War veterans have urged Zimbabweans to unite to fight a common enemy and make sure that President Robert Mugabe is out of power after the 2018 elections. The war veterans are even threatening to join forces with the opposition parties to make sure that Mugabe is pushed out of power come 2018. According to the war veterans, Mugabe wants to take Zimbabwe down with him when he dies.
Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association (ZNLWVA) secretary-general, Victor Matemadanda, said:
We have to make sure that he is out of power in 2018 as a collective.
Unfortunately, we have been too polarised to the point that we are forgetting that (MDC-T president, Morgan) Tsvangirai, Joice Mujuru (National People’s Party) or Welshman Ncube (MDC) are not the enemies.
The enemy is poverty, unemployment and Mugabe, who wants to die with Zimbabwe.
