CCC co-vice president <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Tendai_Biti">Tendai Biti</a> has described those who support his competitor <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Allan_Markham">Allan “Rusty” Markham</a> as snakes who are siding with “vasina mabvi” literally “those without knees”, a derogatory term for white people.
Both Biti and Markham are eyeing the Harare East Parliamentary seat after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) dissolved the latter’s Harare North constituency in its 2023 Delimitation Report.
Addressing his supporters in Harare East, Biti said he has no plans to become a Senator and declared his intentions to run for Parliament. He was quoted by <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/opposition-mp-biti-on-the-offensive-uses-derogatory-vasina-mabvi-term-in-reference-to-white-competitor-rusty-markham/">NewZimbabwe.com</a> as saying:

I am a legislator and Zanu PF knows what I do in Parliament is unmatched. We are selecting Biti as MP. When I came the other time, I was not mentioning names but today I will.
We do not want snakes in Harare. There are some going around with “vasina mabvi” (white people) but we do not want snakes, we do not want black mambas.
We are going to crush the heads of these snakes. Chamisa for President, Biti for MP.
Send this message across the constituency, to ZIMPHOS, Mukandabhutsu, Kamfinsa, and Greendale.
Do not mention anyone by name, just identify them as snakes.

Biti, Markham and Murisi Zwizwai are some of the veteran opposition legislators who may fail to return to Parliament on 23 August.

Tendai Biti In Racial Slur, Brands Supporters Of His White Rival Snakes

A 24-year-old man has been banned from every stadium in the United Kingdom for three years for racially abusing Brentford’s Ivan Toney on social media.
Antonio Neill, of Robert Street, Blyth, sent an abusive message to Toney via his Instagram account on 14 October 2022, which the player shared with the public via his account.
An investigation into the message was then launched by the Premier League, the club, the player and the police.
The message was treated as a hate crime and was traced to a suspect in the North Shields area of the UK.
Neill pleaded guilty to sending an offensive message when he appeared before magistrates in Newcastle on 25 January.
On Monday, he was sentenced to four months imprisonment for the online offence but the sentence was suspended for two years.
Neill was also banned from football for three years – the first ban of its kind to be issued under the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022.
According to <a href="https://www.premierleague.com/news/3109942?sf265028240=1">a statement</a> issued by the Premier League, the order forbids Neill from attending any regulated football match in the UK, which includes Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and National League fixtures, as well as England home internationals.
The banning order also prevents him from travelling abroad to watch international friendlies, qualification matches and tournaments.
Superintendent Scott Cowie, hate crime lead for Northumbria Police, welcomed the sentence, saying:

Discrimination has absolutely no place in any society, whether out in our communities or online.
I am therefore delighted that the seriousness of Neill’s offence has been reflected with this banning order, the first of its kind to be issued in the UK.
I hope this reinforces our commitment to taking action against anybody who commits a hate crime – it will not be tolerated and we will do all we can to put perpetrators before the courts.
I would like to thank everyone who played their part in this particular case, including the team of officers who worked tirelessly to secure justice as well as our colleagues at the Metropolitan Police, the UK Football Policing Unit and the Premier League.

Brentford also welcomed the sentence,<a href="https://www.brentfordfc.com/en/news/article/club-news-ivan-toney-hate-crime-march-2023"> saying</a> “Court appearances set a strong precedent for anyone else who commits hate crimes and it is our hope that sentences increase in severity until this sort of crime is eradicated.”

UK: Man (24) Receives Football Ban For Racially Abusing Brentford's Ivan Toney

Black Africans in Tunisia are facing racist attacks, stabbings and evictions after the president made some incendiary remarks. On social media, some Tunisians call sub-Saharan African migrants invaders, criminals and rapists who eat their cats.
There are 20,000 “Sub-Saharan Africans” in Tunisia compared to a population of 12 million so they’re not taking over. 
President Kais Saied’s comments echo The Great Replacement Theory that’s popular in right-wing European and North American circles. He’s being accused of racism.
Some African counties including Guinea and Gabon are repatriating their citizens following the attacks, CNN correspondent, Larry Madowo, reported.
Some, however, say they won’t leave the country since there is nothing to go to in their home countries. Watch the video below for more:

Speaking at the country’s National Security Council on February 21, President Saied said migration from sub-Saharan Africa aimed to change Tunisia’s national identity. He said:

The African Union called the president’s remarks racist and shocking, according to <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/3/4/african-migrants-desperate-to-leave-tunisia-after-attacks">Al Jazeera</a>. 
The African Union also postponed a conference that was scheduled for Tunisia next week. The AU Chairperson previously strongly condemned the “racial statements on fellow Africans in Tunisia”
Saed defended his remarks denying that he was inciting racist attacks on black Africans in Tunisia. Tunisia rejects that it is racist, and reminded it was one of the founders of the Organization of African Unity. Said Tunisia in a statement:

Thousands of people from sub-Saharan Africa travel to Tunisia for work in Tunisia or to use the North African country as a springboard to travel to Europe.

South African police have opened a crimen injuria case against a 60-year-old from Benon, Ekurhuleni, after she allegedly called for black people to be banned instead of banning pit bulls.
In South African law, crimen injuria refers to a wilful injury to someone’s dignity, caused by the use of obscene or racially offensive language or gestures.
Gauteng police spokesperson Brenda Muridili said the 60-year-old uttered the speech on a widely circulated WhatsApp voice note.
She said the suspect was arrested and released the same day on a warning to appear in court on 27 March 2023.
<h2>What the woman said</h2>
Bookkeeper Belinda Magor was responding to a message on a WhatsApp group in which she said black women’s uteruses and ovaries should be removed. In the clip, she said:

Estella/Stella, I agree with you wholeheartedly. What I say is ban the black man.
They rape, they steal, they kill, worse than any pit bull could, and they get away with it. Ban those that are making the laws, ban Ekurhuleni, ban the black man.
Get all the black women and cut out their uteruses and their ovaries so that they cannot procreate because they will all turn out the same because they are all the same.
I’m very passionate about this. Ban them, kill them, shoot them. Get rid of them because they are the problem. Not pit bulls, not animals.
Animals are beautiful, and they deserve a warm bed, food, love and attention, and everything else.
God created those animals. Who created the black man? Do you think God? I don’t think so.

SA Police Investigate White Woman Calling For Ban On Black People, Instead Of Dogs

Zambia has extradited a Chinese filmmaker, Lu Ke, to Malawi where he is facing racism and child exploitation allegations.
According to a <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-61862619">BBC News report</a>, Lu Ke was a Malawi resident when he used local children to film personalised greetings videos, some of which included racist content.
These videos can be bought for up to US$70 (£55) on Chinese social media and internet platforms. However, Lu Ke denied making derogatory videos.
On Sunday, 17 July 2022, Malawi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement saying Lu Ke was extradited to the country from Zambia. Read the full statement below:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform members of the public that, with cooperation from the Government of the Republic of Zambia, the fugitive Mr Lu Ke, who fled Malawi to Zambia in June 2022, has been successfully extradited to Malawi on Saturday, 16th July 2022.
Members of the public will recall that Mr Lu Ke fled Malawi after the publication of a BBC report on the dehumanising videos that he produced by tricking Malawian children in Lilongwe and Mchinji districts for profit.
Through cooperating with both the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Zambia, the Malawi Government established that Mr Lu Ke had fled to Zambia using unchartered routes.
The Zambian Government apprehended him for irregular entry and fined him accordingly.
Following this development, the Malawi Government through cooperation among Ministries of Homeland Security, Justice, and Foreign Affairs, reached out to the Zambian Government to request the extradition of Mr Lu Ke.
After procedures for considering the extradition request were completed, the Government of Zambia handed over Mr Lu Ke at the Mchinji border, on 16th July 2022.
Mr Lu Ke is expected to appear in court where he will be charged for contravening various laws of Malawi which the Director of Public Prosecutions will outline soon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to thank the Government of the Republic of Zambia for the assistance it has rendered in this matter.
This cooperation underlines the cordial and brotherly relations the two countries enjoy.
The Ministry also wishes to thank the Government of the People’s Republic of China for the cooperation it provided including in information sharing.
Finally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to urge members of the public to be vigilant and ensure that the rights of children are not abused in any way, shape or form.

'Racism For Sale': Zambia Extradites Chinese Fugitive To Malawi

Zimbabwean international footballer, Martin Mapisa, was a victim of racist abuse at a game in Spain on Saturday.
The Warriors goalkeeper is currently on loan at UD Llanera, from Zamora CF, which expires on 30 June.
Posting on Twitter after the incident, Mapisa said footballers face challenges in foreign countries. He tweeted:

Sometimes it’s very difficult with our career in a foreign country, we are just trying to make our dreams come true and to make our family and our loved ones happy so that we can have a better and happy life. We just pray for strength and a very good heart.

Meanwhile, Palencia Cristo Atletico apologised to Mapisa and promised to investigate the incident. The club said in a social media post:

Mapisa is yet to nail down a place in the Warriors’ starting eleven, with former national team coach Norman Mapeza selecting Petros Mhari as the first-choice goalkeeper at the 2021 AFCON finals.
Mapisa was one of the three players who never got a chance to play at the 2021 AFCON finals in Cameroon.
The others are Scotland-based striker David Moyo and Altrincham defender Alec Mudimu.

Zimbabwean Footballer Racially Abused In Europe

A 19-year-old Zimbabwean student who escaped the war in Ukraine says she “still wants to run” when she hears a siren.
Blessing Mushipe is a medical student at Karazin National University in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city close to the Russian border.
She was forced to flee Ukraine with her colleagues when Russia invaded its neighbour by land, sea and air on 24 February.
Speaking to The Sunday Mail in a telephone interview from the Polish capital of Warsaw on Friday, Mushipe narrated how they escaped from Ukraine and also revealed the hostility black people faced from Ukrainian soldiers. She said:

I still want to run whenever I hear a siren. When we were still in Ukraine, a siren meant we had to rush to the basement for safety.
When news of the war started filtering in, I left Kharkiv where our university is. 
There was nothing happening there at the time, but we left hastily, there was no time to pack and I left a lot behind.
By the time we left, there had not been bombings where we were but we would hear distant sound blasts on occasions

Mushipe travelled to Lviv, a city in the western part of Ukraine, to pick a friend who would be her companion on the journey to the Medyka border with Poland. She said:
<blockquote>
Soldiers would not allow black people on trains. We wanted to board a train to the border and on three occasions we were told that black people were not allowed.
Soldiers were saying only women and children can pass. However, if you were a black woman, they would ask you to disembark.
We were saved by the bus driver at one checkpoint when he lied that we had agreed to donate blood to the Ukrainian soldiers. That is how we were granted passage.
The bus driver left us at the first checkpoint towards the border and we had to finish the rest of the journey on foot.
</blockquote>
Mushipe said they travelled on foot for the rest of the journey to the Polish border, a distance of 20 kilometres. She said:

We waited in the queue from 4 pm to around midnight. The queues were moving, but soldiers would come and pluck you out and send you to the back shouting the words ‘black’ ‘black’ in their language.
We were only allowed to cross at midnight, but our black counterparts who were male were denied entry.
</blockquote>
After crossing the border into Poland, Mushipe and her female colleagues received some provisions from the Zimbabwean Government and a few Poland based well-wishers. Added Mushipe:

We have been well taken care of here in Poland… we got here and there was a boarding house which was booked.
We also have food and all the basic supplies we may need, which were organised by the Embassy.
Our tickets are being processed, and we will be travelling back home soon.

A video of a South African white lady teaching black helpers how to wash their hands has generated anger, with some viewers considering the woman’s actions racism.
The lady and some white men, who are members of the community can be seen defending the woman’s actions. The woman claims that there is nothing wrong with her actions as she is helping to educate people on ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

WATCH: South African White Lady Criticised For Racism After Teaching Black Helpers How To Wash Their Hands

A gang of thugs were caught on CCTV launching a horrific attack on a Zimbabwean refugee living in Glasgow, pelting him with lit fireworks and bricks outside his home. The attack was caught on cameras installed by the victim himself at the property. He suffered burns to his hands and feet because of the fireworks.
Able Miller, 62, who stood as Zanu Ndonga candidate in the 2000 elections, went to Scotland to seek a safe haven in 2002 after he was shot and burned by political rivals. But growing resentment against immigrants has seen him come under attack 17 times in recent years. In the early hours of Sunday morning, during Guy Fawkes celebrations, a group of teenage boys, launched the worst attack he has endured so far.
The time signature on the footage shows 1.15am but the attack actually took place at 12.15am. During the attack, Able was also subjected to terrible racial abuse.
