Former Warriors coach Norman Mapeza says the issue of stadiums needs to be addressed before the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers to ensure that the Warriors play their home matches at home.
The FC Platinum coach, who was the last national team coach before FIFA suspended Zimbabwe from international football in early 2022, when he took to the Warriors to the 2021 AFCON finals in Cameroon, said the country’s stadium crisis worries him.
Speaking ahead of his side’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League game against Yadah at Mandava Stadium on Saturday, <a href="https://www.soccer24.co.zw/2023/07/14/the-stadia-issue-needs-to-be-fixed-first/">Mapeza said</a>:

I’m still worried if you look at our stadiums issue at the moment. I understand the games will be played in November.
I was reading the paper today (yesterday) and our Minister of Sport (Kirsty Coventry) said maybe within the next three or four weeks, the National Sports Stadium will be done.
So it means maybe the bucket seats will be there because it will be unfortunate for us to get the reprieve but we end up relocating to South Africa to play our World Cup qualifiers there.
People want to watch football, look at the support the cricket team was getting. We also need that type of support in our football.
The stadia issue needs to be fixed first then maybe we can start saying: “We are back in it now.”
But for the time being, it’s still a 50-50 situation. We are in, but where are we going to play the football?
But apart from that, I think everybody is happy, we are all excited that we have been given the reprieve and we just hope everything goes well for us.

Zimbabwe were placed in Group C in the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers in the draw held in the Ivory Coast on Thursday.
The group also has Nigeria, South Africa, Benin, Rwanda and Lesotho.
The group winners will automatically qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States and Mexico.

Stadia Crisis Worries Mapeza As Warriors Discover 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Opponents

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has said the three-week Premier Soccer League (PSL) break was a blessing in disguise.
Mapeza said the break, despite coming at a time when they were starting to grind out results, enabled the team to work on weaknesses and launched the defence of their title.
Speaking ahead of the matchday 13 round of fixtures this weekend where FC Platinum face Chicken Inn at Mandava Stadium, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/sport/article/200013385/mapeza-buoyant-ahead-of-chicken-inn-clash">Mapeza said</a>:

The break came as a blessing in disguise for us because it gave us ample time to sort out a few things.
We are going to face a good side with a good coach but we have been preparing for this game.
They are former champions, but that won’t count for us. The right mentality and physic will play a key role for us on Saturday.

The Zvishavane-based club had a slow start that saw them fall behind Ngezi Platinum Stars and Highlanders.
On the PSL standings, FC Platinum are in fourth position with 21 points on their tally.
Ngezi Platinum Stars lead the back with 23 points, while Highlanders and Chicken Inn follow, respectively.

Premier Soccer League Break A Blessing In Disguise - Mapeza

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza said that his team is not ready to take part in the CAF Champions League and should use the current FIFA ban to build a team that can compete at that level.
Pure Platinum Play, who won the Premier Soccer League title in the past four seasons, is still far behind other regular CAF Champions League perennial contenders, according to Mapeza. He said:

It’s sad for our football but l have to be honest, as much as we want to compete in the CAF Champions League, we are still lagging behind.
If Zimbabwe was not suspended by FIFA we were going to play but deep down in my heart l know we are not ready for that stage. I have seen top teams in Africa and we are not at that level.
If you look at Morocco and where they are in terms of football, they are too far away.
What their national team did at the World Cup shows a clear picture of the work they are doing. We are still far behind.

Mapeza said his current squad is still young and needs time to grow and be in a position to take on continental powerhouses. He said:

Of course, we want to go to the African Safari but does it make sense for us to go out there and get hammered five or six goals, what will people say? We are not yet ready.
We have to start from somewhere and go step by step up the ladder. In football, it’s like a graph you start from stage zero going up.
We don’t want to go there when l still feel we are not there yet. We can talk of getting experience but do you think you can get experience when you get hammered 10, psychologically you all get affected.
The squad we had in 2018 l feel if they were still here we could have gone far but these guys we have now are still young.
There will be time l feel now we have a squad that can go there and gives us what we want.

FC Platinum Not Ready For CAF Champions League - Mapeza

Former Warriors coach Norman Mapeza said that he is waiting to hear from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) on the way forward following the expiry of his contract at the just-ended Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon last week.
The 49-year-old FC Platinum coach had been working on an interim basis since September last year after the sacking of Croatian coach, Zdravko Logarusic.
Speaking to The Herald, Mapeza conceded that his short-term tenure did not work out as he would have wanted.
He was in charge of eight games and won one, drew two and lost five. Mapeza said:

At the end of the day, I’m not the one who makes decisions.
When I was appointed for those last four matches of the World Cup, of course, the objective was to do well and see how we will progress. But it didn’t work according to my liking.
I thought my contract was done at the end of December but then they (ZIFA) asked me to take the team to AFCON. So the decision definitely lies with them.
We will see what is going to happen. But my wish is for whoever is going to take over, to see our football develop.
I had my opportunity and as I said, statistics don’t lie. There’s no way I’m going to say I won seven out of 10 games. Statistics are clear for everybody to see.
What I wanted to achieve didn’t happen. Everybody wanted us to go there and do well but it didn’t happen and we have to move on.
What is important now is to plan for the future of our football, especially with the national teams.

Logarusic was in charge of the Warriors at CHAN and COSAFA  tournaments where they performed poorly.
Following uninspiring performances in the Warriors’ first two 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Loga was fired.
Mapeza then took over in September 2021 but managed only one point from the last four World Cup qualifiers.
In spite of his failure to breathe life into the Warriors’ World Cup qualifying campaign, Mapeza’s contract was extended to cover the AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

Norman Mapeza Waiting On ZIFA

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is set to recruit a substantive Warriors coach following the expiry of interim coach Norman Mapeza’s contract.
Mapeza replaced sacked Zdravko Logarusic in September last year and was initially tasked with reviving the Warriors’ 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign but the contract was extended further to cover the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Cameroon.
The former Warriors captain’s contract ended last week following the Warriors’ early exit from AFCON. ZIFA’s acting head of secretariat, Xolisani Gwesela, said:

Mapeza’s contract was for this tournament. It was an interim arrangement that was made between him and ZIFA and I can confirm the contract ended at the tournament.
However, it might sound too early now for me to comment further. We will advise the nation of the way forward at the appropriate time.

Mapeza, who is fully employed by premiership club FC Platinum, was being assisted by Taurayi Mangwiro, Mandla Mpofu and goalkeepers’ coach Energy Murambadoro.

Warriors interim coach Norman Mapeza has named the squad for the final two World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia.
Zimbabwe visit South Africa on 11 November in the penultimate match of the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers before hosting Ethiopia at the National Sports Stadium on 14 November.
The Warriors have failed to make it to the second round of the qualifiers after amassing a single point from four matches.
South Africa and Ghana are battling it out for the top spot in Group G, with Bafana Bafana in the driving seat on 10 points.
Ghana have accumulated 8 points, Ethiopia who are sitting third on the log standings have 3 points while Zimbabwe have 1 point.

Warriors Squad For The Final 2022 World Cup Qualifiers Named

Warriors caretaker coach, Norman Mapeza has picked the team that will play the Black Stars of Ghana in a back-to-back World Cup qualifier matches scheduled for next month.
Wellington Mpandare, the ZIFA general manager in charge of all national teams, who is also the Warriors team manager, said they had already written to the clubs asking for the release of the players. He said:

The coach has already named the players who will be part of the Warriors team to play against Ghana, in the back-to-back ties, next month.
We have already dispatched letters to the concerned clubs where the players ply their trade.
The squad will be announced in the coming days, after the necessary confirmations are completed.
We are hoping that all the players, who have been chosen by the coach, will travel for the crucial fixtures.

Mpandare said Mapeza included some local-based players. Former coach Zdravko Logarusic overlooked local-based players due to the inactivity in the local game.
Only Dynamos utility player Godknows Murwira, as well as the FC Platinum duo of William Stima and Silas Songani, were unused substitutes during the goalless draw against South Africa.
With the Chibuku Super Cup resuming next Wednesday, local-based players are expected to be match-fit.
Mpandare also said foreign-based players will fly directly to Ghana.
Mapeza will be hoping to have the UK-based players, among them Marvelous Nakamba, Tendayi Darikwa, Admiral Muskwe, Brendan Galloway and Jordan Zemura.
They were barred by their clubs, from travelling for the matches against South Africa and Ethiopia, because of Covid-19 complications.
Ghana will host the first leg, on October 9, before the two teams clash again, at the National Sports Stadium, three days later.

Mapeza Picks Warriors To Face Ghana, Names To Be Revealed

Warriors interim coach, Norman Mapeza, says there is nothing more to his task than to get the Qatar 2022 campaign back on track.
Mapeza, who also doubles as FC Platinum coach, was named the senior men’s national team coach on Wednesday following the sacking of Zdravko Logarusic on Sunday.
The Croat was axed alongside his assistants, Tonderai Ndiraya, Lloyd Chitembwe, Benjani Mwaruwari as well as goalkeepers’ coach, Tembo Chuma.
Mapeza is being assisted by Triangle coach, Taurai Mangwiro and Mandla Mpofu, while former Warriors goalkeeper Energy “Gokwe” Murambadoro was appointed the goalkeepers’ coach. He said:

There is really nothing much to talk about at the moment. It is clear to all that the situation had gone bad.
I am only coming in to help revive the campaign. We will try our best and ensure that we achieve just that.

The appointment in the national team set-up is Mapeza’s fifth after his first stint as the caretaker coach in 2007 then on an interim basis again in 2010.
His first substantive role came in 2011-12 before returning five years later as a caretaker coach at the beginning of the 2019 Afcon Qualifiers.
The most recent spell saw him taking charge of the famous 3-0 victory over Liberia at the National Sports Stadium in Harare to begin the 2019 Afcon Qualifiers.

Mapeza Speaks On Warriors' Revival Mission

ZIFA have given an update on the search for a new Warriors coach after missing the two deadlines they had promised to make an announcement on Zdravko Logarusic’s replacement.
ZIFA board member, Bryton Malandule, who is the chairman of the technical and development committee told The Herald that he expected an announcement to be made today.
He urged Zimbabweans to be patient saying:

The board has already set in motion the process of identifying a new set-up to take over the affairs of the senior national football team. We are very confident by tomorrow (today), we should be able to make an announcement. Right now it’s premature for me to go into details because we do not want to jeopardise the processes and the discussions that are currently taking place. As a board member, I have the duty to protect the confidential information that is discussed in meetings, unless I have been given the mandate to speak on the subject. So we are asking for Zimbabweans to be patient, just for the next 24 hours.

Malandule said although ZIFA does not have much time to search for a substantive coach it was going to do a thorough job in the shortest time possible. He said:

We know time is not on our side because there are important matches coming up in the next few weeks. But, we still have to do a thorough job in the shortest possible time. Remember, we have short-term and long-term fixes that we need to work on. We need a short-term solution now because we do not have enough time, on our hands, before we play our next game. The long-term thing will obviously be the normal channel, where an advert will be flighted in the media, and we will receive applications which we will work on.

ZIFA is in the hunt for a new coach after firing Zdravko Logarusic on Sunday after the coach won just one of his 14 matches, in charge.  Reports suggest that ZIFA have approached FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza to take over as interim coach who will be responsible for the Warriors for the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers. Benjani Mwaruwari is expected to stay in the interim setup.
Sources have said should Mapeza impress, he could be considered to take charge of the 2021 AFCON finals in Cameroon next January.

ZIFA Gives Update On Search For New Warriors Coach

Soccer24 reports that ZIFA has approached current FC Platinum coach and Warriors former captain Norman Mapeza for the vacant national team coach job.
ZIFAfinally gave in to public pressure and parted ways with Zdravko Logarusic, who had won only one game in the 14 he took charge of. A source who spoke to Soccer24 said ZIFA had approached Mapeza to replace Logarusic who was dismissed together with his assistants Tonderai Ndiraya, Lloyd Chitembwe, Benjani Mwaruwari and Tembo Chuma.
The source said:

The board in consensus that Norman Mapeza is the first option for the now vacant head coach post. He has been approached, but it’s not just about us wanting him, he has to be interested as well, so we will see how it goes. We will see if he can be persuaded,

The downside is Norman Mapeza is still owed money by ZIFA from his previous stints as Warriors coach.  ZIFA chairman Felton Kamambo told The Herald that the football’s governing body’s technical committee was busy with getting in touch with the proposed names. 
He said that the technical committee was given up to today, to come up with the name of a coach, and the announcement will be made today or Tuesday.

FC Platinum Mourns Mapeza's Father

Norman Mapeza is expected to be announced and unveiled as the new head coach of newly-promoted South African premiership club Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC (TTM).
TTM communications manager Tshidino Ndou refused to reveal the identity of the club’s target but confirmed that an announcement will be made soon. Said Ndou:
<blockquote>As a club, we are talking to a number of coaches but we are not in a position to mention any names at this stage. But an announcement on who will be our new coach is imminent.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, TimesLive quoted its sources in Zimbabwe on Tuesday morning as having said that negotiations between Mapeza and TTM officials are at an advanced stage with only a few details to be finalised. Said the Zimbabwean informant:
<blockquote>He [Mapeza] has been talking to them [TTM] for the past few weeks and a deal is imminent.
He is waiting for the South African government to open the borders so that he can travel to Limpopo to finalise this deal and be unveiled to the media.

Norman Mapeza Tipped For South African Return

Former Warriors and FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has said playing in the UEFA Champions League was the peak of his career.
Speaking Polish newspaper Futbol Arsiv, the 48-year-old recalled the matches against Barcelona and Manchester United in Europe’s premier club competition while he was at Turkish side Galatasaray. He said:
<blockquote>When I first went to Poland, I was afraid of snow. It was the first time I saw snow and I could not get out of the house. It was a good time for my career, it was the first time in Europe. The following year I received a proposal from Galatasaray and I ran to the running. I played in the Champions League against Barcelona and Manchester United.
It was the peak of my career … Everyone wanted to play in these games. And let me remind you, then entering the Champions League was much more difficult than it is now because only 16 teams could play at that time, not 32. This was an incredible feeling.
Then there were stars like Romario, Koeman or Guardiola, but none of them was Messi. There was no cliff between us. We were able to fight against Barcelona at breakeven. First of all, we had more experience. We lost to Barcelona with only 2-1 in Camp Nou.</blockquote>

Mapeza Reflects On 'Incredible' UEFA Champions League Experience

Former Warriors coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Norman_Mapeza" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Norman Mapeza</a> reportedly threw in the towel at Chippa United after feeling his work was being undermined by some powerful forces in the background.
Mapeza was also unhappy with the attitude of some senior players, who would come for training in a drunken state, or not come at all – without being punished by the club’s leadership.
The owner of “the world-most chaotic club” Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi, on Thursday, appeared to confirm the reports when he cautioned one of the club’s senior players, Andile Mbeyane, in public. “Chippa” told South African online publication, TimesLive:
<blockquote>If he [Mbeyane] doesn’t improve on his issues of not coming to training or coming to training drunk‚ there is nothing much the club will do for him.
He has abused the fact that he has been with us for many years‚ but I am sure that he and the coach will sit down and find each other to solve the problems.
He has been with us for about 10 years but he has not even reached 130 games — he is supposed to have played at least 300 games.
This shows that he hasn’t done enough for the club. In fact, we have done a lot for him.
… we are sick and tired of people blaming us or us having to fire coaches while certain players are sitting there and just enjoying themselves.</blockquote>
Following Mapeza’s resignation, the Chilli Boys ended up getting coach, Rulani Mokwena, on loan from Pirates.
Mapeza has since returned home and a number of foreign clubs across the continent have shown interest in his services.

Drunk Players & Sabotage By Senior Figures Forced Mapeza To Leave Chippa United

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach, Steve Komphela has dismissed reports that he will replace Zimbabwean international, Norman Mapeza as Chippa United Coach suggesting that there seems to be a huge issue at the club.
The former Bafana Bafana captain said that the departure of a number of coaches (16 in five years) from the club over a very short space of time was enough warning for him not to join the club. Posting on Twitter, Komphela said:
<blockquote>Will I replace Norman Mapeza as Chippa United coach?
Look Rob, when a mouse sees other mice go into a hole and not return, it gets suspicious. One mouse is a mistake, two is a coincidence. But many mice means there is a cat in the hole.
I hope you understand</blockquote>
Mapeza arrived at the Chippa United last year replacing Duran Francis, who briefly joined the Eastern Cape side for 13 days following the sacking of Clinton Larsen following a string of dreadful results.
The former FC Platinum boss was expected to guide Chippa United who are now five points off the drop zone to avoid relegation.
Reports suggest that Mapeza will be replaced by long-serving Chippa assistant coach Mbuyiselo Sambu.

Neither Chippa United nor Mapeza was immediately available to confirm the development but TimesLive reports that the two sides were locked in a meeting which took hours as club bosses tried to convince him to stay.
The publication claims that the impasse stemmed from a misunderstanding over the duties of the technical staff.
Long-serving Chippa assistant coach Mbuyiselo Sambu has taken over the reins on a temporary basis as the team prepares for a league clash against Bidvest Wits away from home on Saturday. Said Sambu:
<blockquote>Yes, I have been asked to take over the coaching duties until a new coach is found.</blockquote>
When Mapeza took over the reins at Chippa towards the end of 2019, the club had still to win a league match after more than half a dozen games.
Mapeza leaves the Chilli Boys 11th on the premiership standings, five points off the drop zone.
Before he took over at Chippa, Mapeza had resigned from FC Platinum who went on to lift the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League under Lizwe Sweswe’s stewardship.

The meeting was scheduled for Monday evening, with concerns that Mapeza could walk away from the Chilli Boys. The publication’s source is quoted as saying:

Meanwhile, Chippa United secured an important victory over fellow relegation candidates AmaZulu in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

The Zimbabwean tactician is unhappy with his strikers, with the team unable to score in their last two competitive matches. He said:
<blockquote>We have strikers, but at the end of the day, they need to know their business on the field.
We cannot keep on reminding them that in order to be the top scorer you have to hit the target.
We have to keep working hard. We have to put more focus on the league games. We will see how the season progresses.</blockquote>

Chippa United FC coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Norman_Mapeza" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Norman Mapeza</a> says he is not afraid of losing his job as even top coaches in the world have been axed from time to time. He said:
<blockquote>You know in this industry you know there will be a day you resign or be sacked as a coach.
Top coaches in the world have been sacked. I’m not saying I’m one of the top coaches, but I’m just giving you an example.
Guys like Jose Mourinho have been sacked, guys like my idol Fabio Capello was sacked by Real Madrid after winning the championship.</blockquote>
The Chippa United owner has a reputation of firing coaches willy-nilly. The club currently sits bottom of the log after 10 league matches.
The club has only managed to win four points so far and is five points behind relegation rivals.
On Friday, Polokwane City parted ways with Zlatko Krmpotic while Cape Town City recently fired Benni McCarthy.

Mapeza: Even Top Coaches In The World Have Been Fired

Former FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza, is reportedly being lined up for the Warriors job by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).
NewsDay reports that ZIFA will move for Mapeza in January 2020 when he plans to return to football management, having taken a sabbatical from football.
Joey Antipas was appointed Warriors coach on a caretaker basis after the sudden resignation of Sunday Chidzambga. His tenure ends in December, possibly opening the way for Mapeza to take over. A NewsDay source is quoted as saying:
<blockquote>He is very popular with the current executive and was their preferred choice to take over when Sunday Chidzambga resigned.
They engaged him then, but he would not leave his job. FC Platinum was also not comfortable with their coach doubling as the national team coach because of the workload he already had.
They argued he had a huge workload because of the Caf Champions League games. Now that he has left, Zifa will engage him as soon as possible before he gets other good offers from elsewhere.</blockquote>

ZIFA Seeks To Appoint Mapeza Warriors Coach - Report

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) offered FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza, the chance to coach the Warriors before the association engaged Joey Antipas on an interim basis.
Mapeza is a former Warriors coach and has won the Premier Soccer League title in the past two seasons with his current club.
According to The Herald, Mapeza asked ZIFA to pay him a quarter of the US$100 000 that he is owed from the time he coached the Warriors. Said Mapeza:
<blockquote>The guys from ZIFA phoned me some three weeks ago asking about my availability for the national team and . . . I told them I was available just like I was the last time when I was called upon to take care of the game against Liberia.
I told them to, at least, pay me even a quarter of the money they owe me since 2012 and they promised to call back and that was the end of the story.</blockquote>
Mapeza revealed that he has been trying to find an amicable solution with ZIFA over the money he is owed. He said:
<blockquote>I don’t believe in the attachment of football property as a way of resolving disputes because I’m someone who is into football and might require to use such things in the future.
Yes, there has been some engagement with ZIFA officials but nothing has materialised so far.</blockquote>

ZIFA Offered Mapeza Warriors Job

Warriors interim coach Norman Mapeza said that there is no bad blood between him and Walter Magaya after he failed to attend a PHD church service following the Warriors’ victory over Liberia on Sunday.
Said Mapeza:
<blockquote>I can tell you that I am very disturbed by all these things that I have been hearing that I had a fallout with Prophet Magaya on Sunday because nothing can be further from the truth.
I called the team manager (Wellington Mpandare) earlier today (yesterday) and, on his phone, I managed to talk to the prophet to tell him that it was wrong for people to try and divide us for their selfish reasons when we had built, in the past two weeks, a very strong relationship.
I told him that during our time in camp I really bonded with him very well and that is why I accepted that he should even come to our training sessions and I could discuss with him issues relating to our preparations.
I told him that we owe him a lot for all that he did in giving us a good camping base where we were able to prepare for the game against Liberia without any distractions.
When we won that game, it appears, some people who didn’t want us to win then found something very negative because they didn’t want the positive story.</blockquote>

He said that he was rushing to prepare for FC Platinum’s next match. Said Mapeza:
<blockquote>After our game I had my programme because, people tend to forget, I am employed by FC Platinum and I had to make the arrangements to come here as quickly as possible. It’s sad that we are discussing all these negative things right now, which have no basis, when we should be talking about all the positive things that happened on Sunday and celebrate such a big victory.</blockquote>

The Herald reports that PHD Ministries founder Walter Magaya and ZIFA president Philip Chiyangwa met and resolved their differences after interim coach Norman Mapeza excused himself from joining the rest of the team at the PHD church service.
The publication also reports that Magaya also heard from Mapeza who explained why he chose to go to Zvishavane instead of attending the service. Magaya also promised to fulfill his pledge to pay each player $1 000 for winning against Liberia. Said Magaya:
<blockquote>I’m still standing with the surprise gesture to the Warriors of the $1 000. I said it live on TV so I will give them the $1 000. ZIFA & Magaya resolve differences, prophet to pay each player $1 000

PHD Ministries founder and leader Walter Magaya has threatened to stop sponsoring the Warriors after interim coach Norman Mapeza refused to attend a church service yesterday evening because he needed to travel to Zvishavane where FC Platinum is based.
Speaking on Star FM Magaya said:
<blockquote>If hosting the national team causes a problem whereby even the head coach is not happy I then may be unable to continue.
Not because I cannot afford it but because I do not want to cause any commotion or any problems it must be a choice for someone to be part of us and my aim is never to cause havoc but to cause peace and love.
I respect the head coach of the national team and I salute him for the win. I give it all to him and he has done very well.
But for the record we are a family and we think the family did good by coming to the church ,but the  failure to come to the church by the head of church and what I heard he said at the gate shows that maybe I have done a mistake and I would not want to continue to do a mistake.
So for next time until I speak to the president of ZIFA and the team manager my decision is I don’t want to disturb them again or their peace.</blockquote>

Magaya threatens to stop sponsoring Warriors after Mapeza refuses to attend PHD church service

Speaking during a press briefing yesterday Warriors interim coach Norman Mapeza gave advice to whoever ZIFA may appoint as the new coach. He said that the coach should maintain the team that beat Liberia 3-0 yesterday in the opening AFCON 2019 qualifying match played at the National Sports Stadium.
Said Mapeza:
<blockquote>The most important thing is just to be consistent, let’s try to keep the team as it is, but everybody knows that I am an interim coach, maybe (for the) next game there would be a new coach, but my advice to whoever, maybe will come and takeover, is that let’s keep this team and include maybe one or two guys who were not available today. I think it is a good team, a good mixture of experienced players and youngsters, I think it is good for the country. Everybody knows that I am employed by FC Platinum and everybody knows I am interim coach here. ZIFA may decide otherwise that’s why I am saying whoever comes and takeover, my advice is for him to keep the team intact.</blockquote>
