Minister Chombo Admitted to Hospital After Being Assaulted By Soldiers: Madhuku

Minister Of Finance Ignatius Chombo is reported to have been admitted to hospital after he was allegedly assaulted by soldiers while in military custody for about a week. According to his lawyer and constitutional law expert, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, Chombo has injuries on his hands, legs and back. Madhuku also alleged that Chombo was blindfolded during the entire duration of his enforced stay in military detention. Madhuku slammed Chombo’s treatment by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, telling Reuters:

It was a very brutal and draconian way of dealing with opponents.

Chombo is yet to be seen in public since he was reportedly arrested by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces after gunfire was exchanged at his home last week when the military launched “Operation Restore Legacy.” Chombo was arrested after the military claimed that he was one of the criminals around President Robert Mugabe who needed to be brought to justice for bringing suffering to Zimbabweans through acts of corruption.
