"Mujuru is Zanu-PF, she can't be trusted": Biti

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Tendai Biti has accused National People’s Party (NPP) leader Joice Mujuru of causing divisions in his party after it emerged that PDP secretary-general Gorden Moyo held a press conference at Mujuru’s deputy Samuel Sipepa Nkomo’s house in Bulawayo on Thursday. The press conference announced the decision to fire Biti and replace him with party chairperson Lucia Matibenga.

Said Biti:

I have been holding negotiations with NPP for over two years and I came to a conclusion that Mujuru is in the opposition on the basis of her exclusion from Zanu PF, but she still maintains the blood and spirit of her party in all her dealings. She can’t be trusted.

Biti said he is committed to working with Morgan Tsvangirai and stated that he is doing so because the people demand it. He has since replaced Moyo with Settlement Chikwinya in an acting capacity, and Matibenga with Evelyn Masaiti.
