The Judicial Services Commission (JSC) has released a statement saying they have appealed the interdict by High Court Justice Hungwe. This means that Hungwe’s ruling will be suspended until the Appeal is noted. Therefore, the interviews for the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will proceed as advertised tomorrow. Outgoing Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku is the head of the judiciary as well as the chairman of the JSC.
The JSC noted the appeal in terms of section 43(1) as read with section 43 2(d) of the High Court Act.
