Mangudya Fumes At Hotels and Safaris, Says Some Do Not Change Their Bed Sheets

Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe(RBZ), John Mangudya, has warned the hospitality industry to up its game and improve its standards in order to attract more visitors. The governor claimed that the standards in some of the country’s hotels and safaris are deplorable and are negatively affecting the tourism industry. The governor went on to say that some of the top hotels in the country are not changing their linens although he declined to name and shame them. Said Mangudya last week,

You need to improve your hotels and safaris.

I won’t say which hotels, but the beds are old, the sheets are old; I think they have not been changed because they are smelling [of ] too many cigarettes.

What therefore happens is that if you change the old beds and sheets, you will go and buy new ones, meaning increased production in the country. It means those that make beds and sheets manufacturers will have to increase their production as they will be in business.

As a bank, our passion is to enhance productivity in Zimbabwe and foreign exchange receipts.
