Highlanders players yesterday told The Chronicle that they felt insulted by the club’s offer of R500 for their two week journey to South African. Highlanders is expected to leave for South African today where they will await confirmation from Bloemfontein Celtic before traveling to Freestate Province in the country.
Said one players:
We tried to raise our concern that R500 is little and they told us, we will get more if the game against Bloemfontein Celtics is cleared. They told us the money will come from takings. However, we asked what will happen if the game doesn’t materialise and they didn’t say anything.
Efforts by The Chronicle to get a comment from Highlanders acting chairman, Modern Ngwenya and secretary general Emmett Ndlovu were fruitless.
