A cross-section of Zimbabweans have taken to social media platform site X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustration over the move by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to direct Treasury to fund Thokozani Khupe’s cancer treatment in India.
While others have commended the government for the gesture, citizens say cancer treatment should be readily available at public hospitals and affordable for all those who need it.
Khupe is a former Deputy Prime Minister (2009-2013) and currently a CCC proportional representation legislator.
Some Zimbabweans who shared their thoughts on social media about the development bemoaned the country’s dilapidated health system which has resulted in countless avoidable deaths as the majority of citizens cannot afford to seek treatment abroad.
Only political and business elites, and those connected to the elites can fund trips to South Africa, India, Singapore and China, among other countries for medical care.
An X user, Bvudzijena asked “Ko Mary Mubaiwa?” (what about Marry Mubaiwa?) in reference to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s ex-wife who was allegedly blocked from travelling to South Africa for medical treatment and eventually had her right arm amputated.
A specialist trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, Dr John Nyahunzvi, recommended amputation for Marry’s right hand above her elbow due to severe sepsis syndrome, non-healing ulcer and chronic osteomyelitis.
She is currently being tried for attempted murder after she allegedly tried to pull out an intravenous life-saving tube from her then husband, VP Chiwenga, at a South African hospital in 2018.
Respected journalist and filmmaker Hopewell Chin’ono said:

There is NO single working radiotherapy cancer treatment machine in all public hospitals in Zimbabwe.
Ordinary citizens are dying daily from treatable cancer because politicians have looted public funds meant to buy these machines.
Political Elites fly out, what about the poor?

Skilled Rebhara said: “For the last 5 years there has been no working radiotherapy machine in the public health sector. many patients are being diagnosed with cancer vodii. why can’t they just buy the radiotherapy machine!!”
Privilledge Mhlanga wrote: “Before, during and after. The narrative stays the same. Dr Khupe is only helped because she is known. If Dr Khupe had not participated in politics like the majority, I think she would not have been assisted. Let us work to build a better country for all. Quick recovery Dr Khupe.“
Tete Aunty said: “I lost my brother to cancer because he is not politically connected.“
Pepukai Maringe wrote: “An ordinary person like Thomas Madirativhange will be waving goodbye to friends and relatives as a result because he is too far away to be recognizes for assistance.“
Kudakwashe Sibanda said: “Good for Makhuphe, but what about others?“
Habibi said: “All the funds being used to finance this medical tourism can be channelled to purchasing a radiotherapy machine.“

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly authorised Treasury to fully fund opposition CCC Senator, Thokozani Khupe’s medical trip to India.
Posting on the social media site X, Presidential spokesperson George Charamba said Khupe is set to undergo cancer treatment in India and the government will cover the expenses. <a href="https://x.com/dhonzamusoro007/status/1704762326564618673?s=20">He wrote</a>:

Just hours after she had been sworn in as a Senator in the 10th Parliament of Zimbabwe on 07 September, Khupe, who looked frail at the event, revealed that she had a second cancer attack.
Khupe was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and had to undergo treatment and surgery.
In response to her own experience, she established the Thokozani Khupe Cancer Foundation (TKCF) in 2012, aiming to raise awareness about cancer.
She highlights the urgency of early detection and the lack of awareness surrounding cancer, as many women continue to lose their lives to the disease.

Govt Says To Fund Thokozani Khupe's Medical Trip To India

The spokesperson for the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Fadzayi Mahere, has highlighted political intimidation and violence as significant factors contributing to women’s reluctance to assume political leadership positions. This reluctance is evident in the low participation rate of only 11% of women in this year’s general elections, despite women comprising the majority of the country’s population. Among the 11 individuals vying for the presidency, Elisabeth Valerio of the United Zimbabwe Alliance is the sole female candidate.
In the previous 2018 elections, there were a record-breaking four female contenders for the presidency. However, when candidate registration closed for the National Assembly in this election cycle, the major political parties had fielded fewer than 12% women candidates each. In the National Assembly, there are 70 women candidates compared to 637 men across 210 constituencies, representing a meagre 11% of the overall candidate pool, a decline from the 14% figure in 2018.
During a recent press conference in Harare, Fadzayi Mahere of the Citizens Coalition for Change emphasized that the hostile political environment in the country acts as a deterrent for women actively engaging in politics. She said:

We would have loved to see more women participating in leadership positions but sadly violence, harassment and intimidation are forcing women to shy away.
We must create a safe and inclusive environment where women can participate, express their ideas and contribute to the development of our nation. Let us break these barriers and empower women to take their place in shaping the future of Zimbabwe.

Linda Masarira, the president of the Labour Economists Afrikan Democrats, expressed similar sentiments after her unsuccessful bid for the presidency. Masarira said:

As an advocate for gender equality, I am determined to challenge the patriarchal norms that persist in Zimbabwe’s political landscape. It is high time we dismantle the barriers that favour men.
Let us empower women to rise, amplify their voices, and reshape our political environment to truly reflect the diversity and strength of our nation.

Section 17 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, however, stipulates the promotion of full gender balance and the complete participation of women, based on equality with men, in all spheres of Zimbabwean society.
In response to the low participation of women, the Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD) emphasised that it would further relegate women to the periphery of development. WILD expressed concern that this marginalisation would hinder women’s involvement in decision-making processes, which is detrimental to democracy and perpetuates gender inequality. Additionally, it warned that women’s concerns regarding opportunities, public resource management, and service delivery would not receive adequate prioritization.

Fadzayi Mahere: Political Intimidation And Violence Deter Women From Leadership

Professor Jonathan Moyo, Zimbabwe’s former Information Minister, has advised former Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Thokozani Khupe not to contest against Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube for the Cowdray Park parliamentary constituency seat in Bulawayo during the 23 August 2023 general election.
Moyo argued that Ncube is the best possible candidate for Cowdray Park and the region. He argued that if the elections are about deploying the most able and best-positioned candidate with the self-evident capacity to get things done for the community, Ncube deserves the support of everyone in Cowdray Park and the region, including and particularly from Dr. Khupe.
Moyo acknowledged that his statement was not an indictment of Dr. Khupe but an acknowledgement of the objective reality on the ground in Cowdray Park and the region. He argued that Khupe has not been able to do anything differently or better for the constituency or the region since she first went to parliament in 2000. On the other hand, Moyo claimed that Ncube has everything to offer from which the community and the region have a lot to benefit. He said:

All things considered, and without taking anything from or casting any aspersions on her, Dr Khupe who indeed is very much adored in the region, will be well advised not to take a dive into this one.
This is because Prof Mthuli Ncube is the best possible candidate for Cowdray Park and the region.
If truth be told, and if elections are about having communities deploy their most able and best positioned or placed sons or daughters with self-evident capacity to get things done for the community, then it is manifestly clear that Prof Ncube deserves the support from everyone not only in Cowdray Park but also across the region, including and particularly from Dr Khupe.
It is not an indictment of Dr Khupe but an acknowledgement of the objective reality on the ground in Cowdray Park and the region that there is really hardly much that she would be able to do differently or better now for either the constituency or the region which she has not been able to do since 2000, when she first went to Parliament.
If Dr Khupe returned to Parliament in August 2023, she would merely add to the dwindling minority numbers of the opposition benches. That would perhaps mean something to her personally, as it has meant since 2000, but it will not mean anything to or for Cowdray Park, let alone the region.
On the other hand, Prof Ncube has nothing much if anything to gain personally, but he has everything to offer from which the community and the region have a lot to benefit.
This is an objective fact. It’s praxis, and that’s what real politics is all about: the community using what it has [Prof Ncube] to get what it needs [development] and regular high level attention as might be necessary from time to time over the next five years.
But of course Dr Khupe has a constitutional right to stand for the parliamentary election in Cowdray Park or anywhere else for that matter. Howevet, if she stands in Cowdray Park, she should not be surprised to see many who have supported her in her trials and tribulations in the past, and who have tremendous respect for her, do the right thing to support Prof Ncube this time round.
This is because in this case, and on this occasion, support for Prof Ncube is support for everyone in Cowdray Park, the region and the nation, given the truism that the best national politics is local!

Mthuli Ncube has been confirmed as the <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G">ZANU PF candidate</a> for the Cowdray Park constituency. He emerged as the uncontested candidate in the party primaries. Thokozani Khupe will be representing the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa.
<h3>Some Context:</h3>
Matabeleland in Zimbabwe feels it has been neglected by the government in terms of development and infrastructure projects, resulting in poor living conditions for its residents. The region has inadequate road networks, limited access to clean water, poor health facilities, unreliable electricity supply, and inadequate schools.
The region’s history of political tensions with the ruling party and being predominantly inhabited by the Ndebele ethnic group may have contributed to its neglect. Efforts by civil society organizations and community leaders to address this issue have been made, but the situation remains a challenge for many residents.
According to Moyo’s reasoning, a person of Mthuli Ncube’s status as Minister of Finance may have a better chance of changing the trajectory of development in Matabeleland compared to a mere Member of Parliament if Thokozani Khupe were to win.

Jonathan Moyo: Khupe Shouldn't Contest Against Mthuli Ncube For Cowdray Park

Former Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe is reportedly set to contest the newly-created Cowdray Park National Assembly seat on a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) ticket in forthcoming elections.
Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube will represent ZANU PF in Cowdray Park after he sailed through uncontested during the party’s primary elections.
The CCC candidate selection process took place last Wednesday countrywide and those nominated will then fight it out in internal elections on a date yet to be advised.
<a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/chaos-in-ccc-candidate-selection/">The Sunday News</a> reported that in Bulawayo, nominations include Khupe for Cowdray Park and Sindiso Mazibisa who is set to battle it out with incumbent MP, Anele Ndebele and political activist, Promise Mkhwananzi in Magwegwe.
In Bulawayo South, incumbent Makokoba MP, Alderman James Sithole will face businessman Francis Mangwendeza while the party’s deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziba has been nominated for the Pelandaba-Tshabalala constituency.
In Nketa, Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) chairperson, Ambrose Sibindi was nominated together with Obert Manduna and the incumbent MP, Phelela Masuku.
David Coltart is reportedly set to contest Councillor Tawanda Ruzive in Ward Five, amid indications that CCC is pushing for Coltart to be the next city’s mayor.
The majority of the Bulawayo councillors, who have previously denied allegiance to Douglas Mwonzora, were reportedly nominated in the process.
CCC spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, recently told reporters that the process has at least four stages with the nomination being the first stage. She said:

Following the nomination [process], there is going to be a vetting process and the fact that one has been nominated is not the end of the situation, it doesn’t mean that you are yet eligible to be a candidate.
There will also be a process of community consensus building where citizens will come together and be told there is X, there is Y candidate, who do you prefer and why, they have an opportunity to make their case, deliver a very brief manifesto of what they plan to deliver in their wards or constituency and also to take questions from the community concerning their eligibility to run.

Reports suggest that CCC’s so-called Change Champion in Chief Nelson Chamisa was unanimously nominated to stand as the opposition party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.
Chamisa is the founding leader of the party and his allies have described him as the party’s “best foot” to challenge ZANU PF leader, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, for the second time after narrowly losing the race in 2018.

Thokozani Khupe Set To Challenge Mthuli Ncube In Cowdray Park | Report

Former Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe has urged both men and women to get screened for breast cancer as early detection and treatment boosts one’s chances of survival.
Khupe made the call as the world dedicates the rest of October to raising awareness on breast cancer.
The former trade unionist was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2011 and underwent treatment and surgery which cost her one of her breasts.
In 2021, Khupe founded the Thokozani Khupe Cancer Foundation (TKCF) to raise awareness on cancer. She said:

It is therefore important to note that men are affected and hence the need for both sexes to do screening and self-examination. Early detection of cancer saves lives.
I am a living testimony of that. I was diagnosed 11 years ago but after treatment, I am cured and still alive even today.
The TKCF turns 10 years old this October as it was launched on the 24th of October 2012. 
We continue to advocate for the establishment of cancer screening and treatment facilities in all the 1 958 wards in Zimbabwe as well as that cancer screening and treatment must be available, affordable and accessible taking into consideration that we have only two hospitals catering for cancer.

Khupe called for the establishment of a Cancer Levy in line with the Aids Levy to make cancer treatment available, accessible and affordable for all Zimbabweans. She added:

The sad reality is, women only discover that they have breast cancer when their cancer is at stage three or four, due to a lack of awareness and barriers to health services. 
Stages three and four are advanced stages such that very little can be done.

Thokozani Khupe Urges Men To Get Screened For Breast Cancer

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Republic_Police">Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)</a> has dismissed reports which say <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Thokozani_Khupe">Thokozani Khupe</a>, a former Deputy Prime Minister during the Government of National Unity (GNU) had been arrested. In a statement seen by Pindula News, ZRP said the reports were totally false. Reads the statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police dismisses a story circulating on Newsdzezimbabwe.co.uk, CITE and other social media platforms linked to Citizen Coalition for Change Bulawayo’s Swithern Chirowodza that Dr. Thokozani Khupe and other CCC activists were arrested as totally false. 
The Police has not effected any arrest on Khupe and associates. The false story is dismissed with the contempt it deserves. It is totally wrong for politicians to claim arrest by Zimbabwe Republic Police in false circumstances.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police, in actual fact impounded a South African registered Toyota Hilux registration number JW15PT GP belonging to Joubert Maplanka (64) for failure to produce a valid Temporary Import Permit at the 98km peg along Bulawayo- Plumtree Road.
The vehicle has been in Zimbabwe since July 2021 and the TIP is no longer valid. Thokozani Khupe later came aboard a different vehicle and was not arrested at all.

ZRP Dismiss Reports Saying Former Deputy Prime Minister Khupe Was Arrested

CCC member Thokozani Khupe said the opposition party needs a thousand votes to gain control of three wards in the upcoming by-election in Bulilima.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) will hold by-elections in Bulilima on 3 September 2022 in Ward 1, 14 and 16 following the resignation of ZANU PF councillors, Tonny Mlotshwa and Ntungamili Dube and the death of Delani Mabhena.
Currently, ZANU PF controls 21 councillors in Bulilima Rural District Council while the opposition MDC Alliance has one ward.
Speaking during a recent Twitter space organised by the CCC Mthwakazi, a group of the party’s supporters based in the diaspora, Khupe, who was the deputy Prime Minister during the GNU era (2009-2013), said:

The by-election will build a strong foundation for the 2023 election. Bulilima used to be our stronghold up until 2013 and it is very possible for us to regain it.
We can only manage to generate these votes, if we have the right tools to use, hence the reason why we are appealing for your assistance in terms of fuel, t-shirts and flyers.
The manpower we have is ready to work but people need assistance to be able to interact with the electorate.
As you know, people vote for the party which interacts with them constantly. That is why it is important that we keep in touch with our electorate until September 2, a day before voting on September 3, 2022.
This can only happen if we go to all the villages and be there every day. That’s why we need fuel, fliers, and t-shirts.
Campaign teams can’t go without t-shirts and regalia because people want to identify with them through their regalia. People need that regalia so we are appealing to you.
We have people who are not registered, people who don’t want to vote and passive voters so we want to change them and make sure everybody votes because every vote counts.
We are going to be interacting with people on the voters’ roll, who are registered, talking to them to generate the 900 and 1 000 votes.

1 000 Votes Needed For CCC To Win Bulilima By-election - Khupe

The MDC-T breakaway faction led by Thokozani Khupe has ceased to exist as a political formation as the former Prime Minister disbanded it and joined forces with CCC in March.
Khupe proclaimed the formation of a rival MDC-T party in January 2022 following deep divisions with party leader Douglas Mwonzora.
Khupe’s spokesperson, Ntando Ndlovu, told CITE that it was the National Council that made the decision to disband the party. Said Ndlovu:

MDC-T ceased to exist on March 22, 2022, when the former DPM announced that all MDC-T members had joined the Citizens Coalition for Change.
The decision was taken by the then National Council which then mandated Dr Khupe to make the announcement.

Ndlovu said former MDC-T members were also happy to be part of CCC and their focus was “on mobilising for change, not for positions.”
The MDC has split at least five times since its formation in 1999.
The first was in 2005 between the founding party president Morgan Tsvangirai and Welshman Ncube.
The second was in 2014 when Tendai Biti formed MDC Renewal (PDP), and soon after that Job Sikhala created MDC 99.
In 2018, the party split again between Nelson Chamisa and Khupe following the death of Tsvangirai.

Thokozani Khupe’s MDC-T Faction Disbanded

The opposition Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC-A) led by Senator Douglas Mwonora has appointed two members to replace Thokozani Khupe and Nomvula Mguni who were recalled by the party. The appointed are Ndebele Visitor and Nyika Florence. In a notice seen by Pindula News, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) chair, Justice Priscilla Chigumba said their appointment was with effect from the 19th of July when the notice was published. Former Deputy Prime Minister, Thokozani Khupe, has urged Zimbabweans to rally behind the Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in the 2023 general elections, saying the opposition party is “the only game in town”.
Khupe made the remarks recently while addressing CCC supporters during the by-election victory celebrations for Nkulumane legislator Kucaca Phulu in Bulawayo. Khupe said:

We are also proud of our party, CCC, in that on March 26, it contested polls when it was just two months old but it clobbered a party which had been in existence for five decades.
Out of the 28 parliamentary seats, CCC got 19 and ZANU-PF got only nine. Out of 105 Council seats, CCC won 75 and ZANU-PF got only 22. This shows that CCC is the only game in town.

Khupe challenged voters to vote for CCC in large numbers to ensure that the party forms the next government. She said:

For now, if Phulu goes to Parliament to represent you, who will he talk to since his president is not at the State House?
The same applies to Rafamoyo, even if he goes to Council, who will he talk to since his president is not at the State House?

CCC Bulawayo province has refuted a report claiming that former MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe donated offices to the Nelson Chamisa-led opposition party.
Online media publication, Bulawayo24, reported that the party offices have since been painted yellow after the donation. It said:

The office has since been changed from the former MDC red colours to the CCC yellow colours.
The late Morgan Tsvangirai deputy (Khupe) recently joined the CCC party and has been active in mobilising structures across Matabeleland.

However, speaking in an interview with NewsDay, CCC Bulawayo spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza said the Bulawayo offices were never owned by Khupe. Chirowodza said:

To the best of our knowledge, the CCC Bulawayo party offices (Gertrude Mthombeni House) were never even for a mere second owned by Khupe. These are lies meant to spark divisions in the party.

CCC Bulawayo Dismisses Khupe Office Donation Report

CCC leader Nelson Chamisa on Friday, 06 May, said he welcomes former Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe saying the newly-formed opposition party is open to all citizens who want to remove ZANU PF from power.
Addressing a CCC rally at Madlambudzi business centre in Bulilima West, Matabeleland South Province, Chamisa said:

I know that people complain that Khupe caused a lot of problems for us but we say, Khupe come, and everybody else.
The difference between CCC and ZANU PF is that CCC represents the future and ZANU PF the past.

Khupe, a former MDC-T vice president and Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) interlocutor, attended the rally.
Some CCC party members and the Bulawayo provincial executive have openly said they were not willing to work with Khupe.
They accuse her of destroying the MDC Alliance when she recalled the coalition’s MPs and councillors when she was the acting president of the MDC-T.
Khupe has, however, been on the road, campaigning for Chamisa, and holding voter registration awareness campaigns in Bulawayo and rural Matabeleland in spite of the resentment.
Meanwhile, Chamisa urged Zimbabweans to abandon ZANU PF, saying the ruling party has caused the suffering of the masses since 1980. He said:

Zanu PF is a minority. The majority are the citizens. Why would you continue to vote for a party that has made you suffer since 1980? 
They stole the votes from Father Zimbabwe Joshua Nkomo in 1980…and all those other years and they want to come back again in 2023 to steal the votes. This time it will not happen.
CCC is a small baby and only 3 months old but fighting a big old man and we managed to beat him in the recent elections.

CCC claims to have won in the 26 March by-elections after taking 19 of the 28 contested parliamentary seats.
However, it can be argued that it was ZANU PF that emerged victorious after gaining two seats it had lost in the 2018 elections and also narrowed the gap in the seats that were won by CCC.

Chamisa Welcomes Khupe To CCC

Top CCC leaders have reportedly tasked former MDC-T vice president Thokozani Khupe with campaigning for the party in Bubi and Umguza districts in Matabeleland North ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.
The former Deputy Prime Minister trekked Bulawayo and Matabeleland provinces urging citizens to register during the mobile voter registration exercise that ended on 30 April 2022.
Khupe was working with provincial CCC leaders and the party’s interim vice president, Welshman Ncube.
This comes after she announced that she had joined CCC following her acrimonious departure from the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora.
Khupe’s spokesperson, Ntando Ndlovu, told CITE that the former trade unionist had been tasked to mobilise rural voters by CCC leadership in Harare. Said Ndlovu:

She’s been deployed to Bubi and Umguza as part of the party’s rural mobilisation strategy. That’s where the focus will be going forward.
In Bulawayo, she teamed up with other senior opposition leaders and they toured several western suburbs urging Bulawayo residents to register to vote.

Ndlovu claimed that Khupe was working well with the majority of senior leaders of CCC, despite sentiments from some members, especially in Bulawayo Province, who were opposed to her entry into the party. Said Ndlovu:

The sentiments that you are referring to are coming from staff riders and gatekeepers who are incapable of mobilizing citizens and the electorate.
They then, therefore, resort to issuing reckless and senseless statements in the media to get attention, for which they have an insatiable appetite. Dr Khupe remains unshaken and clear about the task at hand.
… Khupe has used the door-to-door campaigns to urge the citizenry to vote for CCC and Advocate Nelson Chamisa ahead of next year’s elections.
The citizens have generally welcomed the message that Dr Khupe has carried to them and they have applauded her decision to throw her weight behind Adv Chamisa.
As a former trade unionist, Dr Khupe is really humbled by the amount of positive feedback she’s receiving from the ground.

CCC president Nelson Chamisa has said former MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe is free to join the newly-formed party.
Speaking in an interview with NewsDay on Wednesday, Chamisa said CCC will, however, define membership to protect itself from people who might be seeking to destroy it from within. Said Chamisa:

You can’t stop someone who has come and said they want to be part of CCC. After all, this is a citizen initiative, this belongs to the people, we are working to change the nation for the better, not for CCC, but for everyone, so even those in ZANU PF who want to see change are welcome.
Obviously, we will define our membership, we will protect from those who might want to harm the party, but it is critical for everyone to understand that we are not about positions, but delivering change that will benefit not only us but generations to come, this country needs a break, it needs new leadership and a breath of fresh air, this is our focus and not positions.

CCC officials, especially in Bulawayo Province, are reluctant to work with Khupe, accusing her of destroying the MDC Alliance when she was interim MDC-T president.
After falling out with MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora over the control of party funds, Khupe started to court CCC officials, but CCC members are sceptical about her true intentions.

Former MDC-T members have expressed their readiness to contest for any position in CCC after the party’s leaders said the political organisation is a new entity and accommodates everyone.
The secretary-general of the MDC-T faction formerly led by Thokozani Khupe, Nomvula Mguni on Monday told Southern Eye that the opposition should focus on uniting people. Said Mguni:

No one can stop what happened on Saturday because it is for the people. Everyone needs change and we will contest any positions that will come up within CCC.
We have been told that this is a new party and that we are starting afresh. People are the ones who elect others into positions.

On Saturday Khupe declared that she is now a CCC member after she attended a meeting addressed by CCC leader Nelson Chamisa at Bulawayo’s McDonalds Hall in Makokoba.
Some CCC Bulawayo provincial leaders have announced that they are not keen to work with Khupe.
However, Southern Eye reported CCC sources as saying Khupe was welcomed by members of the opposition party as she sat with the crowds.
Chamisa on Saturday told his members that his party will soon convene an elective congress to choose its leaders.
It is, however, not clear if former MDC-T members will be allowed to contest for positions at the envisaged CCC elective congress.

Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) youths attempted to block former MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe from attending a CCC Bulawayo provincial assembly meeting on Saturday.
The CCC youths barred Khupe from attending the meeting which was addressed by the opposition party’s leader, Nelson Chamisa, at McDonald Hall in Bulawayo, accusing her of being a sellout. One of the youths said:

Khupe, you are not welcome here. All along you were dining and wining with (President Emmerson) Mnangagwa, busy plotting the destruction our party.
You even recalled from parliament some of our leaders whom you want to meet today. Are you not ashamed of what you did?

Chamisa rebuked the youths for their intolerance, saying he did not invite Khupe to the meeting but as a citizen, she had a right to attend the meeting. Said Chamisa:
<blockquote>
I am not a leader of a violent people; I am not a leader of a violent community and I will never accept violence.
This is why I left MDC to form a peaceful organisation with God-fearing supporters.
I do not want this coalition to resemble a Mnangagwa organisation or even that of Mugabe.
I am not happy with those youths who are blocking Khupe. I did not invite her, but she has the right, as a citizen, to be in this meeting.

Khupe later tweeted that she had attended her “first meeting as a CCC member addressed by President Chamisa in Bulawayo Macdonald Hall”.
Last month Khupe endorsed Chamisa and CCC candidates ahead of the 26 March by- elections.
CCC leadership is divided on whether to accept Khupe as a member due to her former close association with President Emmerson Mnangagwa when she was a member of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD).

Former MDC-T vice president Thokozani Khupe is now a member of the newly-formed Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) party.
Khupe announced that she is now a CCC member after she attended a meeting that was addressed by the party’s leader Nelson Chamisa at Macdonald Hall in Bulawayo on Saturday. Khupe <a href="https://twitter.com/DrThoko_Khupe/status/1512817850540507142">tweeted:</a>

Khupe pledged her support to Chamisa’s CCC just before the 26 March by-elections.
However, some CCC members were reportedly reluctant to accept Khupe, warning that she might be a ZANU PF plant due to her previous association with President Emmerson Mnangagwa when she was a member of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD).
CCC interim national chairperson Thabitha Khumalo recently said she will not allow Khupe to join the party unless she apologises for her role in destroying the MDC Alliance.
Khumalo told an <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/thabitha-khumalo-vows-to-block-khupe-admission-into-ccc/">online publication</a> that will never forgive Khupe for initiating her recall from parliament when the latter was interim MDC-T president.
Meanwhile, in an interview, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere told <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/2022/04/fireworks-in-ccc-cockpit/">NewsDay</a> that the party was open to all citizens willing to join regardless of their political background. Mahere was quoted as saying:

We focus on values, actions and policies, not personalities. Chamisa said in his 2022 Agenda address that this is a year of action for change.
The guiding value is that we put the citizens first and they are at the centre of all decision-making.
The only qualification to join is that one is a citizen. The citizens will choose their leaders at the appropriate time.

Khupe through her spokesperson Ntando Ndlovu said she intended to join the CCC as an individual, not as a party leader. Said Ndlovu:

The former Deputy Prime Minister is of the view that to defeat an authoritarian government like ZANU PF, the opposition political parties must unite and form a formidable force against ZANU PF.
As it currently stands, the only capable alternative to Zanu PF is the CCC party and, therefore, she believes that opposition political players must coalesce under CCC and rally behind Chamisa.
Alliances have caused problems before. People must join as opposed to forming alliances.

Thokozani Khupe Joins Citizens Coalition For Change

CCC interim chairperson Tabitha Khumalo says the opposition party cannot work with MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora and his rival Thokozani Khupe, describing them as venomous serpents ready to strike at any time.
While Mwonzora has not expressed a desire to work with CCC, Khupe formally endorsed CCC candidates ahead of the March 26 by-elections.
Khumalo was among the first MDC Alliance MPs to be recalled by Mwonzora and Khupe in 2020 after the Supreme Court installed Khupe as MDC-T acting president. She said:

We have a situation where a snake sneaked into the house, swallowed all the kids and when we attempted to kill it we did not finish it off … And now we want it to be part of the family. No. You can’t bandage a snake because when it heals it will bite you.
It’s frightening to hear some people suggesting that we should form a coalition with Mwonzora before the next elections. We are where we are today because of Mwonzora and Thokozani Khupe.
We can’t work with such people. People rejected them long back, they rejected them in the recent by-elections and continue rejecting them right now.
We just had by-elections in which people expressed their feelings. It’s important to have coalitions but people are saying we should not work hand in hand with Mwonzora and (Thokozani) Khupe. We can’t do what people don’t like.

MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube said they are willing to work with all opposition political parties, including CCC, ahead of the general elections scheduled for 2023.

Senior CCC Official Likens Mwonzora And Khupe To Venomous Snakes

Former MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe believes the outcome of the 26 March by-elections is an indication that the newly-formed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party led by Nelson Chamisa will win in the upcoming 2023 general elections and form the next government.
CCC won 19 out of the 28 National Assembly seats and the majority of council seats in the recently-held by-elections.
However, almost all of the parliamentary seats are in urban areas, the opposition’s strongholds and ZANU PF reclaimed two seats that were won by the opposition in 2018.
Khupe’s spokesperson Ntandoyenkosi Ndlovu on Monday told NewsDay that the by-elections will lay a firm foundation for an opposition victory in 2023. Ndlovu said:

[H]er supporters turned out in their numbers to vote for CCC and the citizens rejected ZANU PF and Mwonzora.
As Khupe said last week, the outcome of these by-elections will lay a firm foundation for an overwhelming victory in 2023.

Just before the by-elections, Khupe announced that she was supporting CCC candidates but the party’s Bulawayo structures have refused to work with her.
CCC party members in Bulawayo say Khupe’s previous association with ZANU PF leader President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made it difficult for them to trust her.
When Khupe was sacked by the MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora, she launched the “#beat the pot campaign, No vote for Mwonzora, No vote for ZANU PF”.

Chamisa Will Be Zimbabwe's Next President - Khupe

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Bulawayo provincial leadership has refused to work with former MDC-T vice president Thokozani Khupe and likened her to <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Morrison_Nyathi">Morrison Nyathi</a>, a former ZANLA commander who became a traitor during the liberation struggle.
Nyathi (also known as Maurice Nyathi and Livison Mutasa) was a ZANLA double agent who led Rhodesian Selous Scouts to attack a ZANLA camp at Nyadzonia in Mozambique, killing hundreds of Zimbabwean refugees.
This comes after Khupe on Monday announced that she will support CCC candidates in the weekend by-elections.
However, CCC Bulawayo spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza said party structures did not trust Khupe due to her association with President Emmerson Mnangagwa when she was MDC-T interim leader. Said Chirowodza:

If ZANLA freedom fighters did not accommodate Morrison Nyathi who was accused of selling out the liberation struggle, why should CCC entertain Khupe?
There is no need for a diplomatic talk with an enemy. We will call a spade a spade.
Zulu king Tshaka, a victorious military general, taught his warriors never to forgive an injured enemy lest the enemy heals, gathers courage and jumps to slit your throat.
We are Bulawayo, the headquarters of Matabeleland. We will not accept to be led by a person who run Mnangagwa’s schemes.
The ink has not dried on the paper on which she wrote to two senators in the United States pleading with them to lift sanctions.
This is the same Mnangagwa who was the State Security minister during the Gukurahundi era.
This is the same Mnangagwa who was commander-in-chief of the army (Zimbabwe Defence Forces) that shot and killed six Zimbabweans on August 1, 2018.
We will not drink with Khupe. She is political poison.

Khupe was recently seen posing for pictures with CCC interim vice-president Welshman Ncube and member Abednico Bhebhe.
Her decision to rally behind Chamisa came a few months after she was fired from MDC-T by Douglas Mwonzora.

Khupe Is Political Poison, Says CCC Official

The Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has been warned against trusting sacked MDC-T vice president Thokozani who recently endorsed the opposition party ahead of the 26 March by-elections.
Wearing CCC regalia, Khupe told a press conference on Monday in Bulawayo that she would support CCC in upcoming elections.
It was, however, not clear if Khupe had joined the party. She told reporters:

Following our previous announcement that we are going to work with like-minded opposition political parties because we are stronger together, I am therefore today announcing that we are calling on all MDC-T members and supporters to go and vote on the 26th of March for the Citizens Coalition for Change candidates across the country.

Zambia’s ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) official Joseph Kalimbwe warned CCC against giving Khupe an influential position as she will destroy the party. He said:

Let them endorse but never give them any political position. Anyone who stood in the way of the citizens and their ability to achieve victory must never be politically trusted with positions of influence. They will destroy again.

National Patriotic Front (NPF) spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire alleged that Khupe is working for ZANU PF deputy president and second secretary, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. Said Mawarire:

You cause by-elections by recalling MPs then hold a presser to support them in their bid to go back to parliament? Only fools will take that as genuine.
Khupe is Gen’s project and sadly some top CCC leaders, not Prof Welshman, are pushing that agenda on behalf of the Gen, chatopindwa chinhu chenyu icho… (CCC has been infiltrated…).

Chamisa Warned Against Trusting Thokozani Khupe

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim national chairperson Thabitha Khumalo says she will not allow Thokozani Khupe to join the party unless she apologises for her role in destroying the MDC Alliance.
Khumalo told New Zimbabwe on Monday that she will never forgive Khupe for initiating her recall from parliament when the latter was interim MDC-T president. 
Khumalo, who has been forced to take a back seat on the party’s activities due to ill health, said:

Apologise and we forgive you, but we will not forget. I have not forgotten what she did to me and my other comrades.
My personal view is that we are in this mess today because of Khupe. If she was sincere that if we are united, we can remove ZANU PF, then what was the essence of those recalls? Why did she replace us with her own friends?
With medical aid, you apply now and pay the fees but it only functions after three months, so what is special about Khupe who just comes from nowhere and enjoys the fruits of others. We will not allow that.

Khumalo was recalled from National Assembly alongside Prosper Mutseyami, Chalton Hwende and Lilian Timveous when Khupe was acting MDC-T president following a controversial Supreme Court ruling in March 2020.
Khupe was eventually expelled from the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T, Timveous has since joined ZANU PF while Hwende and Mutseyami have remained loyal to Chamisa, who now leads CCC.

Thabitha Khumalo Demands Thokozani Khupe Apology

Alex Tawanda Magaisa, a law lecturer in the United Kingdom, has discussed the Trojan Horse theory, prompting some to believe he was warning opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) against accepting Thokozani Khupe in the party.
Magaisa, a former Chief of Staff in the office of a former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai, speaks amid disagreements in the CCC over whether to have a coalition with Khupe who was recently fired from the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora.
Some say Khupe, once Tsvangirai’s deputy and a former Deputy Prime Minister, cannot be trusted since she “joined hands with the ruling ZANU PF” to dismantle MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa. Some say she has a lot to contribute adding that many former ZANU PF members have been admitted into the party in the past.

1. “Be wary of Greeks bearing gifts” The adage originates from a legend in Greek mythology. The legend is drawn from a tale in Homer’s famous poem, The Iliad which describes the end of a long-drawn war between the Greeks and the Trojans in ancient times. The lesson is timeless.
2. The war had been going on for nearly a decade with the Greeks laying siege upon Troy, the of the Trojans, but to no avail. With both sides exhausted, the Greeks built a large wooden horse, which they left at the gates of Troy, seemingly as a peace offering.
3. The Greeks appeared to sail away in retreat. When the Trojans saw the wooden horse, they thought it was a sign of surrender &amp; a peace offering. They opened the gates of their city and took the horse inside and celebrations began. After all, the war was over, wasn’t it?
4. But the Trojans didn’t know it was a trick. Greek soldiers were hiding inside the belly of the large wooden horse. And by bringing it into their city, the Trojans had allowed their bitter enemy inside. And the Greeks had entered the Trojans’ citadel without even fighting.
5. So as the Trojans dropped their guard, the Greek soldiers came out of the horse and opened the gates of Troy to allow in their compatriots who were lurking outside. They entered Troy and won an easy victory. According to the legend, that is how the Trojans were defeated.
6. Over time, when something was referred to as “a Trojan Horse”, it was because it was a weapon that was disguised as a gift. The Roman poet, Virgil is credited with coining the phrase, “Be wary of Greeks bearing gifts” in his account of the legend of the Trojan War.
7. When people say beware of the Greeks bearing gifts, they are warning you to be careful because sometimes things that are presented as gifts can turn out to be your greatest undoing. Not everything that glitters is gold. Observe carefully who the promoters of that gift are.
8. There will be offers of gifts and it’s hard to resist the allure. But these gifts may also be weapons in disguise. You cannot afford to behave like the Trojans. Before you bring the horse through the city gates, be sure that it is not carrying the opponent’s troops inside.

Be Wary Of Greeks Bearing Gifts - Alex Magaisa

Former MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe is expected to attend the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) rally set for Bulawayo on Saturday.
Recent reports claim Khupe is open to working together with CCC leader Nelson Chamisa in spite of their acrimonious separation in 2018 following the death of MDC founding president Morgan Tsvangirai.
New Zimbabwe reported sources as saying Khupe could be on the brink of joining hands with CCC following her recent expulsion from the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora. Said a source:

The president could be at White City Stadium on Saturday. If she does make it to the rally, this will be confirmation she is coming back, rejoining her former comrades in the opposition party.

Khupe’s spokesperson Ntandoyenkosi Ndlovu could neither confirm nor deny that Khupe will grace the CCC rally on Saturday. He said:

We do not have any plans regarding the weekend CCC rally. In politics a day is too long for one to decide on what they are going to be doing over the weekend, we will let you know on Saturday.
</blockquote>
Chamisa declared that CCC will welcome all former MDC members but stressed that they will join the party on the basis they “move to the back of the bus.”
He made the remarks while launching the CCC’s by-elections campaign at Zimbabwe Grounds in Harare two weeks ago.

Khupe To Attend Chamisa's Bulawayo Rally

Former MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe is reportedly mulling working together with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party led by Nelson Chamisa in future elections after her acrimonious departure from the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC-T.
Khupe recently said she we tell members and supporters of her party who to vote for in the 26 March elections at the right time.
Addressing a press conference at the Bulawayo Media Centre on Wednesday, Khupe said she decided against participating in the upcoming elections to avoid splitting the opposition vote. She said:

The needless fragmentation of the opposition has not only deflated hopes and punctured national confidence but it has also slowly led to people staying away from national processes and losing faith in elections.
It is in this spirit that I’m urging the nation to rally together and to encourage each other to be active participants in national processes, especially in the ongoing voter registration blitz.
Unity amongst opposition political parties is of paramount importance, as it will result in the formation of a formidable force to confront ZANU PF.
The formidable force must start to speak with one voice, they must start to act with one voice and they must start to vote with one voice.
It is high time as opposition parties we converge and mobilise citizens and together unite for a common course and that common course being a new Zimbabwe.
We need to unapologetically preach the gospel of unity, in bars, in churches, in the villages and in the urban areas where we stay.
Let us remind each other that future generations will not forgive us if we allow next year’s chance to slip away.
It is a glorious chance that comes to us ordinary people once every five years and we must make the most of it.

Khupe and Chamisa worked as co-vice presidents to the late former MDC president Morgan Tsvangirai between 2016 and 2018 but their relationship was an uneasy one.
Their relationship broke down after Tsvangirai’s death in February 2018 as they fought over the control of the opposition party.
Meanwhile, CITE reported sources as saying Khupe is most likely to make an appearance at the CCC rally this Saturday to be held at White City Stadium in Bulawayo.

Khupe Hints At Working With Chamisa

A tweet by <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Citizens%27_Coalition_for_Change">Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)</a> Vice President Professor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Welshman_Ncube">Welshman Ncube</a> has torched a storm on social media after some interpreted it to mean that he was pushing for a coalition with former Deputy Prime Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Thokozani_Khupe">Thokozani Khupe</a>.
Ncube, a former Minister of Industry and Commerce, said the opposition had been losing ground in Matabeleland North over the years and suggested that this evaluation must inform the CCC’s strategic options ahead of the 2023 elections. He said in a statement seen by Pindula News:

In Mat North in 2000 we got 74% of the vote &amp; all the then 7 seats. <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_African_National_Union_-_Patriotic_Front">ZANU PF</a> 21%. Others 5%. By 2018 our percentage share had nosedived to 38%. ZANU PF up to 39%. Others 23%. This is the harsh reality that must inform our strategic options for 2023. I rest my case.

His remarks come barely weeks after he reportedly <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/ccc-speaks-on-welshman-ncube-thokozani-khupe-viral-picture/">held a meeting with Khupe</a> who was recently <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/mdc-t-expels-khupe-three-others/">fired from MDC-T</a> led by Senator <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Douglas_Mwonzora">Douglas Mwonzora</a>. Khupe claims that the MDC-T split and that she leads another faction.
In a series of Twitter posts, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Alex_Magaisa">Alex Tawanda Magaisa</a>, a former Chief of Staff in the Office of former Prime Minister, the late <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Morgan_Tsvangirai">Morgan Tsvangirai</a>, seemed to be responding to Ncube’s reasoning. Politicians must work hard to win the hearts &amp; minds of people who support their rivals instead of courting the rivals hoping for easy pickings. They will never be your people. Marriages of convenience between political elites create fiefdoms &amp; only end in heartbreak and tears.
You hear some saying X has people, therefore we need X. It’s an admission of failure that you can’t win them from X. What are you doing to win them? Are they permanently tied to X? Why are you failing to win them? If you can’t win them then you don’t deserve to lead!

Magaisa’s remarks were echoed by journalist, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Hopewell_Chin%27ono">Hopewell Chin’ono</a> who said the proposition was an insult to supporters. Pindula News presents his post:

The idea that Thokozani Khupe is the main ingredient in Matebeleland for the opposition to win is an insult to people of that region. It is stockholder politics that assumes that there are no young people in Matebeleland capable of being leaders and attracting votes!

Some CCC supporters who commented on the matter suggested that the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Nelson_Chamisa">Nelson Chamisa</a>-led political outfit must not work with Khupe as she cannot be trusted after she allegedly worked with the ruling ZANU PF to dismantle MDC Alliance which Chamisa led before the rebranded to CCC.
A Twitter handle, ZANU PF PATRIOTS  @zanupf_patriots, allegedly operated by the ruling ZANU PF, said “@DrThoko_Khupe will definitely join CCC, they desperately need her Mark this tweet, Zvenyu zvepa Twitter hazvina kana basa on this one.”
Meanwhile, Chamisa seems to be in support of any coalition. Responding to a question which demanded to know if “rotten rejected tomatoes (can) be in the same basket with Bananas?” Chamisa said:

A proper national basket carries all types of fruits. Its rainbow-ness is what makes it truly national and natural a home for all!
</blockquote>
When one of his followers posted saying, “Welshman Welshman comrade, he is raising some serious emotions,” Chamisa said, “All is well.” He added:

Everything (is) under control. Relax! The future is exciting! Watch the space.
</blockquote>
The ruling ZANU PF has been in power since 1980 and the opposition has tried a number of ways to dislodge the party in failure.
MDC led by Morgan Tsvangirai came close to power in 2008 when he defeated then president, the late <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Mugabe">Robert Mugabe</a> but failed to reach the minimum required threshold, according to the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Electoral_Commission">Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).</a>
In 2018, Chamisa who was leading an opposition Alliance (MDC Alliance) lost narrowly to President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Emmerson_Mnangagwa">Emmerson Mnangagwa</a>. He claims he won the election.
Political analysts have been saying a fragmented opposition will not dislodge ZANU PF as votes will be shared.

Magaisa, Chamisa, Chin'ono Respond To Welshman's Tweet "Proposing Coalition With Khupe"

MDC-T president <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Electoral_Commission">Douglas Mwonzora</a> has said he is not pushing for national dialogue so that he attains the post of Prime Minister but for the resolution of several issues prevalent in Zimbabwe.
He said he engaged President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Emmerson_Mnangagwa">Emmerson Mnangagwa</a> and talks shall commence “very soon.”
Mwonzora made the remarks at his weekend rally at Pelandaba Hall in Bulawayo. He said:

I presented Mnangagwa with a letter with 21 points spelling out the kind of Zimbabwe that we want as a party.  Very soon, there shall be talks of dialogue. I went back to meet him in January, as MDC-T.  I am not involved in these talks so that I become PM, or that some of our MPs can become ministers, but we want to bring peace and prosperity to the country.
All conflicts that have bedevilled the country in the past have been resolved through dialogue like the talks that culminated in a GNU.

Mwonzora told his supporters that he regretted the split between him and his former deputy, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Thokozani_Khupe">Thokozani Khupe</a>, who has now declared herself the MDC-T leader.
MDC Alliance national chairperson <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Morgen_Komichi">Morgen Komichi</a> said the last battle for the party after winning several court cases against the then MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa would be to win the 2023 elections.
Bulawayo mayor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Solomon_Mguni">Solomon Mguni</a> and Nketa Emganwini MP Phelela Masuku, who is now the provincial chairperson of the party, as well as other MPs belonging to Mwonzora’s party attended the event.

"I'm Not Fighting To Become Prime Minister" - Mwonzora On Dialogue

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) deputy spokesman, Gift Ostallos Siziba, has said no official communication has been opened with the Thokozani Khupe, the leader of a faction of the MDC-T.
He added that the only qualification for one to be a member of the party besides being a Zimbabwean citizen. This comes after a picture of Khupe, CCC vice president Welshman Ncube and Abednico Bhebhe circulated on social media amid reports that Khupe is eyeing a coalition with Nelson Chamisa. WATCH: No Official Communication Between CCC And Khupe - Siziba

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president Nelson Chamisa has said he is yet to be briefed on the meeting that occurred between his deputy Welshman Ncube and Thokozani Khupe.
Replying to Am Chambili, one of his Twitter followers who had asked for clarification, attaching the picture in question, Chamisa said:

</blockquote>
Khupe and Ncube shared an image after their engagement that was reportedly organised by former MDC-T organising secretary Abednico Bhebhe in Bulawayo.
The meeting was confirmed by Khupe spokesperson Ntandoyenkosi Ndlovu who suggested that the meeting was on a possibility for Khupe to form a coalition with CCC.
Meanwhile, some CCC supporters who have not forgiven her for fighting Chamisa over the past four years say she cannot be trusted.
Some have concluded that Ncube has brokered a deal for an alliance with Khupe which will see him contesting as president at the 2023 harmonised poll.
Asked on the matter at a Wednesday press conference, Gift Ostalos Siziba the CCC deputy spokesperson said there was no official communication between them and Khupe.
He however said Khupe was welcome to join CCC. Reports suggest that CCC leadership is open to the idea of Khupe joining forces with them.
