Musician Jah Prayzah said that the late national hero Oliver Mtukudzi inspired many artistes to pursue musical careers.
The multi-award-winning musician, whose real name is Mukudzeyi Mukombe, paid tribute to Zimbabwe’s heroes and heroines on Heroes Day in a message posted on the social media site Instagram on Monday. He wrote:

We honour their bravery, commitment and remember that our nation’s story was shaped by their unwavering dedication.

People like the late great Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi, whose music not only touched our hearts but inspired countless local artists to pursue their dreams.

Mtukudzi, popularly known as Tuku, died in 2019 aged 66 and was declared a national hero.
Tuku became the country’s first artiste to be declared a national hero.

In a Facebook post seen by Pindula News, Nash Paints CEO, Tinashe Mutarisi, has called on Zimbabweans to support both Jah Prayzah and Winky D as they make an impact on the global music scene. Mutarisi emphasized that the two artists represent Zimbabwe, and their success would benefit the entire country. He urged fans not to discredit one artist in favour of the other and to remember that they are in competition but also colleagues.
Mutarisi acknowledged the exceptional launch of Winky D’s album and Jah Prayzah’s remarkable evolution as an artist with numerous international awards. He suggested that if Jah Prayzah were to join the league of global stars such as Drake, Burna Boy, and Ed Sheeran, the world would begin to look for Zimbabwe’s Davidos in music, and the entire country would advance.

Nash Paints CEO Tinashe Mutarisi Urges Support For Jah Prayzah And Winky D

<a href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah">Jah Prayzah</a>, real name Mukudzeyi Mukombe, on Friday night, launched his 12th album, “‘Chiremerera” at the Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare.
The musician’s mother officially launched the album and was joined on stage by Jah Prayzah’s wife and uncle, who played a significant role in shaping his music career.
When he took to the stage, Jah Prayzah performed some of his most popular songs, including the title track, “Chiremerera”.
Feli Nandi and Baba Harare also graced the stage to keep the crowd dancing and cheering throughout the night.
After launching “Chiremerera” which mean “Respectability” on Friday, the tall and lanky musician will this Saturday launch his 13th album, “Maita Baba”  which mean “Thank You Father” at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
The launch of the two albums was preceeded by the release of a single titled Sarungano featuring <a href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Feli_Nandi">Feli Nandi</a> (Felistas Chipendo) and accompanied by a video.
Jah Prayzah’s double album launch is a feat only achieved by the late Leonard Dembo, not only once, but twice, locally.
In 1987 Dembo released Sharai and Kuziya Mbuya Huudzwa albums and then in 1994 he gave the world two master pieces of albums – Paw Paw and Nzungu Ndamenya.

Jah Prayzah Launches "Chiremerera", His First Of Two Albums

<a href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah">Jah Prayzah</a>, real name Mukudzeyi Mukombe, on Monday, released a single accompanied by a video featuring <a href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Feli_Nandi">Feli Nandi</a> (Felistas Chipendo) titled Sarungano.
The song depicts the era of slavery when a young black man who was madly in love, was forcibly separated from his lover, leaving him brokenhearted.
The video of the song, which was produced by DJ Tamuka &amp; Rodney Beatz, had more than 250 000 views and nearly 2 900 comments 23 hours after it was uploaded on YouTube.
The video was well-received by music lovers based on comments that were made by the musician’s fans. Below are some of the comments:

"Enough Respect," Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi Collabo Excites Fans

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Baba_Harare">Baba Harare</a>‘s show that was scheduled for Chitungwiza has been cancelled due to the police’s failure or refusal to clear it, the Zimbabwean <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jiti" title="Jiti">jiti</a> musician announced.
Baba Harare, who used to play the lead guitar for <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah" title="Jah Prayzah">Jah Prayzah</a> before he launched a solo career, posted on social media expressing his disappointment:

Jamaican reggae band Morgan Heritage has collaborated with <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah">Jah Prayzah</a> on a single which is set to be released soon.
Morgan Heritage, currently composed of a trinity of Peetah, Gramps, and Mojo, all children of the late reggae great Ras Denroy Morgan, hinted at the collaboration during an interview on a local podcast hosted by German-based arts entrepreneur Plot Mhako. Said Morgan Heritage:

Morgan Heritage, Jah Prayzah Single To Be Released Soon

Musician Peace Ndlovu, better known in the entertainment circles as <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ba_Shupi">Ba Shupi, </a>has revealed that multi <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah">Jah_Prayzah</a> used to curtain raise for his shows before the two got famous.
Baba Shupi, who rose to fame through ‘Godo’, a collaboration he did with <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Stunner">Stunner</a> in 2011, narrated his musical journey in in an <a href="https://youtu.be/c6I_XZEYQOs">interview with online channel K5TV.</a>
He said:

The name Baba Shupi came when I was still doing music and dance. Buffalo Souljah, an award-winning Zimbabwean dancehall musician based in South Africa, has claimed that he is the richest Zimbabwean artist.

His remarks come days after flamboyant Zimbabwean preacher, Passion Java claimed that Jah Prayzah was richer than Winky D.
Java said the capital or investment made into the music projects of the artists bears testimony.
Buffalo Souljah started writing music young, composing “Zuva Randisingakanganwe” (“The day I will never forget”) his first song at eight years. 
Some believe Passion Java, who recently released his own album, and Mudiwa Hood could be richer than Buffalo Souljah.

Zimbabwean contemporary musician, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah">Jah Prayzah</a> real name <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah">Mukudzei Mukombe</a> has said he did not perform in Gweru Friday 30 September 2022 as scheduled due to some logistical issues. The Mudhara Achauya hitmaker said the promoter of the event failed to meet the specifics agreed upon something that would have compromised the quality of the output. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Jah Prayzah said:

Last night 3G The Band failed to perform for all the music lovers in Gweru due to most unfortunate circumstances which I shall now elucidate.
Upon engagement with the promoter, the JP management team and organisers agreed on specifics that would make us deliver the best set for our fans. There is a standard for a JP performance set and sadly that standard was not met as agreed upon.
Unfortunately, to begin with, the PA system was way out of the spec range we agreed to and the music lovers had a difficult time with the audibility of the Artists who were performing on stage. The set that was availed was suited for DJ slots and Artists who use Backtracks for their performances and does not require much in terms of the equipment. The performance of a band as large as ours with such equipment was not possible. The performance would have been a terrible experience for our fans and would definitely affect the brand they have grown to love over the years. Any efforts to fix the PA system before we performed (due to changed times) would have exposed the band members to missiles, therefore, risking their safety. Despite Management’s efforts well ahead of time, the organizers failed to rectify the issue.
Secondly, the performance date we engaged on and agreed to was supposed to have been Friday the 30th of September. The promoter kept pushing our performance time into the early hours of Saturday the 1st of October and this agitated the crowd.
To my fans who braced the night and sacrificed time and money to see us do what we do best, we shall continue to push event organizers to deliver as per agreements and value the time and money that fans put in to support our industry.

Jah Prayzah Speaks On Why He Did Not Perform In Gweru

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah">Jah Prayzah</a>’s set at the Purple Festival at Belgravia Sports Club in Harare at the weekend was marred by chaotic scenes with some members of the public throwing empty bottles on the stage.
The festival was part of Booties, a local pharmacy’s 12th-anniversary celebrations.
Jah Prayzah and his band were forced to seek cover after performing just two songs as the crowd enraged by the security details who unleashed dogs on revellers while trying to maintain order, started throwing missiles.
The security was trying to stop people from breaking the bar that separated the stage from the crowd, according to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/life-amp-style/article/200000702/ugly-scenes-mar-jah-prayzahs-set-at-purple-fest">NewsDay Zimbabwe</a>.
Jah Prayzah only returned to the stage when things had settled. 
As he got back to the stage, the crowd went crazy for him as evidenced by the pushing and shoving as many wanted to be closer to the stage to be able to have a good glance at the multi-award-winning singer.
Despite the skirmishes, Jah Prayzah went on to put up a pure performance as the closing act where fellow artistes across genres had already electrified the mood.
Also, part of the performers were dancehall chanters Freeman, Killer, Enzo Ishall and Nutty O, Feli Nandi and hip-hop rapper Takura.
Booties Pharmacy brand manager Valentine Zhou admitted that they faced a lot of challenges in coming up with such a festival, adding that they still had a lot to learn.

Jah Prayzah’s Set At The Purple Festival Marred By Chaotic Scenes

A 25-year-old Charlotte Muziri from Masvingo has been declared the winner of the inaugural Miss Zimbabwe Queen 2022 shrugging off a challenge from 11 other girls.
The event which is the brainchild of former Miss Zimbabwe Tendai Bongani Hunda and fellow beauty queen Hilda Mabu was held at Harare International Conference Centre on Saturday.
For being crowned the Queen, Muziri’s winning package included a vehicle (Volkswagen Polo), a make-up kit and a Cape Town holiday ticket, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/life-amp-style/article/200000378/masvingo-model-crowned-miss-zim-queen">NewsDay Zimbabwe</a> reports.
Twenty-six-year-old Gina Mutemeri from Harare and Bulawayo’s Stacy Hassam (27) were crowned the first and second princesses, respectively.
The three queens satisfied the judges’ panel that comprised Miss Zimbabwe (1980) Shirley Munyanyiwa Chingoka, former Miss Universe Zimbabwe (1996) Langa Sibanda, Miss Zimbabwe 2007, Caroline Marufu, former Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Lisa Morgan.
Also, part of the judges was reigning Miss World Zimbabwe Belinda Potts, former Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Samantha Tshuma while Zari Hassan was the guest judge.

Another prominent social media personality, LynneM claimed she had found the reason for Mliswa’s sudden accusation:

Other social media users commented that Mliswa had no moral standing to advise others given that he is himself not married and has not shied away from stating that he has <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/father-of-19-temba-mliswa-says-he-prefers-single-mothers/">19 children with various women</a>.
Mliswa however posted another thread advising people not close to the details to not comment:

West Property Company has dismissed reports that suggest that musician Jah Prayzah and Star FM Disc Jockey Kudzai Violet Gwara better known as KVG had received stands or properties from the company on an outdated leasehold title.
In our previous article, we reported that one Dr Controlla Gabi had suggested that the company was selling its plushy Pokugara Estate houses using an outdated concept which is being phased out in the United Kingdom.

West Property Speaks On KVG, Jah Prayzah Fancy Homes

A red flag has been raised over the deals that got top musician Jah Prayzah, and Star FM Disc Jockey Kudzai Violet Gwara better known as KVG fancy homes in Borrowdale.
Jah Prayzah and KVG were recently pictured at red carpet ceremonies being handed over keys to their newly acquired properties at Pokugara Estate in the leafy suburb of Borrowdale in Harare.
However, one Dr Controlla Gabi, questions the type of lease agreements being offered by the Kenneth Raydon Sharpe owned company Pokugara Properties.
Dr Gabi is of the view that Pokugara Properties might be selling its plushy Pokugara Estate houses using an outdated concept which is being phased out in the United Kingdom.
Gabi said Pokugara Properties was using a “Leasehold” arrangement means that when one buys a property, ownership of the land remains in the hands of the seller and attracts monthly rentals.
Leasehold also has a tenure period and once it expires the ownership of the property reverts to the original owner.
In a five threaded Twitter response to West Properties post about KVG acquiring a new home at Pokugara Estate, Gabi said he was worried about the Pokugara Estate leasehold arrangement which he said was an eternal debt trap. He said:
<blockquote>Congratulations KVG. I hope they gave you a fair contract for the property. I have raised the issue of leaseholds @WestPropZim have introduced in Zim whereby the property buyer doesn’t own the land their property is on. Haven’t responded. Star FM hasn’t commented either.
It’s unclear how much legal protection buyers have against the legal jeopardy of leaseholds. You’d think developers would be transparent about this. It’s worrying that, with the brand ambassadorships being issued to celebrities, scrutiny disappears with conflict of interest.
Leaseholds are an eternal debt trap. Homeowners will continue to pay rent on the land their house is built on. It’s been a controversial scheme here in the UK.
With a leasehold, you’ll always pay rent on the land on which your home is built. There must be an option to buy the land or just rent to buy the land which shd give ownership of the land at some point. With no legal protection, land rent will go up or change hands. Uncertainty
Although unlikely, it is possible that, in a leasehold agreement, the price of the lease may end up being unaffordable. It’s unclear what will happen in such circumstances. Would you lose your property, for example? Star FM must facilitate this discussion on their programmes.</blockquote>

Jah Prayzah Releases Single Track Svovi (Video)

Gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere, born Darlington Mutseta, has been caught maligning Jah Prayzah alleging he uses black magic.
Leaked audios of the St John Apostolic Church of the Whole World pastor disparaging the ‘Kutonga Kwaro’ hitmaker have flooded social media platforms.
The audios were allegedly leaked by Mambo Dhuterere’s former manager, Marvelous Munemo after the two had a fallout over US$500.
Munemo, who managed Mambo Dhuterere in 2019, claimed that he took care of all of the musician’s music production and distribution costs before he rose to fame.
He said the two had agreed that Munemo would be later hired as the permanent manager when Mambo Dhuterere was firmly established in the industry.
Mambo Dhuterere later reneged on the promise, hiring a new manager and snubbing Munemo.
Munemo also claimed that Mambo Dhuterere was warned by his church elders against collaborating with Jah Prayzah who allegedly uses juju to boost his music career. Said Munemo:

In leaked audio, Mambo Dhuterere claimed Jah Prayzah was getting paid for only exclaiming ‘haah ’ in his tracks. He said:
Ita shamwari mari irikikuitwa nemrasta kaah yakandibata bata shamwari kungoimba kungoshama kuti haaaah zvinhu zvisina kana nebasa rese zvatinoita 24/7 torova pungwe tichiimba ku church mahara.
Tikanyatso mhanya chinhu ichi togona kutoita mari, unoziva kuti mface uya show yaarikunoita kuSouth Africa akabhadharwa R150 000 tikanyatso shanda togona kuto ita ma followers anenge aJah kana kuto darika nekuti isu tinotora vese veku mabhawa nekuma church.
Meanwhile, a few hours before the audio leaks, Mambo Dhuterere had lauded Jah Prayzah on Facebook, saying he had helped greatly when he was still a nobody. He wrote on 10 May:
The way yandaibatwa ne this guy ndisati ndava ne mbiri I haven’t yet meet any public figure ati andibata that way ndatova ne mbiri, even inini am failing kubata vanhu the way he did to me nomatter how I try… being new in industry Jah Prayzah na Mathias Mhere guided me at most. One day I will tell you all. 
Now kana ndavakuda kukura msoro I just think kumashure kuti kana Jah ne mbiri iya aindiitira izvi so what am I doing, but take note, ini wacho ndaiudzika cos ndaiteerera manje rimwe timu anotoita sekunge ndiye arikuda kukubatsira 😂.. Plot na Angie keep on helping we do appreciate.
Responding to the post by Mambo Dhuterere the following day, Jah Prayzah said he was at a loss for words. He commented:
Mambo Dhuterere ndapererwa nemashoko. Thank you my brother, when you lend a hand it’s best to do it without expecting a thank you in return but when you do get it, it’s more special than anything in the world. 
Kusvikawo pandiri ndakabatsirwa nevakawanda and I told myself I will do all I can to help others when I can. You have done many amazing works over the years and have built a solid brand for yourself.

Jah Prayzah Mourns His Uncle Tendai Savanhu

The Winky D and Jah Prayzah show that was previously <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/12/19/jah-prayzah-winky-d-concert-postponed/">postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions</a> will go virtual and no physical audience will attend the show, The Herald reports.
This was revealed by the event organizers Kayse Connect spokesperson Elton Kurima who said the show will be streamed on a pay per view basis:
<blockquote>We have held meetings with police and other relevant authorities who have granted us clearance to host the show, but as agreed it will only be held virtually with no attendees except for the technical team.
Nothing has changed, the PPV is US$2 and for those who had paid and were not reimbursed will still get the new link for viewing the show.
The show will be held under Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines. We will have the same masters of ceremony led by Star FM radio presenter Kudzai Violet Gwara (KVG).
We had planned to have about 100 people but due to the nature of the artistes, the fans were too demanding and it was difficult to control them, especially under such Covid-19 conditions. So we have resolved with the authorities to have the event virtually.</blockquote>
Kurima said about 70 people had paid to watch the show live and about 2000 had paid to watch the show through the Gateway Stream Music platform.
<blockquote>(Pay per view) PPV a fairly new concept in Zimbabwe which arrived on our doorsteps due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. It enables the artistes to get back to work as currently they cannot host live shows where fans physically attend.</blockquote>

Popular Musician Jah Prayzah (real name Mukudzeyi Mukombe) has revealed that he now has a trucking business branded MTM Capital Logistics. This was revealed in a tweet in which the muso remembered his childhood and said he used to push brick trucks at his home in Uzumba when he was still a kid.

Jah Prayzer remained quiet on the issue and some Twimbos said he chose to side with the oppressors.

Jah Prayzah says his 10-year-old son Mukudze Mukombe Junior has a deep-seated passion for music and has been begging him to assist him to play the keyboard.
Mukudzei Jr <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/08/19/watch-jah-prayzah-sons-debut-single-rovai-ngoma/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">released his single debut titled ‘Rovai Ngoma’ on Wednesday</a> and the video of the song has been a big hit with music enthusiasts.
Jah Prayzah revealed that the Coronavirus lockdown has also come as a blessing in disguise for him to usher his son into the studio.
Responding to critics and social media users that he was giving his son pressure to venture into music, the 33-year-old said:

In Junior’s case, I decided to unleash him now on Covid-19 lockdown because schools are closed and he can still do his music and school work at the same time since most of the school work is done online.

If I reflect on my career, there are something that are difficult to learn and master because I did not do them when I was young.
So in the case of Junior, I can suppress his passion or sit on his talent because you never know what will help him in future.</blockquote>

Jah Prayzah Gets A YouTube Silver Creator Award

Jah Prayzah has disbanded the Military Touch Movement (MTM) stable and cancelled all contracts. In a statement released this Sunday, the musician said it is now time to “let these superstars go out there to concur the world in music”.

<blockquote>When I started MTM, my dream was to have a movement that is driven solely by the ambition of the artists and producers involved in it. It has been 3 years since we began the journey and I can say it has been fruitful.

Today we celebrate superstars who have been housed in MTM and that was part of the mission, for us all to grow together and celebrate our achievements together.

I appreciate the trust that was given to me by these artists who are now brands and also for the privilege of working with legends like ExQ who have been in the game for so many years even before the start of my musical career. I have done my part in putting in the little resources I had at that time but do feel the artists have outgrown the label and though it is painful, I feel it is the right time to release them and also terminate all contracts that were in place.
What is important is the growth of talent as opposed to any return on money put in, again I repeat this was a movement put in place to encourage growth and not for profit.
Under the same light, I would like to categorically put it on record that until now and going forward, I do not have any amount of money that I collected from any of the artists who were involved in MTM.
I would, however, love to thank the producers, Tamuka and Rodney for the role they have played in helping me grow musically.
They have played a very significant role and my music would not be where it is today if not for them. I can never thank them enough or in any way that would really show how much I appreciate their efforts.
I would like to applaud Tamuka on the start of Mushroom Media, a dream he has always had and he also took time to brief me about the project. I am proud that under MTM he has achieved what he always dreamt and dared to achieve.
I did personally give him my blessing and would like to make it known out there too that I fully endorse the start and growth of his projects and cannot wait to release my first song recorded at Mushroom media.
Having been subjected to so much abuse at some points in this journey, I have become really sceptical about recruiting new artists under MTM as this in many occurrences has tainted my brand.
The main objective, however, was not to get praise from helping artists achieve their dreams. I have decided, I will proceed with finding other artists from the grassroots and will put in my effort to ensure they are talked about and their music grows.
For them, it will also come a time when they will also have to go out and spread their own wings and not under any umbrella.

The musician shared the news on his social media pages on Wednesday night through a hilarious video of him and his son conversing about going out to look for trotters.
According to the Chronicle, Jah Prayzah had three daughters with Rufaro and a son, Mukudzeyi Junior from his previous relationship.

A columnist writing for the Sunday Mail said we should stop embracing and celebrating mediocrity and songs and videos with suggestive lyrics and visuals. The Columnist singled out the work of Jah Prazah and Winky D and said the celebration was overrated because their recent work was not up there.
Opined the columnist:
<blockquote>But let me digress a bit — what is up with the dirty lyrics in today’s songs? That sex sells? Rubbish. “Sadza neMuriwo”, “Kanjiva”, “Ngoro”, “Unotsvireiko”, “Hakuna Mvana” — all these songs and many more — have suggestive lyrics, as well as quite graphic videos, which leaves me wondering if the likes of Leonard Dembo, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Marshall_Munhumumwe">Marshall Munhumumwe,</a> John Chibadura, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jonah_Moyo">Jonah Moyo</a>, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Biggie_Tembo">Biggie Tembo</a>, Andy Brown (the list is rather endless) would have been that big if they had sung such dirty lyrics…The fascination with vulgarity and sexual innuendos by our musicians has killed many good songs. In short, povo yaramba, haidi madhisinyongoro. No to dirty lyrics.
Anyway, back to the mediocrity, luckily for Winky D, his album was actually born, alive and well, but its health deteriorated almost immediately. Listeners could not find something to dance to, to play at their parties and DJs have no option but to look elsewhere as Winky D has flattered to deceive. While his touting partners point to one of the tracks doing well on some fringe station, the truth is that the album has failed to gain momentum locally. In fact, what is happening in local music right now is that there is a lot of celebrating junk. As long as one has a good budget, that is, deep pocketed backers and loud touts on Facebook and Twitter they are guaranteed fake success.
Take, for instance, Jah Prayzah’s latest single “Asante”. It clearly lacks sting. The artiste seems to be alive to this fact as he goes out of his way to appeal to the psych of his “social media militia” by portraying himself as a victim? Victim of what? He just needs to let good music speak to fans not to use emotional or psychological tact to maintain relevance.
The video of the song is on point but sadly not the same can be said about the Tamuka- produced beat. Tamuka’s beats have become monotonous, no wonder he wants to concentrate on doing jingles than actual music.</blockquote>

OPINION: This Celebration Of Mediocrity And Vulgarity In The Music Industry Has To Stop

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Parks_%26_Wildlife_Management_Authority">Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority</a> has appointed <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jah_Prayzah">Jah Prayzah</a>, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Selmor_Mtukudzi">Selmor</a> and NewsBae as the newest Wildlife ambassadors.
This was revealed by ZimParks Spokesperson Tinashe Farawo who said the initiative was supposed to make noise about the threat of loss of habitat for wild animals. Said Farawo:
<blockquote>The campaign will see the trio featuring on various platforms including television, radio and print media advocating for the conservation of Zimbabwe’s wildlife heritage and they will showcase Zimbabwe’s various national parks.
To kick off the Zimbabwe campaign, there will be the unveiling of the first billboard featuring Jah Prayzah tomorrow (today). The billboard will be situated along Borrowdale Road near Borrowdale Primary School.</blockquote>
