Former legislator Job Sikhala has claimed that one of the candidates for the Bikita West by-election has been severely assaulted. According to Sikhala, Mr Maddock Chivasa of the NCA party was attacked by youths bussed from Marondera under the direction of Lawrence Katsiru. He also says that Thomas Mudzamiri, Chivasa’s election agent was shot.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have received the sad news that the NCA candidate for Bikita West by election, Mr. Madock Chivasa, was severely attacked by ZANU PF youths bused from Marondera under the command of Lawrence Katsiru.

The election is due this weekend, on Saturday the 21st. The Bikita West fell vacant after incumbent Munyaradzi Kereke was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for rape.
