In a two page letter addressed to President Robert Mugabe, members believed to belong to Zanu-PF’s G40 faction accused Masvingo Provincial Affairs minister Shuvai Mahofa and Psychomotor minister Josiah Hungwe of only recruiting members from the Team Lacoste faction for the 300 000 jobs that are expected to be created from the dualisation of the Harare-Beitbridge Highway.
The two are also accused of sidelining G40 Faction members from economic projects such as fisheries, land and stands around Tokwe-Mukosi Dam. Part of the letter reads:
They are recruiting people to the project along factional lines. Those people perceived to be anti-VP Mnangagwa are not considered.
Cde Mahofa is leading this process and on record stating that they will not allow any Zezuru influence in Masvingo province. Only people identified by their team are to be beneficiaries of the economic projects (fisheries, land and stands) around Tokwe-Mukosi Dam.
When contacted by NewsDay for a comment Mahofa said her office was not part of the recruitment process. Hungwe and Mahofa are also accused of organising district meetings to introduce Ezra Chadzamira as the Masvingo’s chairperson before his victory was endorsed by Zanu-PF’s politburo.
