The MDC-T has warned that if elected it will purge the judiciary of all “political judges.” This comes soon after 3 MDC-T activists including Yvonne Musarurwa were sentenced to 20-year jail terms for the murder of ZRP Inspector Mutedza by Justice Chinembiri Bhunu. The MDC-T and other opposition parties have also complained that some elements of the judiciary are biased in favour Zanu-PF.
MDC-T secretary general Douglas Mwonzora told New Zimbabwe that:
We are going to get rid of people who have dispensed injustice in this country;the judges who make political judgements have no place in our administration. We want to completely reform the judiciary.
We will not interfere with the courts but …we will make sure that the courts are manned by people who have a sense of justice and not party functionaries masquerading as judges.
