President Robert Mugabe‘s in-law is earning a massive $7.5 million per month from the Dema emergency power plant, which was awarded in controversial circumstances without going to tender. Dema Power Plant which supplies power to. at a higher cost compared to imports from South Africa was awarded to Sakunda Energy, where Derrick Chikore, brother to Bona‘s husband Simba Chikore is a partner.
Zesa Holdings chief executive Josh Chifamba told the Mines and Energy committee:
We can submit to you the actual amount paid but right now we can tell you that $8 million is owed to Dema.
On average the bill should be $7,5 million per month.
