Norton legislator Temba Mliswa (Independent) has requested that the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage bring a ministerial statement explaining why former CID detective <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joseph_Nemaisa">Joseph Nemaisa</a> was fired.
Despite being fired from the police a few years ago, Nemaisa became famous last year after he single-handedly gunned down three heavily armed robbers who had held his family hostage.
Speaking during a question and answer session in Parliament a few weeks ago, Mliswa demanded an explanation from the government about why an expert in dealing with armed robbers was sacked. Said Mliswa:

We have got experts who are good at dealing with armed robbers. One of them is Nemaisa. 
Why can you not bring Nemaisa back to the police? Nemaisa was fired because of Delish Nguwaya. When he arrested Nguwaya at the time, Nemaisa was fired over a personal issue.
We would want to know why one of the best experts in dealing with homicide was fired. I would want you to give us a Ministerial Statement.
What wrong did Nemaisa do in terms of his conduct with the police? Not only that, but why was he fired?
If there was anything Madam Speaker, I think it was a personal issue where he arrested Nguwaya and he was then fired.
We now lost a top cop who was experienced in terms of homicide.
I know that this country has got some of the best homicide people but all of them have been purged because of personal differences and so forth.

Mliswa claimed that policing has sharply deteriorated since Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga took over from his self-exiled predecessor Augustine Chihuri. Said Mliswa:
<blockquote>
Right now, we are going through the worst policing ever in this country under Commissioner General Matanga.’
During the days of Augustine Chihuri, whether you like it or not, there was no such crime. 
Chihuri could have been anything but there was control in the police and there was discipline.
Whether it was corrupt or not, there was still discipline with the corruption in the police because he was in total control.
Right now, there is no total control of the police in this country. We need the Minister to come up with a Ministerial Statement in terms of the firearms database of this country.
It is very important. We need a database of the firearms in this country, those which are registered and those which are not and we are able to account. Without doing that we will have even our own kids having guns.
There needs to be an audit of the firearms in this country for those licensed and those not licensed for us to deal with these armed robberies.

In her response to the request, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Ruth Mavhunga-Maboyi promised to bring the statement to Parliament.
She, however, said she does not know who Nemaisa is or what he used to do.

Parliament Wants To Know Why Joseph Nemaisa Was Fired

Norton legislator (independent), Temba Mliswa has come to the defence of former CID and Homicide detective, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joseph_Nemaisa">Joseph Nemaisa</a>, who is being linked to a<a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/01/07/updated-cash-in-transit-robbers-get-away-with-usd2-5m/"> ZB Bank cash-in-transit heist</a> that happened in January.
Mliswa said those reports are fake and are aimed to tarnish the &#8220;intelligent security expert.&#8221;
<a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/12/08/watch-harare-lawyer-joseph-nemaisa-shot-dead-3-robbers-in-his-house/">Nemaisa recently shot dead three robbers</a> who had stormed his house to loot cash and property. 
Messages circulating on social media are, suddenly, incriminating Nemaisa in the theft of US$2.5 million and ZWL$40 000 cash-in-transit at Gwebi Bridge lay-bye on 6 January 2021. One of the messages on Twitter reads:
<blockquote>
Famous sudden Hero, ex CID &amp; homicide detective cum lawyer Joseph Nemaisa who gunned down 3 purported armed robbers in Hollywood movie style, is said to be prime suspect &amp; brains behind the famous ZB bank heist &amp; his act was an attempt to silence all witnesses &amp; fellow comrades.

But Mliswa dismissed the reports suggesting that the people who ejected him from the police force were behind the heist reports. He said:

A lot of conspiracies after the shooting by Nemaisa. However, those in the know will tell you he has that capacity. The guy is intelligent and was good at this job. He fought criminals and was only removed from the Police by his enemies there. They want to tarnish his name.
Otherwise, he is a great security expert, intelligent too, that&#8217;s why he is studying law now. The people he shot were robbers and it&#8217;s good riddance. Talk to convicts and you will hear all about his seriousness about the job. We know why he was removed from the police.
</blockquote>
The list of arrested people includes three ZB Bank security guards who were reportedly working in cahoots with the other suspects.
