruled illegitimate and we are saying he must step down.
What we are saying is, the opposition may be there, but it has to stick to its democratic principles, it has to stick to the expectations of Zimbabweans so that it can contribute meaningfully to the success of Zimbabwe.
As it stands, the MDC has actually deviated from its democratic principles and we urge it to actually go back to the principles that were left behind by Morgan Tsvangirai.
… As a government, we know the importance of the opposition. The opposition is very important in shaping legislation, in ensuring that the country can be recognised as a democratic State.
It actually points to cases that we may have an oversight, issues that we may not be considered as very important, the opposition can talk about those issues and we take them seriously and build our democracy.</blockquote>

Goromonzi West Member of Parliament, Energy Mutodi (ZANU PF), said that MDC president Nelson Chamisa should “simply” resign after the High Court ruled that his presidency is null and void as he rose to power in contravention of the party’s constitution.
Mutodi, who is also Deputy Minister for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, <a href="https://twitter.com/energymutodi/status/1126486048601726976" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">said:</a>
<blockquote>After being declared an illegitimate president of the MDC and a usurper of power in an opposition party that purports to stand for democracy, the honourable thing to do for Nelson Chamisa is simply to resign. No court on earth can endorse illegality, even a court of appeals.</blockquote>
Chamisa’s erstwhile colleague and leader of the MDC-T, Thokozani Khupe, has already “forgiven” him, and called upon party members not vilify the former Kuwadzana East legislator.
Meanwhile, the MDC Alliance has vowed to appeal the ruling while at the same time going ahead with the elective Congress set for May 24-26.

'Chamisa Should Simply Resign'

Deputy Minister of Information has addressed villagers in Domboshava after the crumbling of plans by a Chinese company to evict them. Mutodi in the video blames Chief Chinamora for not protecting 20 000 villagers. He also said that president Mnangagwa was against the idea of evicting villagers for the purposes of mining quarry. Mutodi also said he warned the Chinese company against evicting residents. Earlier, Mutodi implicated an MDC Councillor and District Administrator in the illegal selling of the mountain to the Chinese company. The MDC, however, dismissed the allegations.

The deputy Minister of Information, Energy Mutodi has threatened to invite MTN, South African Telecommunications giant, following an increase in the prices of data bouquets by Econet Wireless recently.
Posting via his Twitter account, Mutodi said:

This post attracted a chain of responses from users who felt that Mutodi was misinformed on the issue. One user, @nangatidza responded:

Mutodi responded saying that Netone had fewer customers and its bundles have very low demand. He also said that he was expecting Econet to capitalise on the economies of scale and charge less for bundles at the same time targeting volumes which they already have. He said:

President Mnangagwa has ordered a Chinese company to stop its planned quarry mining activities in Domboshava which would have resulted in the eviction  of 20 000 villagers.
The order comes after the Chinese company had already ordered villagers to vacate the area to create space for the project.
Energy Mutodi, Information deputy minister and local MP, confirmed the development yesterday. He said that president Mnangagwa indicated that the area was not open for mining since it is a tourism resort. Mutodi said:
<blockquote>President Emmerson Mnangagwa has come to the rescue of Domboshava villagers, who were facing eviction by a Chinese quarry mining firm, Aihua Jianye. The President has ordered that the firm stops mining activities in the area known for its rock art and as a tourist attraction.</blockquote>

Mutodi recently accused an MDC councillor Tapiwa Murima and district administrator, Priscah Dube of illegally allowing the Chinese firm to mine at Garimo Hill. The MDC has however since refuted the allegations.
