Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi officially opened the 112th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS) in Harare on Friday.
In his address, Masisi hailed the collaboration and the bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and his country urging the people of the two countries to build long-lasting business networks. He said:
<blockquote>
It is exactly six months and eight days ago, in Victoria Falls here in Zimbabwe, our two countries solidified and formalised collaboration in the agricultural sector by signing an MoU in the area of Agricultural Development and Security.
</blockquote>
Notwithstanding, Botswana and Zimbabwe have long-lasting bonds of friendship and collaboration, dating back to time immemorial.
<blockquote>
Since the establishment of our diplomatic relations following the attainment of independence by Zimbabwe in 1980, we have seen our cooperation, at the bilateral, regional continental and, indeed, at the international level, grow in leaps and bounds, in a multitude of areas.
</blockquote>
Masisi urged participants at ZAS to take advantage of the show to build long-lasting business networks and to fully adopt identified trade and investment opportunities.
He also commended President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his efforts in fighting cattle rustling along the Zimbabwe -Botswana border.

Botswana President, Mokgweetsi Masisi, Officially Opens Agric Show

Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi and that country’s entire Parliament will be quarantined for 14 days after a health worker who screened the legislators for coronavirus on Wednesday this week tested positive after attending to them.
Health Minister Lemogang Kwape told parliamentarians on Thursday that the health worker had tested positive for COVID-19 overnight. Kwape said:
<blockquote>The health worker had not shown any symptoms but had just taken a routine test. Unfortunately, the result came late on Wednesday after she had already been on duty at the parliament session.</blockquote>
The Director of Public Health Malaki Tshipayagae instructed all Parliamentarians including president Masisi to quarantine either at home or be taken to facilities designated by the government.
Botswana now has 13 confirmed cases.

Botswana President And Entire Parliament Quarantined After Coronavirus Scare

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will this Thursday evening leave the country for Botswana where he is expected to attend the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of Mokgweetsi Masisi in Gaborone slated for Friday.
Masisi was declared President-elect after his party, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), won the general election held on October 23.
The elections were observed by the SADC Observer Mission led by Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Sibusiso Moyo which declared the elections free and fair.
Meanwhile, Mnangagwa is expected to officiate at the graduation ceremony at Great Zimbabwe University in Masvingo on Friday afternoon.

In a statement yesterday, Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo welcomed the visit by Botswana President Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi.
Masisi is in Zimbabwe for the inaugural Zimbabwe-Botswana Bi-National Commission (BNC). Said Khaya Moyo:
<blockquote>The Bi-National Commission between Zimbabwe and Botswana is a most welcome development cementing relations between the two sister countries. The fact that the meeting by its nature will be co-chaired by the Presidents of the two countries and will cover areas of diplomacy, mining and geology, health and agriculture, science and technology speaks volumes on the focus of economic development.</blockquote>

Zanu-PF Welcomes Botswana President's Visit

Botswana’s president Mokgweetsi Masisi has arrived in the country for the inaugural Zimbabwe Botswana Bi-National Commission (BNC) with President Emmerson Mnangagwa tomorrow.
Masisi was welcomed at Robert Mugabe International Airport by Mnangagwa and his two vice presidents; Kembo Mohadi and Constantino Chiwenga, as well as several Zimbabwean ministers.
A banquet will be held in Masisi’s honour this evening ahead of the meeting tomorrow. Eight memoranda of understanding and agreements are expected to be signed.
