Media personality Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa has expressed regret over publicly announcing her pregnancy after losing her twin babies shortly after birth.
Parirenyatwa announced her pregnancy on social media last year, revealing that she had opted to use a sperm donor while still looking for “Mr. Right” because she felt that time was running out. In a recent interview, Parirenyatwa stated that she shared her story to start a conversation about miscarriage and stillbirth, which are often taboo subjects in Zimbabwean culture.
She told Alpha Media Holdings CEO Trevor Ncube that “the first thing you should know is that not everyone is happy for you. She added:

The second lesson is to safeguard beautiful things because humans destroy them. Just be quiet.
In Shona there is a saying ‘usafukure hapwa’ (loosely translated to mean don’t disclose inner secrets). That is one of those things, miscarriage or losing your child.
Mine I do not call it a miscarriage because I delivered, they were live at birth so we cannot call it a miscarriage. I lost my babies and it’s a completely different experience.

She expressed her disappointment in the local culture that impinges on women’s rights, including the taboo surrounding talking about losing a child. Parirenyatwa encouraged women facing similar challenges to seek help from professionals, friends, and family. She also urged them not to feel ashamed or like a failure, as it was beyond their control. She said:
<blockquote>
I do not know how our culture says we should not talk about losing a child. It also says that you should not grieve or cry when you have lost a baby, something mythical about how it means that you will not conceive.
There are so many rules and terms and conditions that our culture has that I need to question our ancestors about.
I would tell anybody going through this that there are professionals, friends and family that you can reach out to.
There is a shame that women also carry especially if it is your first attempt at trying to become a mother. You then feel like a failure so there is a shame that you carry to say that I could not carry a child to term, my womb is not fit for motherhood.

African culture often advises against publicising one’s pregnancy until after the first trimester due to high rates of miscarriage and stillbirth. Some cultures believe that announcing a pregnancy publicly may attract negative energies or evil spirits that could harm the mother and child.

Ruvheneko Regrets Publicising Her Pregnancy As She Loses Her Twins

Former radio and TV presenter Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa is expecting her first baby with a sperm donor.
In a post on Instagram, the 33-year-old daughter of the former Health Minister David Parirenyatwa revealed that she took the unconventional route to have a baby after she discovered that she have fibroids and that she was getting older. She wrote:

I’ve wanted to be a mother since I was 21. My heart has been on some adventures between now and then. It has buried enough tears and I’m unable to trust easily, love freely or kiss any more frogs.
Like most of us, I’ve loved and lost and above all, I’ve learned. Last year, I convinced myself that while I wait for Mr Right, my body is not getting any younger, so why not start my journey to motherhood, even if it meant unconventionally?
… In all this, I discovered that I have fibroids, many of them. So this triggered me into action.
What if I keep waiting for the fairytale, what if I fail to have children, like ever? Fast forward past all the prayers, consultations and advice, I fell pregnant.

While she said she respects women who are in their 30s and believe they are still young, Ruvheneko said she had reached her “threshold”. She said:

Perhaps, but I worry that in our narratives as 21st century women, as feminists, as gender equity advocates, we are getting a little lost along the way.
I respect the 30 somethings who are convinced that we’re still young and that we’ve time. 
Personally, I’ve reached my threshold. With my fibroids, genetics and personal goals, I’m ready to be called mum.

It was reported in April 2021 that Ruvheneko was divorcing her husband of seven years, Tendai Basil Mafara.
Ruvheneko filed for divorce through the High Court stating that she has not been living with Mafara since 2016.
She told the court that she and her estranged husband have lost love for each other and there were no prospects of reconciliation.

In a telephone interview with NewZimbabwe.com, radio personality Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa said she will issue a statement on her exit from Zimpapers’ Capitalk FM.
Reports suggest she was dismissed on the instigation of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga after her interview with National Patriotic Front’s Jealousy Mawarire last Wednesday. Ruvheneko implied that such reports are untrue when contacted by NewZimbabwe.com for a comment. Said Ruvheneko:
<blockquote>I will soon issue a statement on everything. Unlike all other online publications who are running with an inaccurate story, I am thankful that you are the first to actually call and verify the facts with me. I am humbled by your interest.</blockquote>
A close associate told NewZimbabwe.com that Ruvheneko is leaving Zimpapers to pursue other opportunities. The source told NewZimbabwe.com that Ruvheneko was leaving on amicable termss and by mutual consent although the Mawarire interview accelerated the process.

Ruvheneko To Issue Statement On Capitalk FM Exit

In a statement yesterday, Zimpapers Group spokesperson Ms Beatrice Tonhodzayi announced the appointment of talk show host Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa to the post of Projects Manager for the Radio Broadcasting Division, as well as the appointment of Simon Mapuranga to the post of general manager for Bold Ads.
Parirenyatwa will be overseeing projects for the division’s radio stations, namely Star FM and Diamond FM as well as Nyaminyami FM in Kariba and Capitalk FM in Harare which are owned by Kingston’s Holdings. Mapuranga’s appointment is expected to lead to the revival of Bold Ads which is well known for its production of telephone directories in the past.

Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa Promoted

I am a Parirenyatwa. This is a blessing and a curse. Without explaining much I will say this: I am not sorry for who I am by birth. What I will explain, because it seems to have affected my personal journey as <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Ruvheneko_Parirenyatwa" target="_blank">Ruvheneko</a>, is this: I work for everything that I am as a media practitioner. 
I have a set that is at the School of Health Sciences. It is there because anyone can pay rent there to shoot whatever they need to shoot. I’ve just embarked on my solo career since I left formal employment. I don’t have the resources or capacity yet to build or buy my own location to house my own studio. My production team looked high and low for me for the best place to shoot season 1 of “Ruvheneko.” They led me to the School of Health Sciences. I did not even know they had this facility. I met the team there, I made a down payment, I shot my first episode at the Meikles Hotel because it is beautiful there and it was fitting for the Minister of Tourism and the Hospitality Industry. 
I will host shows in various locations based on who my guests are. My second episode was on my set, at the School of Health Sciences, where one pays an amount each time they shoot. My father, until I sent him messages that were going around speculating and critiquing my set location, did not know that’s where my set was located. He had and has nothing to do with me using it. It is open to the public and I am the public, as Ruvheneko. I do not and never have abused any health facility or education facility because of who my father is. This is my truth. I understand that there are life-size issues in Zimbabwe that can be blamed on the current government – and yes – my father as a senior member of this very government, but what I will not accept is being judged as though I am abusing the potential opportunities my father’s position can impose on such institutions. I am me. He is him. The government is the government. I am doing my job. I have not asked for anything for free. I have not displaced any students or clients in that institution because of “who my father is.” Believe this. It is THE truth. I hope that those that appreciate my work will respect me as Ruvheneko and separate me from the perception and sad truths in some instances that those in power in our country, together with their direct blood relations can and have abused public funds or facilities. 
I am Ruvheneko. Until I do or say anything ‘below board’, by all means, attack, judge and vindicate me because I will be guilty and deserving. For now, let me do my job and let me be Ruvheneko. I won’t succumb to social media slander and abuse. I can’t be abused because I am not the government itself. I am an easy target because of how exposed I have made myself. I am easily accessible and I understand that with the frustration many of us have as Zimbabweans I am a ‘nice’ place to dump on and send hate mail to. I’ll take the bullets because I am a Parirenyatwa. But I am not my father, although I am proudly his daughter. He is my father FIRST. He is the Minister of Health and Child Care, in MY eyes, second to that. I get it. I get how the location of my set raised eyebrows, but hear MY truth and compare it with the facts then allow me to continue, until I have fault. I’m sorry that the state of our nation has made us all question every last thing that is or is affiliated with the current government. I get it. Ruvheneko's full statement on allegations that she is abusing state resources

Media personality <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Ruvheneko_Parirenyatwa" target="_blank">Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa</a> has refuted allegations that are circulating on social media that she is abusing government resources.  Some people had denounced  her for her alleged  hypocrisy while others have asked her to explain herself on why she was  running her new television show from the School of Health Sciences at <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Parirenyatwa_Group_of_Hospitals" target="_blank">Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals</a>.  Some had attributed this, to Ruvheneko taking advantage of her father, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/David_Parirenyatwa" target="_blank">David Parirenyatwa</a>‘s  position as Minister of Health to use the facilities at the hospital for free, while medical students have to pay fees to access and maintain the same resources.
However, Ruvheneko addressed these allegations saying that contrary to popular perception, she actually rented the premises for her shoot.  She also stressed that  the facility to rent the premises has always been there and is open to anyone else, who may be interested in doing so, irrespective of the father’s position.  She added that her father, had no idea at all that she had used the School of Health Sciences to shoot an episode of her show until she told him.

Ruvheneko refutes allegations that she is abusing government resources

Media personality <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Ruvheneko_Parirenyatwa" target="_blank">Ruvheneko Parirenytwa</a> has filed court papers saying that Tafadzwa Musarara should sue her former employer  <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/ZiFM_Stereo" target="_blank">ZiFM Stereo</a> instead.  Musarara filed a $200 000 lawsuit against Ruvheneko after she allegedly humiliated him during a radio interview on Zi-FM last year.  However, Ruvheneko is arguing that she was doing her job and denied defaming  Musarara.  She continued that Musarara should also sue her former employees as she was doing her job.
Ruvheneko’s lawyers  Coghlan Welsh and Guests legal practitioners filed a response who excerpts reads:
<blockquote>The Defendant’s actions during the time in question were within the course and scope of her employment with Zi FM Stereo. In as much as the Defendant denies defaming the Plaintiff, it is only proper that the Defendant’s erstwhile employer be joined to these proceedings given that what is in issue transpired during the course and scope of Defendant’s employment with Zi FM Sterio,
The Defendant shall accordingly apply for the joiner of her erstwhile employer to these proceedings.</blockquote>
