Mphoko claims Tsvangirai was involved in Gukurahundi and in a plot to kill Nkomo [updated]

Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has made astonishing claims that Morgan Tsvangirai was heavily involved in a plot to kill the late former Vice-President Joshua Nkomo. Mphoko accused the MDC-T president of being part of a mob which shot at the late ‘Father Zimbabwe’ in Masvingo. Mphoko however, did not get into specifics. He did not say when the alleged shooting took place or what happened afterwards.

Mphoko also said that the people of Matebeleland should not trust Tsvangirai’s promise to resolve the horrors of Gukurahundi  as he was heavily involved in that as well. Tsvangirai has been campaigning in the Matebeland region drumming up support for his party.

Mphoko said:

Tsvangirai was around here recently and said as MDC-T, they want to fix the Gukurahundi issue and also said Zanu-PF has failed and he can do it. Let us not forget that when the late Cde Nkomo’s car was shot at he (Tsvangirai) was at the fore-front, when an officer-in-charge was killed in Tsholotsho he was there too. The same person wants to address the Gukuraundi issue now.

In the past, Mphoko has blamed the West for the Gukurahundi.
