Komichi was speaking at the virtual memorial service hosted in memory of Morgan Tsvangirai when he described him as a liberator and a unifier who had to accept a junior position in the GNU just for the country to move forward.
The MDC T has however not participated in any elections since 2013. The MDC Alliance participated in the 2018 elections and narrowly lost to President Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF.

WATCH: Everything That Belonged To Tsvangirai Is Ours, Chamisa Has Nothing - Komichi

Fourteen MDC Alliance activists appeared before the High Court two groups facing public violence charges after they allegedly stormed Harvest House, destroying windows and cutting padlocks with bolt cutters last week.
The accused are Victor Machavhaira (37), Shame Chidzonga (34), Mafaiti Mubaiwa (32), Angirai Mowotidhi (42), Forward Sezali (40), Paul Gorekore (37), Peter Shonhiwa (35), Godfrey Katsaya (24), Lloyd Zhou (36), Richard Dube (21), Onisimo Chaitezvi (30), Sign Chanachimweza (29) and Washington Dzungwa (37).
The court heard that the accused teamed up within the Harare Central  Business District (CBD) on October 29 at around 10 am, walked towards Harvest House and while on the way, they allegedly disturbed the peace and order in the CBD.
The state further alleges that the accused also assaulted members of the public before destroying Harvest House’s front window panes using stones before cutting the key locks on the screen gate using bolt cutters.
The police arrested Machavhaira, Chidzonga, Mubaiwa, Mowotidhi and Sezali while others escaped.
It is also alleged that on the same day at around 11 pm, Gorekore, Shonhiwa, Katsaya, Zhou, Dube, Chaitezvi, Chanachimweza, Dzungwa returned to Harvest house leading to their arrest.
They were all released on ZWL$1 500 bail each after their lawyer Mr Moses Mavhaire successfully applied for bail.
As part of their bail condition, the accused were ordered to report once a week to the police and not to interfere with witnesses.
This comes as MDC factions – MDC-T and MDC Alliance, in that order, led by Thokozani Khupe and Nelson Chamisa have been fighting for control over the Harvest House christened Morgan Tsvangirai House.

MDC Alliance Activists In Court Over Attack On Harvest House

The interim leader of the opposition MDC-T, Thokozani Khupe has ordered the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa to vacate Bulawayo offices not later than Monday.
This was confirmed by MDC Alliance Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Swethern Chirowodza who said MDC-T Bulawayo provincial secretary, Nomvula Mguni Friday visited the party offices along Fort Street and ordered MDC Alliance workers to vacate the premises.
Speaking to New Zimbabwe, Chirowodza said his party will resist any move to take the property from the Alliance. He said:
<blockquote>It is true that Mguni visited our party offices on Friday and instructed our people to vacate the premises by Monday.
Mguni said Sidumiso Moyo who was the administrator in 2014 will now be in charge of office.
However, we find this order odd because we are legally occupying these offices after we got a court order when the Khupe thugs tried to forcibly take the property from us.</blockquote>
The development comes when tensions between the two MDC outfits are already high over MDC Alliance’s seizure of Harvest House from Khupe’s outfit and MDC-T’s recalling of legislators and local government officials who backed Nelson Chamisa.
This also comes amid reports that the national councils of both sides have been holding private meetings to pave way for talks between Khupe and Chamisa.

Khupe Gives MDC Alliance Ultimatum To Vacate Office

The Secretary-General of the opposition MDC-T, Douglas Mwonzora is reportedly threatening party youths who played a part in the transferral of Harvest House to MDC Alliance recently.
Zim Morning Post reports that Mwonzora is allegedly threatening them with expulsions and recalls from their elected positions.
The publication quotes an anonymous MDC-T party insider as saying:
<blockquote>When we joined Mwonzora, we thought it was important to get back to the party constitution and unite ahead of the 2023 elections.
But now that we want to implement the party constitution, Mwonzora wants to have us fired from the party.</blockquote>
Zim Morning Post further reports that among the youths who are being threatened with recalls and expulsions are Batanai Masunda (the Epworth Local Board chairperson) and Harare province youths assembly secretary and youth chairperson, Paul Gorekore.
Masunda is one of the councillors who defected from MDC Alliance in March following the Supreme Court judgment in March which ordered the party to revert to its 2014 structures.
The youths claim they took over the MRT House to preserve its unity and strength against Zanu PF adding that some party bigwigs were already in support of the move.
They told Zim Morning Post that Abednego Bhebhe and Morgan Komichi have since shown support while Chamisa, Mwonzora and Khupe remain a major obstacle to the reunification of the party.

Mwonzora Threatens Defiant MDC-T Youths - Report

According to The Herald, some MDC Alliance Youths were in court on Saturday for public violence after the reportedly took place in the Harvest House takeover that headlined last week.
The state is alleging that the gang on Friday last week stormed Harvest House reportedly accompanied by some party executive members and harassed MDC T workers.
According to the MDC T’s Farai Nyandoro:
<blockquote>These youths from MDC-A came here to disturb our peace by trying to evict our party officials manning the offices, but we resisted. Instead, they were arrested for violence.
The rowdy MDC-A members were back again at the offices on their way from court and again forcibly entered the offices in clear provocation to the MDC-T officials who, however, remained calm.</blockquote>
The gang reportedly appeared before Harare Magistrate Ms. Sharon Mashavire remanded them out of custody to October 15 on $500 bail each.

MDC Alliance Youths In Court For "Trying To Take Over Harvest House"

Harvest House, which in 2018 was renamed Morgan Tsvangirai House yesterday received a bomb scare as unidentified men reportedly threw “bottles that looked like petrol bombs” at the building’s entrance, New Zimbabwe reports.
According to the publication, ZRP officers were conducting a forensic investigation at the MDC T headquarters yesterday as bottle pieces and threads of wool were seen at the Harvest House entrance.
The MDC T ICT Womberaishe Nhende shed more light on the incident as he spoke to the publication and said:
<blockquote>Around 2 am today (Thursday) a couple of people passed through our party building and threw two bottles that spilled petrol at the entrance.
Youths who were manning the entrance from inside had to retreat further inside as they feared for their lives. They didn’t know what was going on until this morning. We discovered that there are pieces of bottles that appear like petrol bombs. The luck part of it is that they did not explode.
The police came to our building in the morning to investigate. They also took a statement from our chairperson Paul Gorekore.</blockquote>

FULL TEXT: MDC-T Statement On Court Ruling Over Harvest House Seizure

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the heavy deployment of anti-riot police in the vicinity of the MDC headquarters, the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (MRT) House, in Harare on Monday was meant to ensure peace prevails.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they had to deploy forces after getting information that there were machinations to cause violence by one of the MDC factions. <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/just-in-mdc-a-in-kidnapping-storm/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Said Nyathi:</a>
<blockquote>The ZRP maintained law and order in Harare CBD today after reports of purported violence at Harvest House had been reported. Basically, Police were ensuring that peace prevails in the CBD.</blockquote>
The MDC-T youth assembly led by Paul Gorekore seized the building and demanded that party leaders who were elected into positions in 2014 resolve their differences and comply with the March Supreme Court ruling.
Gorekore called for all future meetings of the National Council and National Executive to meet at MRT House and accused the Thokozani Khupe-led faction of working with ZANU PF to weaken the party.

Police Justify Heavy Presence At MRT House

We the young people of the Movement for Democratic Change (Harare province) united together to finish the people’s democratic revolution.
As the first line of defence of the party, the vanguards of democracy and the custodians of the party and its future, we have assumed all security duties of the Party HQ MRT House.
This was necessitated by our realisation on the need to unite the people in the fight for a better Zimbabwe and defend the civilian space in the face of military state capture.
We as the youths of the party as per 2014 structures, we have decided to go beyond our differences and unite to resolve the current crisis.
We have been concerned by the recent developments where the party had been infiltrated and captured by ZANU-PF elements battling to destroy the People’s movement thereby aiding the suffering of the masses.
This act of bravery was necessitated by the need to protect our beloved movement and the Zimbabwean people’s fight for better lives.
As young people, we will remain guided by the organs of the party, in particular, the National Council as we re-establish the will of MDC leaders, members, supporters and Zimbabweans at large.
We have noted the attempt to surrender the Democratic project into the hands of the enemy.
Individuals have been making unconstitutional and illegal decisions without the mandate of the Zimbabwean voters, party organs from branches, wards, districts, provinces, the National Executive and National Council organs which have not met since the Supreme Court judgment.
The party has been infiltrated by sellouts with an agenda to derail our freedom.
It, therefore, follows that we act to unite our leadership, our support base and Zimbabweans at large and ensure the Vision of Dr Morgan Tsvangirai lives on across generations.
In this Democratic revolutionary spirit, we appeal to the National Youth Council and the National Women Council to converge respectively ahead of the main national executive and national council meetings at Harvest House.
We furthermore urge the Zimbabwe Republic Police to desist from interfering in MDC internal political affairs and immediately vacate our headquarters.
We also urge all youths to maintain discipline and peace as we await the party national executive and national council meeting to map the political way forward.
This is not a one-generation move movement. We will define, defend and secure our future.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on Monday morning deployed officers outside the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House, formerly Harvest House in central Harare.
This comes after youths linked to the MDC Alliance (MDC-A) led by Nelson Chamisa <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/09/28/mdc-t-youths-hand-over-harvest-house-to-mdc-alliance/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">reoccupied the building</a> following its seizure by the MDC-T three months ago.
According to ZimLive.com, two MDC-A youths were arrested at the offices on Monday. The publication posted on Twitter:
<blockquote>Police steadily building up outside MDC HQ in Harare which was reoccupied by MDC Alliance youths last night with help of youths loyal to Thokozani Khupe’s MDC-T who grabbed the property in June assisted by security forces. 2 MDC Alliance youths arrested so far.</blockquote>
Human rights defender Pedzisai Ruhanya also confirmed the heavy presence of police officers in the vicinity of the MDC headquarters. He posted on Twitter on Monday:
<blockquote>As predicted, Zanu PF through police arrived at Harvest House at 3 am and parked meters away from the building after it was taken by party youths from Khupe and Mwonzora. You know what will happen next; rescuing their puppets. Watch court role too!
A truckload full of riot police now parked at Harvest House ready to rescue Mwonzora in clear relationship between MDC-T and Zanu PF. Youths who took over the building remain locked inside demanding immediate calling of the national executive, national council and congress.
MDC-T youths accuse Khupe and team of even refusing to implement the flawed Supreme Court ruling by refusing to call national executive and national council including extraordinary congress to resolve the problem. They demand the immediate holding of legitimate 2014 party organs.</blockquote>
MDC-T (2014 structures) youths reportedly worked together with MDC-A youths in the takeover of the building on Sunday night. They accused MDC-T interim leader Thokozani Khupe of working with ZANU PF.

Police Deployed Outside Harvest House

60 youths linked to the Nelson Chamisa MDC Alliance (MDC-A) occupied the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House, formerly Harvest House, on Sunday night with the help of some MDC-T youths.
The building was seized by the Supreme Court-reconstructed MDC-T four months ago with the help of soldiers.
The MDC-A youths told ZimLive by phone that they had resolved their differences with a section of the youth leadership loyal to MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe.
Paul Gorekore, the MDC-T’s current youth chairman for Harare province, is believed to have facilitated the latest occupation of the building, accusing MDC-T interim leader Thokozani Khupe of aiding the suffering of the masses by collaborating with the ruling ZANU PF. In a brief statement, Gorekore said:
<blockquote>MDC-T Harare province (2014 structures) has taken over control of the party HQ tonight. This has been necessitated by our realisation of the need to unite the people in the fight for a better Zimbabwe.
We as the youths have decided to go beyond our differences and unite to resolve the current crisis.
We have been concerned by recent developments where the party (MDC-T) has been infiltrated by some ZANU PF elements battling to destroy the people’s movement thereby aiding the suffering of the masses.</blockquote>

MDC-T Youths Hand Over Harvest House To MDC Alliance

Court resurrected MDC T 2014 structures Vice-Chairman Morgen Komichi has said the MDC T has taken over the MDC Alliance offices in most parts of the country and they are busy auditing the assets they repossessed and they will take appropriate action when the time is right, The Herald reports.
Speaking to the state media, Komichi said they were now in the process of repossessing offices in some parts of Mashonaland and Manicaland:
<blockquote>We managed to repossess most of our offices. We started with the occupation of the party headquarters Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House, which is the flagship of the party.
After the headquarters we went on to occupy Bulawayo, Masvingo, Hwange, in Matabeleland North, Gwanda in Matabeleland South, Marondera, Mashonaland East, Gweru in Midlands province offices.
We are now in the process of occupying Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West and Manicaland provinces. So far, we have managed to secure some of our vehicles, but I do not have the numbers off-head</blockquote>
Komichi also said they are auditing the party’s assets and appropriate action will be taken in due course should the audit uncover any anomalies:
<blockquote>We are currently carrying out an audit of party assets such as vehicles, furniture, books of accounts and party offices in all the provinces and appropriate action will be taken at the appropriate time. The legitimate leadership of the MDC party has finally occupied their offices.</blockquote>
Apart from repossessing offices the MDC T has been recalling MDC Alliance legislators and has recalled 21 legislators so far.

This comes after High Court judge David Mangota dismissed two applications filed by the party following a June 4 hostile takeover of the property by the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe.
The MDC Alliance has filed a notice of appeal through Mbidzo Muchadehama and Makoni Legal Practitioners, arguing that Mangota grossly erred in failing to grant a spoilation order after it had met the requirements. The application read:
<blockquote>The court a quo seriously misdirected itself on the facts, which misdirection amounts to a mistake of law when it found that the MDC-T was one and the same thing as the MDC and that the headquarters of the MDC-T were MRT House when there was no evidence to support that conclusion.
The court a quo seriously erred and misdirected itself in holding that the mere fact that the MDC-T stated that its headquarters were MRT House meant that the owners of the property had confirmed the right of occupation to the MDC-T, which finding was contrary to the unequivocal position of the owners that it had granted the right of occupation to the MDC Alliance.</blockquote>
The MDC Alliance had filed two High Court applications for a spoilation order seeking to have occupation by MDC-T declared unlawful and for an interdict barring them from using the facility, but both cases were dismissed with costs.

MDC-A Appeals Harvest House Court Ruling

MDC T leader Thokozani Khupe has claimed that the army and the police did not take part in the handover of Harvest House which had been previously occupied by MDC Alliance, The Sunday Mail reports.
Khupe was writing to the US Embassy which on the day in question tweeted and said:
<blockquote>We are dismayed by the politicised use of security forces to take over the headquarters of an opposition party and arrest its members. A healthy democracy requires healthy opposition parties. #PoliticalArrests #AHouseStolen</blockquote>
In her letter dated 1 July 2020 addressed to the Embassy Khupe said the army and the police did not take part in the takeover:
<blockquote>Our team of the security officers who took over Morgan Richard Tsvangirayi House (MRT formerly Harvest House) were only three in number.
For the avoidance of doubt, the army and the police did not take part in the handover of the headquarters as alleged.</blockquote>
In the letter Khupe also said the US Embassy tweeted without verifying its information about her party taking over the building:
<blockquote>Faced with a possibility of violence that would erupt as a result and in a bid to prevent any injury or possible death from occurring, we rushed to the Magistrates Court and obtained an interdict against these people.
The interdict ordered the officials of the MDC Alliance to stop trying to take possession of MRT House without a valid court order. It also specifically directed the police to maintain law and order at and around MRT House. The police were ordered to ensure that the Magistrates Court order was enforced.
Apparently, based on the misinformation, the US Embassy issued a statement to the effect that our legal repossession of our premises included the involvement of the military and police….It is unfortunate that the US embassy issued statements before verifying the facts.</blockquote>
MDC T and MDC Alliance are locked in a leadership wrangle that has seen the former taking over the latter’s party headquarters and claiming all the MPs under the MDC Alliance are now under the MDC T.

The Army & The Police Did Not Take Part In The Handover Of The Headquarters - Khupe To The US Embassy

High Court judge Justice David Mangota has dismissed the MDC Alliance’s two application to recover possession of Harvest House, also known as Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House.
MDC-T youths seized Harvest House several weeks ago in the dead of the night with the help of the military and police.
The building has been the opposition party’s headquarters since its formation in 1999 and was under the MDC Alliance’s control since 2018.
In dismissing the MDC-A application, Justice Mangota said that Chamisa’s party failed to prove the use of police and military in the takeover. Part of the ruling read:
<blockquote>I have considered all the circumstances of HC2811/20 and HC 2814/20.
I am satisfied that the applicants in each case failed to prove their applications on a balance of probabilities.
In the result, it is ordered that: HC2811/20 be and is hereby dismissed.</blockquote>

High Court Dismisses MDC-A Application To Recover Harvest House

MDC Alliance (MDCA) leader Nelson Chamisa said that his party has a valid lease agreement with the owners of Morgan Richard House, also known as Harvest House and is waiting for the finalisation of the court process in a dispute with the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe.
The MDC-T seized the offices from MDCA with the help of the army a few weeks ago and has since been using the building as its headquarters.
Speaking on Wednesday at the home of the late Chitungwiza footballer Tinashe Choto, killed in cold blood by police during the violent January 2019 protests against fuel increases, Chamisa said:
<blockquote>Why should we have our soldiers and police being abused, and be involved in MDC party political issues that have to do with the control of Harvest House?
It’s just that I don’t want to go to Harvest House. If I want to, do you think there is anyone who can stop me from entering the building? I can walk into the building during daylight.
However, because I am not a violent person and MDC Alliance is not a violent party, we are respecting the rule of law, so we are waiting for the court process, but we will not accept to be chased away from our base by visitors.</blockquote>
MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora recently told reporters that his party is a force to be reckoned with after it seized Harvest House, something the MDC Alliance had vowed will never happen.

The Directors of the Harvest House Pvt Ltd have said their tenant and rightful occupant of the premises that was christened Morgan Tsvangirai House is the opposition MDC Alliance.
This comes when the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe has taken control of the building saying they are the rightful occupants.
Timothy James Neill and Ian Mutero Makone the directors said non of the MDC formations owns the building as they were merely tenants.
Neill said:

Harvest House Owners Reveal Who Their Tenant Is Between MDC-A And MDC-T

Pedzisayi Ruhanya has posted the following pictures which according to him proves that Nelson Chamisa’s MDC Alliance is the rightful occupant of Harvest House.
This follows last week’s events that saw the Khupe led MDC T faction taking over Harvest House assisted by the army and the police.
The letters are supposedly from the 2 directors of the trust that owns/runs Harvest House and they have stated that MDC Alliance is the rightful occupants of the building and they are occupying the building with their blessing.

The Zimbabwe Defense Forces through its spokesperson Colonel Overson Mugwisi said it did not deploy soldiers to Harvest House last Friday to help the Khupe led faction take over the MDC Alliance headquarters. The Herald reports, Mugwisi went on to insinuate that the soldiers that were present as seen in videos that circulated on social media during the takeover were helping ZRP enforce lockdown restrictions.
Speaking to the publication, Mugwisi said:
<blockquote>Allegations by the private media that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), accompanied by some youths, seized Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House (MRT House), formerly Harvest House on 5 June 2020, are not true. The ZDF never deployed at MRT House. Current ZDF deployments are in support of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) operations of enforcing Covid-19 lockdown measures,
It is the work of political mischief makers to present online media footage of the ZRP in uniform conducting their duties as the ZDF. ZDF uniform is distinct. All the misinformation is trying to divert public attention from challenges facing their political parties. They should leave us out of their politics.</blockquote>

We Didnt Deploy Soldiers To Harvest House - ZDF

The United States of America’s Senate on Foreign Relations Committee has said the Zimbabwean government is not motivated to address the economic and humanitarian crisis in the country but rather is focused on silencing opposition political parties.
The committee was commenting on the use of soldiers and police on Thursday night in the takeover of Harvest House from the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa.
The building was handed to the Movement for Democratic Change Tsvangirai (MDC-T) led by reinstated leader Thokozani Khupe. Posting on Twitter, the committee said:

The police also arrested six MDC Alliance officials for criminal nuisance after they tried to regain entry into the building their party used as its headquarters.
The recent events attracted criticism from human rights defenders, legal experts and the international community.
Meanwhile, the MDC Alliance has vowed that it will take every possible action to repossess the building.

Zim Govt Is Focused On Crushing Political Opposition - US Senate

The Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) has expressed concern over the use of the armed forces to evict the MDC Alliance from its headquarters, the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (MRT) House on Thursday night.
In a statement on Saturday, LSZ Urged the country’s security forces to desist from involving themselves in civil disputes and to remember that no one is above the law. The statement read:
<blockquote>The Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) is following closely the unfolding events within the MDC party which is the official opposition in Parliament.
We are particularly concerned by reports that the army and the police were deployed to evict some members of the MDC party who were in occupation of the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House.
The role of the army is clearly articulated in Section 212 of the Constitution which provides that:
“The function of the Defence Forces is to protect Zimbabwe, its people, its national security and interests and its…territorial integrity and to uphold this Constitution.”
The rule of law is about equality, fairness and strict observance of due process. In this vein, we call upon the security forces to desist from wading into civil disputes and restrict themselves to their constitutional mandate.
It is apparent that the actions taken if reports are anything to go by were not backed by an order of the Court.
No person is above the law and nobody should be assisted in taking the law into their hands.</blockquote>

"No Person Is Above The Law", Law Society of Zimbabwe Issues Statement After Security Forces Seize MDC Offices

On Thursday night youths aligned with the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe seized the MDC Alliance’s headquarters with the military’s assistance.
The hostile takeover, which was effected in the dead of the night, came as a surprise since it was unprecedented for security forces to evict tenants from a private building.
Zimbabweans took to Twitter to express their views on the nocturnal takeover of the MDC Alliance’s offices.

Twimbos Respond To The Hostile Takeover Of MDC Alliance Offices

The trustees of Harvest House, the headquarters of the MDC Alliance, are reportedly approaching the courts seeking an eviction order to eject the Thokozani Khupe-led MDC-T after it seized the building on Thursday night with the help of the country’s security forces.
According to Zim Morning Post, the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance signed a 20-years lease with the trustees after the MDC-T lease expired in December 2019. The publication quotes its “impeccable” source as saying:
<blockquote>MDC Alliance signed a new lease in December 2019 and it runs for 20 years.
MDC-T had the lease which elapsed in December 2019 and then the MDC alliance took over.
As it stands the MDC-T are breaking the law by invading private spaces.</blockquote>
On Friday, the building was barricaded by police details clearly on instructions to stop MDC Alliance officials from accessing their headquarters, also known as Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House.
Several top MDC Alliance officials, among them party vice president Tendai Biti and deputy secretary-general David Chimhini, were arrested and bundled in a police truck when they visited the offices.

Harvest House Trustees Seek Khupe's Eviction - REPORT

Six MDC Alliance officials were on Friday afternoon arrested at the party’s headquarters, Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (MRT) House in central Harare after they asked for permission from police officers guarding the premises to gain access.
The six, deputy presidents Tendai Biti and Lynette Karenyi-Kore, deputy International Relations secretary Lovemore Chinoputsa, deputy secretary-general Chimhini, Gladys Hlatywayo and Vongai Tome, are members of the MDC Alliance Standing Committee.

The United States embassy in Harare has condemned the government of Zimbabwe’s use of the military to seize offices that were being used by the opposition MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa.
A group of youths aligned to Thokozani Khupe’s MDC and backed by members of the country’s armed forces on Thursday night seized Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (MRT) House, formerly Harvest House in central Harare.

United States Condemns Seizure Of MDC Alliance HQ By Soldiers & Police

The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly has vowed to stop a hostile takeover of the party’s Morgan Richard Tsvangirai headquarters in central Harare by the Thokozani Khupe-led MDC-T.
The party’s Youth Assembly national secretary-general Stephen Siziba told NewsDay that they would resist any attempts by MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora to seize the party’s offices. Siziba said:
<blockquote>There is an attempt by a hostile one to capture Harvest House (MRT), first to manufacture concerns in the court of public opinion by Douglas Mwonzora and to test the feelings of the people’s movement.
The attempt to take over Harvest House (MRT house) will be resisted. We want to make it very clear in no uncertain terms that Harvest House is our headquarters and we are to defend it with our blood.</blockquote>
On Monday Mwonzora claimed to have locked the offices and promised to reopen them after the 21-day lockdown.
However, it emerged on Tuesday that Mwonzora was not telling the truth as MDC Alliance Youth Assembly members were pictured right within the offices with the front doors of the building open.

MDC Alliance Youths Vow To Stop Hostile Takeover Of Party HQ

The MDC Alliance has dismissed media reports claiming that MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora has taken over the party’s headquarters, Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House.
Mwonzora told State media on Monday that he had locked the offices and will only open them after the 21-day lockdown period is over.
However, MDC Alliance Youth Assembly National Chairperson Tererai Obey Sithole said the report is fake news as the offices remain firmly under the party’s control. <a href="https://twitter.com/TereraiSithole/status/1247437323102490625" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Sithole said</a>:

Meanwhile, the MDC Alliance has issued a statement explaining its relationship with the MDC-T left behind by the late Morgan Tsvangirai. <a href="https://twitter.com/YourMDC/status/1247379147095236608" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The statement read</a>:
<blockquote>MDC Alliance Party was formed in 2018 following the collapse of initial agreement that MRT had signed with 7 other parties. The parties were supposed to use this symbol [consisting of all the logos of the 7 political parties] if the agreement had not collapsed.
Before the signed Alliance Agreement collapsed, the parties had agreed that each party in Parliament will appoint their own Chief Whip [Section 4.2.1.5]. Because the agreement collapsed and a new Party was formed today in Parliament, MDC Alliance has one Chief Whip.</blockquote>
